My great grandfather came to the united states back in the late 1800's. He changed our name from its original spelling to Riley from what we were told growing up. I would love to follow his roots back to the homeland and find my family there.

My mother's maiden name was Riley, it was her father's surname. My great granddad came over to England during the potato famine which is were I live. Although I think of myself as English, technically I'm half Irish. You and I may just be related.

I was told by my grandpa that O'Reilly meant son of Reilly or Riley. Also, that Riley is the first Descendent of King Raghaillach. So I researched it and found that to be true. That King also killed his own children because he was insane. He thought his kids were trying to overthrow him.
