really dislike Spear for necro. feels bad to use but also, what are they even trying to do with Necro? wheres its core themes? minions, condi, death. none of that has been in their recent weapons, or arguably even Harbinger. i guess theres been some life leach, but thats such a minor characteristic and its really not worth focusing around.
I suspect they're mainly trying to fill a "melee power" weapon where Dagger doesn't really fit currently. It's not a terrible take considering that sword(s) ended up being mostly ranged / mobility for #ANetReasons. Same thing(ish) happened with Warrior's spear. It's Rifle, but a 2nd crack at it. Which seems especially odd in Necro's case, however, because they still have no "dedicated support weapon." What I do find it interesting that, at least as a Warrior player, Necro Spear seemed like one of the strongest. Altho mayhaps this is a grass is always greener' situation. I'd personally rather just see them put this Dev time into reworking old weapons. But that doesn't sell expansions. -_-
Super hype for warrior spear. Lots of aoe, good cc, no damage drop off on auto, multi hit tracking attack, and evade. It's going to feel so good to use with forceful great sword and might makes right. Each multi hit attack that crits is about 100 healing, and almost all of the attacks are multi hit. Just auto attacking in melee range is going to be 500 hps.
I play Necro main and Ele alt. I'm happy Ele got a 1200 range weapon, but been wanting a 1200 range for Necro for forever. Also wish Spear was Condi focused as a Condi player since Swords weren't. Hype for Ele spear. but also, I havent even finished EoD so I'm a loooong way from unlocking them (or the last weapons for that matter haha). im too casual. cant keep up.
if Anet/NCSoft updated their game with novel expansions, instead of reshuffling long-time asymmetrically core balanced abilities, which is what they currently do, then they could maintain a better game while attracting sales🧂 destroying previous expansions, features, & abilities to make room for simply reshuffling such is.. detrimental to games, imo.
revenant's trail from the swings is so pretty. warrior, you're basic. Take away all the utilities and flashy moves from other classes spear and you become...warrior. Elementalist ♥♥♥♥♥
Ele legit looks very solid. It will probably have the most "shakeup" gameplay-wise, especially WvW. I'm actually keen to try Weaver with it this expac. 😀
@@GW2Pseudo The weaver does seem to be the better option for now, cause we don't have to consciously go melee range when we use tempest overload or cata jadesphere. Can just concentrate on elements combos/rotation. GOnna be funnnn

warrior spear will dominate ..fastest animations besides 2 , problem is they have the ability to create these weaps however they want , so with no 'skills' balance philosophy intact since day 1 ....were more just observers of thier impractical artistic creativity love it or hate

I just hate they are pushing fucking power mirage instead of fixing the current version. Even then it will suck because if the spear is strong on mirage it will be broken on virt and chrono.
Thief looks nice. Its a shame it is not pure power weapon, since the last power weapon that has some aoe was Daredevil with staff. Hoping it will not be nerfed to the point where in pve you can only play Deadeye condi or you cant do any dmg to be a dps in groups. Hoping a power version will be viable in pve that is not Deadeye, but am worried it is not going to happen becouse the last 2 weapons Thief got were hybrid and are now eather not viable or pure condi in Pve
Mhmmm. "Hybrid Stats" only work if their balance cadence keeps up with it. Something ANet's Dev budget has never been top-tier at. I'm glad it's hybrid myself tho, at least in theory. 😁
In theory yes, but as it was with scepter and after with axe, as "hybrid", condi Deadeye outperforms every other version of the build, and am worried it will happen with spear as well. Personaly love playing power a lot more than condi and as builds go for pve, there wasnt any viable power build after release od PoF, and if i want any build that is not single target, we go back to HoT.
Idk how i feel about needing to be upclose an personal on engi spear. Looks nice but seems slow and easily dodgeable from a PvP/WvW stand point cant wait for the beta to test it 😅
since I prefere to play with ranged weapons, having an auto attack that can hit muliple foes with condition damage, I'm pritty much disappointed by the spear skills across the board. And the exessive ground targeting in each kit makes it even worse.
It does get around all the projectile hate' in wvw tho. But I getchu. I was kind of hoping that if they ever did "Longbow Ele" it would be condi. But alas, seems not meant to be.* But I suppose we'll have to see how they play. Might still be fun. :D
Hopefully not (at least eventually.) They stealth nerfed at least *some* of the more recent projectiles they added like the Necro line and fear ball on sword. But yeah, that's a terrifying thought for sure lol 😂

this fuffly guys just hate warrior. The Ranger (the guy who hunt on range) has a multiple attack spear and the warrior that was supose to be a WEAPONMASTER has only range attack, fu** it!!
If they ever wanted to turn that around I'd welcome a pre-combat skill-selection system for older weapons, a-la Ranger Hammer on Non-Untamed. Would really help bring that Weaponsmater Feel' back imo.
I don't disagreed with you but for what it's worth: People keep telling me "Warrior Spear is Paragon." But I don't think the Devs see it that way at all. Aside from being "A thrown weapon with a skill called Mighty Throw" Warrior spear has 0 in common with Paragon that I know of, as Paragon was a Stance-Buffer and Warrior Spear seems to be All Damage. 😑
@@RockandGameUSA Idk man, it looks pretty easily dodgeable, and the one place Necro doesn't want to be in after Shroud with it on CD, is in melee on a kit with zero defenses. You generally need an escape after Shroud, not chase - otherwise you just get perma CC'ed and pummeled on Necro. So if a Spear Necro leaps on you with that, pop your block/invuln/mobility to kite/etc. to avoid their Shroud burst, then if they drop Shroud and Spear chase you, CC and burst them. Free kills really.

It definitely looks good with the resets, but part of me is very glad both the Thief & Necro Burst skills are "over time" so there's (at least theoretically some counterplay) even if they're fast. Just started watching, but after just two professions explained, it's clear that the spear will be practically the only weapon everyone will be using once the next expansion drops. It's the same strategy that Anet uses to sell every expansion, by making the new weapon, or elite spec OP, so everyone has the choice to buy the expansion, or be left behind with less powerful builds. I know they have to incentivize purchases, but I really wish they would balance ALL WEAPONS, so that players could make infinite build choices and really make the game interesting, and not so "Meta" build controlled. Sure, they could still make the new weapon just slightly better than every other weapon, but the way the game is now, certain weapons are a joke, and anyone using them in group instanced play, would be trolling the rest of the party or squad. IMO, no weapon should be more than 5% more powerful than the weakest weapon that same profession can wield, unless there is some fantastic utility a certain weapon provides, then maybe you can justify dropping its damage output by 7% of the highest DPS weapon. That is how balance should work! Anet could start by equalizing all auto attacks to provide this 5% threshold for every weapon in the game. Either that, or please explain what your balance philosophy is for the game, and how the team comes up with the damage numbers and coefficients for every weapon, because right now, none of it seems to make any sense, other than the fact that new weapons are always going to be the best, to promote the purchase of each expansion.

Every "New Thing" will always be OP. Look at any Champion in LoL or DOTA for that. They want you to use the new thing. I partially blame the Community for the eventual Power Creep in GW2 tho. Part of the reason *"the new weapons stay feeling op"* imo is that everyone, literally everyone, riots every time there's a nerf patch in this game, when it can be a REALLY healthy + good thing for the game's longevity, even if it doesn't *feel* that way.

If the spears aren’t good, someone will say spear and expansion sucks and that game is dead, no content. Someone is always upset. Though there are so many meta builds I doubt every single one will use a spear.
When it comes to new stuff like weapons, balance-wise, it's better to have them overperform on release and then nerf them after, rather than making them underperform. If no one is using them it would be hard to tell what needs to be adjusted. As for power creep, from what I understand, Anet has hard limit set for how much DPS is allowed before a nerf is forced. Around 40-45k max I believe but they are aiming for around 20-30k.(Although it's more of a rumor than fact.)

Spear scales up as u get closer in melee thats good, i see that spear burst 1 shoting anything even before berserk, strong af. warrior doesnt have a ranged condi weap? I can't tell if this is sarcastic, and you're ofc entitled to your own opinion, but go check the Warrior Forums vs Any Other profession if you think I'm alone in this. Scaling target cap and delay for damage skills is both terrible for you, even if you've learned+memorized the *exact* spacings on it, and even worse in terms of counter-play for your opponent(s), because they likely have not. I'll take spear over literally nothing. That's a pretty low bar. & CmC himself has said both that he didn't think that the rifle changed wouldn't make players use it and that "longbow is a Melee Weapon" when I donated $20 ~4 years ago to ask him about it. -- Check the stream with Hugh and Robert G guesting. Differing opinions+perspectives are ok, healthy in fact. So I'm glad you're Warrior experience is much more polished! 😁
@@GW2Pseudo oh sure. doesn't matter to mutch. the ambush of the spear looks powerfull inof, especualy when your clones do it as wel. i think the damage of the power virtuosu and power mirage will be close. that is inof to make the power mirage vaible in PvE. that is all i wanted. i have a 100% crit build with spear s/s in mind. strong boon removal, excelent damage i hope. if so, than power mirage wil be realy good for higher level fraclets and some raid bosses with lots of boons. but i do think that spear GS will be higher damage total. i don't think dagger works with power mirage. though the sword is great with the duelist trait. sinds one handed sword attack and spear attacks of your phantasms will give you 10% more damage after 5 stacks.

@@GW2Pseudo maby spear dagger/focus, i think that migt de realy strong, but you do sacrifice allot of range combat without the GS. the 2 4 of the spear looks realy strong, and signet to reset, you could do 2/5 2/4 heal, auto chain 2/4 auto chain 2/1 auto chain 2/1 weaponswap in the spear section of your rotation. (chrono spear rotation) as for mirage, i am still thinking of, if i go for signet, or deception as my heal. the shard spawn might lead to more damage, but the trait is also strong for bonus 10%. you should be aible to maintain 100% uptime thanks to the spear sword/sword set-up.

No Stab, Aegis, Evades, Blocks, Blinds or anything else Defensive on Necro Spear means it's a death sentence to be in Melee with it out of Shroud.

@@asum7786 In WvW just slap on cele gear and now you won't die in melee and you can be a proper speedy bruiser with sword sword / spear.

I'm sure it'll end up having LoS. They specifically called out Rev 2 for not being able to do that. But I guess we'll see. 😁

If the spears aren’t good, someone will say spear and expansion sucks and that game is dead, no content. Someone is always upset. Though there are so many meta builds I doubt every single one will use a spear.
When it comes to new stuff like weapons, balance-wise, it's better to have them overperform on release and then nerf them after, rather than making them underperform. If no one is using them it would be hard to tell what needs to be adjusted.
As for power creep, from what I understand, Anet has hard limit set for how much DPS is allowed before a nerf is forced. Around 40-45k max I believe but they are aiming for around 20-30k.(Although it's more of a rumor than fact.)
Psuedo stop bagn on warrior :P , yea bladesworn itself has flaws ...but all else even core , warrior is the most polished prof overall over the years . ..requiring the most skill. Spear scales up as u get closer in melee thats good, i see that spear burst 1 shoting anything even before berserk, strong af. warrior doesnt have a ranged condi weap? Longbow ...

I can't tell if this is sarcastic, and you're ofc entitled to your own opinion, but go check the Warrior Forums vs Any Other profession if you think I'm alone in this.
Scaling target cap and delay for damage skills is both terrible for you, even if you've learned+memorized the *exact* spacings on it, and even worse in terms of counter-play for your opponent(s), because they likely have not. I'll take spear over literally nothing. That's a pretty low bar.
& CmC himself has said both that he didn't think that the rifle changed wouldn't make players use it and that "longbow is a Melee Weapon" when I donated $20 ~4 years ago to ask him about it. -- Check the stream with Hugh and Robert G guesting.

the ambush of the spear looks powerfull inof, especualy when your clones do it as wel.
i think the damage of the power virtuosu and power mirage will be close.
that is inof to make the power mirage vaible in PvE.

i have a 100% crit build with spear s/s in mind.
strong boon removal, excelent damage i hope.
if so, than power mirage wil be realy good for higher level fraclets and some raid bosses with lots of boons.
but i do think that spear GS will be higher damage total.
i don't think dagger works with power mirage.
though the sword is great with the duelist trait.
sinds one handed sword attack and spear attacks of your phantasms will give you 10% more damage after 5 stacks.

@@GW2Pseudo maby spear dagger/focus, i think that migt de realy strong, but you do sacrifice allot of range combat without the GS.
the 2 4 of the spear looks realy strong, and signet to reset, you could do 2/5 2/4 heal, auto chain 2/4 auto chain 2/1 auto chain 2/1 weaponswap in the spear section of your rotation. (chrono spear rotation)
as for mirage, i am still thinking of, if i go for signet, or deception as my heal.
the shard spawn might lead to more damage, but the trait is also strong for bonus 10%.
you should be aible to maintain 100% uptime thanks to the spear sword/sword set-up.
@@skullwolff9442 I like your plan! I'll be differing to more experienced Mesmers than I for tips like this! Outside of Mirage (which, admittedly) was my main for years, I've barely touched the class lately. So I have no idea how/what on it has changed for the various game modes! 😄
No condis on the ranger spear, its so over.
Immobilize is a very good condition imo 😄
