Just a little advice on the tent. You might want to get a tarp and put it on top so when leaves come down this fall. It won't stain the top. It doesn't hurt it, but it keeps the tent looking good.

Cory, I am sitting at home enjoying one of my favorite parts of your videos ..... the sounds.....water, wind & the BIRDS ! I am usually getting ready to go to my cabin in Ontario at this time but I am taking care of my health. Third time treating & BEATING cancer. I will be going to Ontario in August instead of July and then I can listen to all those beautiful sounds in person. Thank you for your beautiful videos & thank you for sharing them & Gracie & yourself. You have done & continue to do an amazing job there in Maine. Stay safe & well & avoid the black flies & "skeeters".

It's a good set up Cory. The permission for the v=cabin will set you on a major development so take it easy - pace yourself - and build up reserves if you can for the work ahead. Nice maple slabs. Keep well and keep healthy in body, mind and spirit. Love to see the videos and appreciate that things may be slower at present - but that's a good thing! Blessings brother.

Only advice I can maybe offer,, I was always told if saw is spitting powdery more than Big Chips, the chain might need sharpening a bit. It was taught to me by a Professional Logger while I worked for him when I was 14 - 17+ yrs old. I didn't learn everything but he definitely taught me quite a bit, saved my life twice when I was cutting from wrong side of tree , that ended up snapping/swinging out like a bullet when it was half on ground tangled up preventing it from falling all the way. Both were more than 60's.. Big ass trees. Stay Safe my friend.

You're doing great while you wait for this permitting process to get solved. Seems like organizing always helps your brain to feel like you're accomplishing something. I didn't realize how many bugs there were in Maine. Here in Oregon we don't seem to have that issue in the woods, other than mosquitos and ticks in the high grass of course. The two tents seem to be working out great and considering the time it will take
to construct the new cabin, you'll be using them for quite awhile if you can keep the old one from leaking of course. Gracie seems very happy. Maybe the solar panel job is next to keep the power at peak for all the projects coming.

Subscribed and looking forward to following this new adventure of yours. Best of luck, be safe and Blessings.

Wood stickers will give you nasty sticker stain on the white maple. If you have some carpenter friends who use PVC “boards” for facia, corner boards, and etc. ask them to save any rippers they might throw away for maple stickers. I really enjoy your channel. Cheers!

Great video! Apologies if you have answered this previously, but what type of bug repellant do you use? I see you wearing mesh to keep the bugs away -- but wondering if you have a repellant that you prefer? I used to vacation in central Maine in the 60s and 70s as a kid-- and we would always ask the locals what was the best repellant -- in addition we would try to arrive (from Boston) in mid August so that we could escape the worst of the bugs. Thanks!

Are you using a ripping chain while milling? A standard chain is miserable to try and mill with. Years ago I did a lot of chainsaw milling with a Husqvarna 394xp. Even with a 94cc saw, and a sharp ripping chain, it was still a lot of work milling hardwood logs over 20 inches in diameter. Chainsaw mills work best in softwoods.
