Me and a couple of friends were playing and we all did well that day, and as we were walking out we said hey lets play this and buy the bonus.
We played a $250 bonus split between the 3 of us thinking we wouldn't get all our money back but at least we would get a little.
So we started the feature and by the end we won a grand total of $12.50 (yes that is twelve dollars and 50 cents).
We were in shock at first and then just had to laugh. Lesson learned, never buy a bonus at least for us.

On another note, thank you, Brantley for the latest short and very instructive videos, like this one. I really appreciate it! After subscribing to your channel, I've found myself answering to comments in other channels, when they are ridiculous, like the one I answered today when someone said Cosmo was intentionally ripping people off because a machine was malfunctioning every time the bonus was popping up. The screen turned black and no bonus. It was a themed machine, and Cosmo is most likely not responsible for its maintenance, which I learned with you. It feels good to enter a casino having a much better idea what I'm getitng myself into. Thank you again!

I remember seeing a video of a slot earlier this year where in order to trigger the bonus, you had to gather enough of a special symbol. After gathering a certain amount(not the full amount), it allowed you to buy the bonus, however the amount to buy it lowered when you collected more symbols. In some parts of the video, the player ended up spending more "normally betting" to get the required amount of symbols to start the feature rather than what it would of cost to buy the bonus once the first offer to buy it appeared.

Right now I don’t think I would buy a bonus… I go to casino for fun and if I happen to win a jackpot then that is great! I kind of associate buying a bonus with getting a participation trophy! Lol… But never say never! 😂

I've seen some UA-camrs doing the bonus buying and it didn't turn out good for them. I think it's not worth it but just like gambling there's that small chance of getting a good bonus. It's just the matter of playing in the right place at the right time.

I've tried it at Viejas Casino in San Diego. It was fun, but prefer to do max bets on the ones with features for max bets. Usually lose, but it's about having fun.
I tried this twice on the Coin Trio Piggy Burst machines as an experiment. Both times I was up for the session and thought, "What is the worst I could do? Lose a few dollars or break even?" So I bought a bonus on a two cent denom, 1 credit bet ($70). The first time I won about $100, so just a little more than I purchased the bonus for. The second time (different machine, different casino) I got $19 and change - $50 less than the cost of the bonus. That answered my question about the worst I could do. 😂 I also felt cheated out of the entertainment of playing that $70, even when I won a few dollars on the first attempt.
I didn’t know abt the feature on this game but first time I played it I won like 800 bettin 4$ a spin…fun game but takes a while to get a bonus !
on the flintstones you can buy the racing mode and that is more less buying an horse racing ticket of your choice

You guys should do a video on this. Play one of these games and buy the bonus to see if it works. Problem is, on the videos I’ve seen it, $250 was the smallest buy in I think. It went up to $750 on some. So you have to bring a lot of money to do it multiple times. It’s like buying those expensive lottery tickets. You’re pretty much guaranteed to win something on them but it’s usually less than what the ticket cost.

I'v seen a few buy a bonus I don't relay like it myself & that's just me I found I win more with out havening to use the buy the bonus trigger but I'v been hinting handplay's on the droller slots lately more then any other slots.

Great info as always, l am starting to see these, never tried it, the house will always have the edge. When the time comes as a player, and you think you have the edge, its time to quit.
When my local got coin trio in, I happen to be there the day they turned them on. Slot attendants were egging me on to buy a bonus. I agreed IF my ticket went over $200. It eventually did, and ended up on the Pig coin trio. 60 cent wager, buy a bonus was $35. fortunately I got two 'pigs' and my bonus was like $42. It was fun, exciting, but probably won't ever do it again after watching this informative video. I did buy a bonus years ago on some butterfly machine, it was, shall I say, disastrous. I think what most people don't realize is, you pay a high amount but your bonus is only based on the wager that you are set to. In my case it was 60 cents, 35 dollars, and I won 42ish, so I was lucky!
Heres a video idea. Do one on those little bonuses you get sometmes where you click the screen to win a mini or major etc. Its obvious for anyone playing long enough its already decided.

Hey guys! Small request - can you guys a segment on the logistics on how the machine determines if it will pay or not? For example, a machine might pay out 90 percent, but when will it do that calculation to ensure it doesn't overpay? Does it know as you put money into the machine?

If a game has different denom options to play, 1cent, 5 cent, $1.00, etc. If your budget is to play $5.00 per spin is there an advantage to playing 1cent at the max for $5.00? Or the min of $5.00 on $5.00 denom?

In my experience, you either get totally hosed buying the feature. For example, you spend $20 to buy a bonus and you win back 3 Or 4 or you spend $20 and you win $100

I'd never do it, The Free Games machine I play alot (I'd guess) from playing a ton avgs $4.78 per bonus on 40 cent denomination. I play low wager alot and if this was offered for say $20.00 you would have to hit multipliers to get your money back and multiple multipliers hardly ever happens (only happened to me once in quite a bit of bonuses). Lol Pretty awesome topic man.

How are the long term odds/volatility worked into machines with buy a bonus. Does a game with the feature end up being more volatile than a game without it?
For me it depends on the price of the bonus. I don't go to the casino to get rich but I still like getting bonuses. It's not fun at all losing the same amount it would take to buy the bonus and never even seeing the bonus. So I would rather buy if the price is right.
I tried it it’s hard to decide which multiplier to go ahead and buy.
I did the special $40 monsterverse bonus, it gives you four screens instead of one a few times and it was not worth it of course

Tried it on a coin trio. Tried it once for $250 and got $300 back. Wasn’t expecting to even get a return. Saw someone use the feature shortly after and barely made $100 on the same buy. So it’s really all over the place.

In your videos, things get repeated numerous times making the videos lean towards the monotonous .

The other casino vloggers should listen to you Albert just put $500 in the new piggy bonus machine and played not even making what it cost to buy the bonus and he tried several different machines. I've tried them - no I didn't buy a bonus and they were fun to play for awhile as the bonuses came more often - but you never won big and made your money back.

I bought a feature of $20 on .20 cent bet. The casino won't pay me for my winnings because they said that I bet more than $10 while using the bonus. But I didn't bet more than $10? I bought a feature on.20 cent bet. I didn't even win on it.

I bought one of these bonuses for the lowest amount it was $35 and I won the major and got over $900
I've done it a couple of times. Once I profited but the second time I took a 75% loss. I've watched someone else and they took a 50% loss.
I’ve seen a few UA-cam slot players try this feature and yes on average, they lost money. It basically calculates what the slot would pay at a lower bet. Say you purchase a bonus for $500. It’s essentially like getting a bonus at around a $15 bet calculating about a 25x bonus on average each time, which comes out to about $375. You may get more or less like you said but play it an infinite amount of times and you’ll get your 75-80% payout. It’s basically similar to picking a mystery bonus on games like dancing drums. You’re gambling on whether you can randomly get a better feature by letting the rng pick it for you.
The only game I would even consider buying the bonus on is "Dean Martin" just so I could sing along.
