Fabulous. A real memory Lane journey for us and of our Kgalagadi TFP Tour in Oct 2014. Loved it.

If one is staying at Polentswa, are you allowed to drive that road?

No you are not, it is solely for Gharagab residents

Is this the exit road from Gharagab camp to the main road to Nossob, Lijersdraai?

@@daveysmithRSA It looks challenging. I hope my VW syncro (front engined) will be able to handle it. Maybe I can take the easier entry road as an exit road.

@@Deontjie officially, the parks officials are not meant to allow vehicles that do not have low range.
The track is one way for obvious reasons. I was there again in 2019, and had no issues getting out, but there were couples there with AWD vehicles that really shouldn't have been there... they struggled a lot to get out, and had to race at the dunes, but they were rentals, so don't think they cared if they damaged the road or the vehicles.
With decent clearance, deflated tyres (1.2 bar) and centre lock differential the axle twisters and soft sand are not so bad... leave as early as possible before the sand heats up, and should be no issues.

@@daveysmithRSA I checked your and other videos. The entry road is better and wider without those nasty dunes. So meeting a vehicle coming from front should theoretical not be dangerous. You are right, cold sand in winter would be better. The T4 VW bus has a stronger first gear, but it is not a real low range.

@@Deontjie the entry road is just an easy track, the corrugations are your biggest enemy. You literally do not see deep sand until you reach the camp.
I've never driven a syncro, but they are highly regarded, and I don't think you'll have issues. this particular drive I did on high range, without trying to push too hard, and it was not so difficult
