I got a X450 for Christmas and have been using it a few weeks. It is my first FP and I love it. It is definitely not cheap and flows beautifully. I have used it for writing and sketching and I love how I don’t have to apply any pressure, it is actually a habit I have to be conscious of lol. Great affordable pen

If you like gold plated trim and the Lamy style grip, get the X450. If you like silver coloured trim and a plain grip, get the X750. There is only one X450 with silver trim, the new Mk 11 Flighter fine nib.
The nib on my Jinhao 750 was impossible to remove. So I tried this method, and it worked. 1. Remove ink cartridge, rinse nib, blot dry 2. Cut a 25 cm (10 in) length of postal twine, double and knot to form a loop 3. Cut a 1x25 cm (0.5x10 in) strip of masking tape 4. Do 4 very tight wraps around bare nib at collar 5. Align loop strands with sides of metal nib 6. Do 8 very tight wraps around postal twine and nib 7. Grab cord and pen body firmly, pull using shoulders After this initial heroic removal, the nib was reasonably easy to remove with normal hand force. If you slightly dampen a folded paper towel, that will conform to the ribs in the feeder and make it less likely to deform them when pulling.
I have put a zebra g nib on my x750 and I love it. I get the fine I prefer while being able to do thick lines when I need to. It does feel alittle scratch but it has a sweet spot to it. Thank you for the video have a good day
Very nice review, thank you.. I got the X450, no complaints, great looking pen (even a two color nib, though it is hard as rock) and a decent writer. Inked it up with Pelikan Edelstein Topaz and ended up giving it to a guy at work who did not have a fountain pen. Now he bought his own and I got mine back. And I ordered the X750 just an hour ago. Just because. I own more expensive fohntain pens, but the X450 isn't any less fun to use. And it comes with a free converter! I paid as much for a Lamy converter as for the whole X450...
I bought two Jinhao x750's... They are very wet pens, but my Birmingham Andrew Carnegie steel blue ink dries quite quickly... I can't believe how well these pens perform for such a cheap price point... They are quite heavy but it dosen't bother me....

Great comparison video. I prefer the x450 due to the grip - I have a really strange hand position when I write that sometimes results in unintentional pen rotation, so for me it's nice to have something to keep my pen oriented correctly.
At this time, Jinhao pens in general are well worth more than they cost. I have easily 30 (almost no duplicate models), and they've all been great. Whatever type or shape you like, there's probably a Jinhao. I've not seen any with other than medium (generally the bigger number 6 nibs), fine (generally their number 5 nibs, but they started making a number 6 in fine), and hooded type in an extra fine that's actually close to their fine. Plus, they have a few with a Lamy type in fine and extra fine. Quality appears to have been hit or miss several years ago, but in the 30+ I have, I've not gotten any that didn't write straight away. And there's options for swaps to different nibs, as the number 6 and 5 are pretty industry standard. (There's also a Waverly type that fits in the hooded ones, made by "Bobby" from his Etsy and eBay stores. Great, smooth, nice, wet... And only about $2.50 USD plus shipping. Makes it more of a fine, but well worth it, IMO. Not a paid spokesman. Just a satisfied customer. 😁)
I have a question. Can I use X750 grip on X450? Is it gonna fit or not? I personally don't like the triangular grip on X450 but I really love it's look.
Exactly my feelings. The X450 looks much better but that ugly dented grip is a deal-breaker for me. If only the 750 grip would fit the 450, I’d buy the 450.
wife got me a 750 as a stocking filler for xmas and its amazing ,so smooth never in a million years does it feel like a 5 quid pen im blown away compared to a stndard 20-30 quid parker its in a different league ......maybe i got lucky with the nib but its flawless

I too bought a couple of Goulet #6 nibs (Fine & Med) and swapped them onto a Jinhao X750 and a PENBBS 308 acrylic, made them from already good pens to excellent writers. As to the ink stain on your fingers, mine are the same, always, as this shows that we constantly muck about with our pens and is the common bond among us pen lovers. I like to wear it like a "badge of honour" ;-). Keep them videos coming, cheers.

I think I'll go with the x450 then, preferably the pink one if I could find any in my local online store. Now I just wonder if the pen comes with a converter already included... Great video. Does having the Goulet nib make much difference in the way the pen writes? Perhaps you could do a video on the difference between the 450 with a stock nib and one with a Goulet nib. I would also be interested in seeing HOW to change the nibs.
I have exchanged nibs on about 5 of my Jinhao X750 and a couple of X450 pens. I exchanged most for a stub nib, and a couple of a medium nib. After learning how to tweak a nib (smoothing or shimming), I use the stock medium nib which comes with Jinhao. However, I have had good success with the Goulet stub nibs. A nice quality nib, which has not disappointed me. I will acknowledge one of my Goulet stub nibs required a bit of tweaking to improve the writing experience. No. Neither is a soft nib… you can get some line variation out if it if you push it, but you absolutely can spring the nib VERY easily. They are a standard non-flex, non-soft steel nib.
Old video but still relevant. I agree with you , I really wish the x450 didn't come with the grip that it does. I much prefer the body and shape of the x450 but can't stand the grip.
The grip does push you to hold the pen correctly, just like the Lamy. It is a design feature which has helped many to make that adjustment. Also you can switch the grip with the X750, which does not have that design feature.
It's a fountain pen -- is there line variability? Can you make a wider line by pushing harder? How much wider? Please do not skip this pertinent information in your reviews.
The nibs on the Jinhao are NOT flex nibs, and were not designed for flexing. If you do what you have suggested, you will spring your nib,, and it will be of no further use. Just buy a #6 flex nib - like a Noodler's #6 flex nib, and then you can flex all you want. You can also exchange your Jinhao nib for a Zebra-G nib for flexing. FPR (Fountain Pen Revolution) has a nice flex nib. Check them out. Hope this helps.

Ingrid: A 0.5 mm. nib is usually more like a fine/medium nib. A 0.6-7 nib is a definite medium. There is a Jinhao 450A and Jinhao X450 -- difference is found in clip and color range. Nib is the same. Amazon sells the Jinhao 450A as the Jinhao Royal. It is a nice brown marble. It just a little nib smoothing (if you are having a problem), will make for a smoother writing experience.
Zhang Wei; Have you learned how to smooth a nib, or how to shim a nib in order to address some of the concerns most pen enthusiast might have. You can tweak a Jinhao nib, and discover a very different writing experience--one that you will enjoy. I would encourage you to check out Stephen Brown's UA-cam channel on how to go about this. All fountain pen collectors usually learn these skills, for even nibs of costly pens have periodically required some tweaking.

@ Camlin is not good. I use Parker ink, that is better. But be careful when using fountain pens, once the nib is broken it is not easily available esp in India..like in my case.
@@srinivaskandru5034 Who says nib is not available in India? You can get nibs from old-style pen (repair) shops in places like Chennai, Bangalore etc., where some still exist. You can get Jinhao nibs from ASA pens on line..You can look out for Kanwrite nibs - they are available on line, but run out of stock frequently. As for inks, let me tell you: I am using Bril inks for the last 60 years ( before 1964, that brand was known as 'Iris'.) They have been good- am using fountain pens for more than 65 years, and NONE of my pens has been spoiled because of the Iris/Bril ink that I use. [ I have more than 100 pens] Since April 2019 , I am using Daytone inks- these are available on line , more easily than Bril. This also seems to be good. You get a pack with 15 colours. Well, I used Camlin ink years ago, ( when I was in Mumbai, where Bril was not easily available) and it was good. But today, it is Kokuyo-Camlin. It is also good. [ Camlin has been a standard and respected Indian brand for many decades. Kokuyo is more than a century old Japanese company. The Japanese are very conscious of quality and would never lend their name to any sub-standard stuff.] These Indian inks are good- for general writing. Let us not underestimate them. Let us not fall for Western foreign brands which are terribly over-priced.

I think that the X450 handicap lies in their cap threads absence.

buy a 450 and thank me later. Both are great to own but 450 has a better grip while writing in my opinion.
If you prefer the 450 with the 750 grip just change the bodies on the pens since they are same other than that aspect.

It’s happened on a couple of mine. the main reason Ive found is that the plastic liner in the cap has split. Check if thats the problem

As for inks, let me tell you: I am using Bril inks for the last 60 years ( before 1964, that brand was known as 'Iris'.) They have been good- am using fountain pens for more than 65 years, and NONE of my pens has been spoiled because of the Iris/Bril ink that I use. [ I have more than 100 pens]
Since April 2019 , I am using Daytone inks- these are available on line , more easily than Bril. This also seems to be good. You get a pack with 15 colours.
Well, I used Camlin ink years ago, ( when I was in Mumbai, where Bril was not easily available) and it was good. But today, it is Kokuyo-Camlin. It is also good. [ Camlin has been a standard and respected Indian brand for many decades. Kokuyo is more than a century old Japanese company. The Japanese are very conscious of quality and would never lend their name to any sub-standard stuff.] These Indian inks are good- for general writing. Let us not underestimate them. Let us not fall for Western foreign brands which are terribly over-priced.
@@nanjappa42 I have searched so many online sources, but I could not get it. If it is really available as you said, I am the most happiest person. Because I kept them aside in in this corona pandemic even if I am interested to use that. Thank you so much sir. If it is still not available I will comment again, Please help me.
