Never sewn anything before by hand or otherwise. I put a leather wrap on my Winchester, used this stitch. Looks great, feels great. Had no trouble doing it with the lever in the rifle. Just laid it my lap in the lazyboy no problem.

Are there any benefits between the baseball stitch and football stitch, aside from personal preference of appearance?
Its entirely appearance. The only thing to be aware of is that the football style takes more lace.
