The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Eydie was a class act. Such an amazing voice and absolutely gorgeous. Her and Steve were one of the greatest acts ever. So called artists today have no clue as to what real talent is. Both Steve and Eydie are gone now but thankfully Ed Sullivan on UA-cam keeps their talent alive! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️
Yep…
Yes. Only things Eydie had was a band and a microphone, and a pretty dress. No auto-tune, no pitch correction, no laser beam light shows.
Eydie Gorme and Steve Lawrence were everywhere when I was kid. Show business royalty. 🎶
I always loved her (and Steve too), but I never heard her scat before. Now I'm even more impressed with her than ever.
Sing it, Eydie! Glamorous dress!💜
What an underrated & talented singer!
I am one of the biggest fan of Eydie. Without a doubt a beautiful and delightful voice!!
Thanks from Brazil. I love Ed Sullivan Shows
Interesting fact. Eydie was a high school classmate of director Stanley Kubrick. Stanley played the drums in the school jazz band, and Eydie was the vocalist.
Wow! Eydie could hit those high notes. Love all these songs from the Ed Sullivan Show. Especially the duets with Steve and Eydie!!!
Thanks for another Eddie Gorme video.
My hat is off to the sound engineer who had to adjust the sound board wearing headphones when she hit that high note…😂! I see at the time the show the old TV camera contained Izonascope TV pickup Tube by the sparkling dress effects…😂..which highlights that early sixties hairdo, still better than most of the early eighties Mullets…😂!
Have a great day!
I love this song. Just discovered it a couple of weeks ago. And last night at A Toast to Steve & Eydie at Zankel/Carnegie Hall, Debbie Gravitte sang it while wearing one of Eydie’s gowns. Magnificent evening. Magnificent song!
That's neat. Thx for the info. EYDIE FOREVER!
Maravillosa canción de La mezcla entre Bosa y Samba fue excelente la música de los años 60s la música de hoy es pura basura
😅 Fue excelente!
Beautiful, skilful, amusinmg, joyous, top class in all professional ways, so Bravo.
Fabulous Edie Gorme singing this wonderful song, appearing on the amazing Columbia Records 1963 album "Blame It On The Bossa Nova" with the smash top ten single of the same title.
That's a high EFlat above High C. There are coloratura sopranos that have problems with that note. Brava Eydie!
That fact would be good for a "Jeopardy" clue in the usual form of giving the answer.😊
She had a quite easy E as well. And an F above that. She studied as a coloratura.
@@MiltonBlackstone correct
@@KajiVocals she is awesome coloratura
@@KajiVocalsas a young trumpet player among my peers the goal was a g above the staff Maynard Ferguson was the god of high notes lyrical High notes not screeches back then
Jobim's vocal version of One Note Samba!!!!!
She has a voice like no.other..WOW
I always loved her and Steve when I was growing up watching those great variety shows of 1960s and 1970s
I saw her and Steve on Sep. 21st 1991 in Milan, as opening act for... Francis Albert Sinatra. What a night...
W - O -W! Fantastico indeed!!
I saw her and Steve on Sep. 21st 1991 in Milan, opening act for..... Francis Albert Sinatra.... What a night
Sooooo groovy!
She’s so cool 💫🩷🩵
Steve is now back with Eydie.❤
What a fantastic arrangement of this famous piece by Carlos Jobim. I played the original by Jobim for years but never heard it sung. Perfect lyrics too.
Barbra S. does it pretty well indeed ("I will pooour into that one NOOOTE" (love how she takes the up-an-octave note on that note)on her "B. Streisand and Other Musical Instruments" TV special " -- that's how I learned it -- (it's prob. here on UA-cam) but I mostly prefer Eydie's, here. YAY, EYDIE! ❤ a SUPERB, superb singer without the diva histrionics, apparently. YOU WERE sooooooooo MAGISTERIAL, MS. GORME! and we all THANK you so, for it!
@@virghammer1 agreed the arrangement is stunning those high notes are pure and true
What a Woman!
💯💯💯
Such talent
❤❤❤❤❤❤
SAMBA DE UMA NOTA SÓ, AUTORES NEWTON MENDONÇA E TOM JOBIM, GRANDE OBRA MUSICAL LINDA APRESENTAÇÃO E INTERPRETAÇÃO. PARABENIZO. ABRAÇOS CORDIAIS.
❤ Love Eydie , She Was Just FABULOUS Wonderful Voice 🌹😌
My mother LOVED the "We Got Us" album Steve & Eydie recorded circa 1960.
That s life recording
Fantastico! This is wonderful.
Rest In Peace Eydie Gorme
♥️
She was such a good singer
👏👏🇧🇷
Muito interessante, é uma mistura de samba com bossa nova. O Brasil já teve música boa, assim como os Estados Unidos e outros países, atualmente, as musicas são tão ruins e vulgares
Principalmente no Brasil
I especially liked the flashing LEDs on her dress. Eat your heart out Katy Perry!
Sorry to disappoint: The flashing lights were how the TV cameras of the time reacted to excess light. The sequined dress reflected light to the camera, which picked it up.
(old TV engineer)
@@WPM_in_ATL 🤣Good to know! Not disappointed.
@@jasonjames4254 It's called "comet tailing" when a moving object overloads the camera. You see it a lot on music programs where the musicians playing brass instruments move around.
Hoje em dia as música São ruins demais Vulgares Ruis Nem aqui no Brasil e lá fora tbm
Mas muito mais no Brasil
jew
Was she? I've always figured she was Spanish or French.
I sang backup in Vegas once for Steve and Eydie back aound 1980. While Steve fussed with the necessities of lights, etc., Eydie hung out with us. What a doll and what a range!
W - O - W! My jaw is LITEARLLY DROPPING OVER THE FLOOR here! Huge respect for you, brother. What a GEM, gem, gem gem of an experience. She sure could sing!!!!!!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Nossa que voz linda ela tem gostei não conhecia esta cantora, Obrigado por compartilhar conosco amigo
I liked, blame it on the bossa nova🎶🎶🎶
Do you have a recording of Noel Harrison's appearance on June 26 1960 when he performed Padam Padam?
That's when singers were CLASSY & GLAMOROUS🎉
She could use her voice like a musical instrument more than all but a few singers.
Well put! YES, INDEED. GO, EYDIE!
You are so fantastic Eydie Home.Lova ya!!😊
