I wasted too much time trying to prep everything, and it definitely took away from opportunities I had to run games, especially when you add in the amount of time I thought I had to take to create everyone's characters. Anything that can speed up the process is always better if it results in actual *play* time. And this book looks great. Wish I'd had one-shots when I started. Less waste = more fun. Also, your audio is fine.

I’m a massive advocate of just getting started, any play is better than none. I think preparation builds anticipation, which amounts to anxiety for some of us. The only way to get confidence is by experience so whatever helps get that going is a massive help! - Sam

That's cool! Also I think every game master struggles with some level of anxiety, mine is worst after I take a break from running. Nothing stresses me out more than coming back to a campaign after long time.

@@igrek4035 oh I completely agree! I’ll be picking a campaign back up in October and I’m definitely nervous to jump back in. My plan is to find a moment that really excites me for the first session back and hope I get caught up in that and not the dread😅 - Courtney

Straight up dude. I'm having to homebrew a much higher-level phandelver and below campaign because my players think way more tactically than they probably should.... I l9ve doing it, but it takes time and effort to make sure that they still have challenging encounters

@@zacharybigger4144 ah I know that feeling! We’ve been playing for years now and it’s pretty standard for our group to have to up the challenge of published adventures. Good on you for going to the effort and catering it to your group though it can certainly add an extra level to your prep. I often think of things I can add to an encounter to keep in the background of my mind just in case it doesn’t feel challenging enough to be satisfying. A group of minions as reinforcements, an ability or legendary action that can come into play if the enemies feel really threatened etc. One Shot Wonders does have a handy little suggestion box for changing the difficulty too which is handy when it’s a last minute game😊

Whenever I do a first session with a group of people, I get incredibly nervous and tend to over prepare. After the first one though, I tend to get used to the feeling and ease into a much more casual session prep, lowering my stress levels.

@@Maverick55Moose it’s good to know it’s more common than it seems😅 it’s definitely more relaxing when you get into the swing of a regular campaign. I found this book really handy for elevating that last minute play stress and managed to run it very smoothly with a single read through the night before, more to prove to myself that it would be fine than anything😂
