I'm a non pilot but flight sim enthusiast. These charts give me a headache and are so confusing. I applaud all you pilots out there who can figure this stuff out safely navigate.
24/24 headed for 31/31. “Thanks FAA” for always living up to your mission statement “We are not happy until you are not happy” !!! I’m confused, but then again, I’m VFR. Great lesson. Thanks Jason and team.
24 for 24, looks like you made this one yesterday as your beard looks the same! Student pilot here coming to terms with VFR sectionals. I thought the sectional charts were difficult, thank you FAA for making things even tougher changing colors between charts.
Another great video Jason. Comparing VFR flying with IFR is like apples to oranges... Both charts are easy to cipher once you understand the intent and purpose of them both. And despite Victor airways and T-routes (I use for backup and depending on terrain, will have segments of my flights use them), folks with GPS are flying direct more and more. Mountainous areas you can't always fly direct, but just look at the numbers on cleared routes... This is the single biggest use case for an EFB. I use Foreflight and toggle between the VFR sectional and IFR low enroute chart... I also use my GTN 750 Xi and filter out what is necessary. We have to be careful not to have too much information and have it create MORE workload vs. less. 🙂
Excellent video about the confusion regarding different charts. Thank you ...and keep posting, because that's the only way we'll be able to get things changed.
24/24. I prefer to fly using the VFR sectional (once I've used the IFR chart for flight planning). I will then overlay the Approach chart; however, I still really like having a paper chart, too!
I overlay approaches on and almost always fly the vfr chart. plan with the low in route mostly and don't go back to it unless needed. Thanks for the content
Thank you FAA, appreciate that!! 24 of 24 ... and when I fly, I am ashamed to say that I don't have my VFR chart up. Just using my satellite map view with airspace overlaid. I will work to use my VFR charts more as I venture out of my familiar airspace. Feed me more of IFR charts Jason.
Sectional with charts overlaid unless I’m in the Northeast or Florida. Thanks for your videos. Beginner or old timer there is always something to learn.
24 4 24. Good evening Jason, I have not looked much into IFR low en route charts as I fly mostly Canadian VFR and the fact that my aircraft is a VFR platform. For the moment I fly with ForeFlight that suits my apparent needs. Needless to say I did find your introduction to this platform slightly amusing and somewhat confusing but there were moments that were intriguing and informative. Thank you for bringing some key points up and their explanations to this non-IFR pilot
24/24 - I've been using the IFR charts since I became instrument rated but there has been a few times when transitioning to a pilot controlled airport that I need to bring up the VFR to help find the airport better. I'll continue briefing my route via IFR charts but I'm going to start using VFR charts more in my flying after this video for better situational awareness.
24 for 24 - I fly with an iPad mini mounted on the yoke, an iPad on my lap on the left and kneeboard on the right. When flying IFR I will have the IFR chart up on the yoke and VFR chart on the lap. I have a pencil attached to the kneeboard by a string to copy clearances and information.
How to read an IFR Low Enroute Chart. At which time of the video did you actually explain how to? The only thing i learn to read was the T and V route. The rest is just opinions and talks. Was expecting more like in details explanation. You should change the title to " Opinion on IFR Erc Low Charts"

Teaching as you do helps to not become confused and make the right decisions, so thank you, Jason!!
24 for 24!! will be getting IFR rating after PPL, this is great introduction
24/24! Loving this!
24 for 24 and glad you are taking the time and effort to share your expertise with us!
24/24 great information can't wait to start.
24/24! Enjoying this series!
24 for 24. Keep up the great videos.

Strong work. Thanks much for your time and efforts.
24/24. I do the same thing Jason. When flying IFR, I’m using the VFR charts on EFB
Excellent Training Video Jason. Thank You.
what an amazing person you are. Not just a great instructor , but a very nice person. Keep it up man. This country needs more people like you.
ELA for planning purposes but in the aircraft VFR sectional for better situational awareness.
Thanks for doing this, 24 for 24
24/24. I was cracking up when i saw SHREK and STNKY..lol Great lesson!!!

24 of 24... still working on the IFR so... mostly on the vfr charts.
Some lightbulb moments went off with this video. V airways being VOR, and the distance boxes I never really noticed before.
I like the VFR chart with plate overlay.

24/24 - “Thanks FAA”, even though I’m flying in EASA airspace
Hey Jason, I am 24 for 24! 😊
Thank you FAA, appreciate that!! 24 of 24
24/24....Lovin it!!

I like to fly Approaches with the plate on the ifr chart. I like to see the way point.
24/24 I normally have the aeronautical overlay on FF up on the iPad ...traffic easier to see...but with quick toggle to VFR sectional overlay.
Thank you, FAA!!!!
24/24. Just got 100% on the instrument written today.
I'm 24/24.
How would you measure distance on an IFR low chart for a route there is no airway for?
I am IFR rated but not current! Need to get back flying IFR. 24 for 24

24 for 24. Working through PP-OGA Lesson 10.
24/24. Thanks FAA!
24 4 24 thanks jason. Informative
24 for 24 and getting better
24/24 !
24-4-24/thanks, learning something everyday.
24 for 24 moving, no matter the Weather.......
24/24 very similar to canadian low enroute charts but less colors
24/24 of the 31-day safer pilot challenge.
24 for 24. just barely got a handle of VFR charts. Now theirs IFR
Nice job!
I'd bet Disney had a hand in naming some of those fixes...
