  • Hey Ya'll!! In this video I will be detailing how I installed a CMC PT 35 Tilt Trim unit on my 16ft Jon Boat. I am SOO hype to get this thing out on the water to test its performance, though this video will focus on the install itself. Check it out! Don't hesitate to leave questions, I will try to answer to the best of my abilities. Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe!!! Tight lines and good tides people!
    Disclaimer: I am not a professional marine mechanic. I am showing how I attempted to modify my boat. Modify your boat at your own risk.

    I am going to take a cue tip and use fiberglass resin as well in the holes so that it soaks into the wood and provides a seal

      Do you still have this for sale? I’m interested. Just bought a 15’ boat and didn’t realize it only had manual tilt and trim.

    Hola muy buen video, soy de argentina aca no llega ese soporte y lamentablemente no lo podemos pedir por que es costoso por los impuestos. Me podrias decir por favor cual es el espesor del aluminio del soporte para hacerlo?

    I assume that the likes of steering cables, throttle and gear cables need to have a certain amount of required length as the motor is now in a different place ?

    I have a similar unit to install and have no idea on the height, isn't your motor way higher now it looks like it or is that how they work, I know you can't make your motor much higher than the transom or it will not work right. I know because i just added 2 inches to the top of my transom and its no good i have to cut it back to the original height.

    Just curious how much performance you got out of doing this? I just ordered mine and can’t wait to install. Also in curious if you now need to run a motor support when trailering?

    • @fishmaster797
      @fishmaster797  3 роки тому +3

      Appreciate the comment Josh. It has changed the game as far as performance. I can feel my boat jolt ahead when I trim it out properly. It also just helps because I fish in shallow water so it’s very nice to have the trim do the work rather than me manually doing it. I do run it with a transom saver (even before the trim plate), I’d definitely recommend getting one. Extra protection for your transom is never a bad idea. Thanks again, hope you enjoy your new upgrade man!!

    Good job,but you really do not discuss where to put it height wise..Did you just mount it where the instructions tell you?Also if it raised motor 3” your anti cavitation plate would be above the bottom of keel..Was it even with keel before installation?

      It’s been awhile but just big enough to slip the toggle through, I’ve since changed it the original because it went bad

    The 30 honda doesn't have trim?

    • @fishmaster797
      @fishmaster797  3 роки тому +1

      My motor did not have it. I do believe they offer it with trim. However, from what I saw, the honda brand tilt/trim was about $900 (maybe it’s lower on other sites) but I got the CMC for about $600. I like the CMC because it acts like a jack plate somewhat as it raised my motor a few inches plus it has the offset. Thanks for commenting!

    • @MrDavidelliottjr
      @MrDavidelliottjr 3 роки тому +1

      @@fishmaster797 i see the offset. I rather my inside against the stern. Better reverse. And less turbulated water. But it is a great concept if cheaper and it seems to work quickly. I have an old boat with an 2002 Merc 50. Trim is out and I seen your video. I think its a great alternative to the stock trim. Thank for the cool video.

    I don't know why anyone would buy the unit that will only lift a 35 hp engin when the 135 is onl;y a few dollars more.. makes no sense to me

      When I looked at the PT-130 it also required an adapter to use with clamp-on motor mounts for an extra $120. It also has very slightly more setback, probably not an issue but it adds to the center of gravity changes on the boat and the leverage acting on the transom.
