Hi Craigo! Thanks for making such informative videos. I wanted to know if teaching experience works as PER for CIMA. I have teaching experience of 5 years teaching all Commerce subjects including Management Accounting. Thanks❤
Hey! I’ll be honest I’m not sure on careers outside of Accounting & how accessible they are for PER. If I were you, I would check with CIMA :) Thanks Craig
Hello. Thanks for the info, I am currently at the certificate level. I am thinking of working when I jump into the operational level? Then I can study and work at the same time. What do you suggest.
Hi Craigo, great video and I’m hoping you can help. I’ve just finished my strategic OTs so am ready to submit PER via existing route, but I’m very worried about the 18 months core experience criteria, although I do have 3.5 yrs experience as accounts assistant in a hospital doing varied ad-hoc finance tasks throughout, mostly AP. I’ve not held any senior finance position, some of the examples on the CIMA guidance is not stuff I do at my level (e.g. risk management, costing, etc.) the only thing I contribute towards is working capital control, however my contribution towards this is limited in the grand scheme of things (e.g. chasing people to approve their invoices, resolving PO queries, etc.), is this likely to be sufficient you think or do CIMA expect core experience to be more high level involvement. The guidance from CIMA is very vague on this and open to interpretation. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks
Hey mate, sounds like you're going down the updated requirements route, can you confirm? Have you checked out the existing requirements path? I had the same concerns as you so went for the existing route!
@@CRAIGO10 hi, I’ve looked and considered both but going to go existing route. The current existing CIMA guidance does state 18 months core experience as I printed off all the guidance. I have been involved with various end of month tasks throughout (e.g odd journal, basic management reporting, etc.) but nothing of senior significance, my role is more overall contribution/assistance for what ever they need me to do. I have wide variety of various things I’ve done I’m just worried these might be perceived as ‘Basic’ because of my junior perceived position. Is it just more how you word the detailed experience and about showing a breadth of finance experience, or in your experience will they be looking for a more specific held role (e.g. min 18 months as Management Accountant) for the core. I did do a 10 month secondment as a MA on part time basis, but this finished recently so I’m back in my junior role. I’m probably over thinking this all, but the other part of me is worried it will fail and they will force me to leave my job for a more senior/specific role to obtain what they consider to be 18 core experience, which I’m not ready to do yet for a host of various reasons, not lack of ambition. Apologies for the long comment, but hopefully you see my dilemma!
As far as I’m aware, you don’t need senior significance for the existing route. CIMA is aimed at people new into accounting and I highly doubt many students will possess! To me it certainly sounds like you have enough, just be sure to get all of your experience on paper, and if you have doubt, spend some more time working to get more experience before submitting 😁
@@CRAIGO10 that’s great, thanks for the feedback, as PER has been worrying me. There just so little guidance or previous approved examples to reassure students what they expect, unlike the OT question practice or past case study papers. Thanks again anyway
Hi Craig, as always many thanks for creating and uploading such useful content for us! I have a question which I hope you don't mind answering. I'm starting my CIMA journey through self study. I wonder is it possible to just use Astranti ( as the course content) + the purchase of Kaplan revision books and CIMA aptitude tests to pass all certificate level exams? Would be good to get your insight on this!
No problem man! My knowledge is desirable for all students and I want to spread my knowledge to people in the same position as I was! 😄 Absolutely, that is a great route to study! The Astranti material will give you everything you need for sure! When you sign up make sure you use my link to support and allow further investment into my channel! astranti.com/amember/aff/go/craigo Good luck with your exams!
I can only speak for the UK market, but in my opinion if you have a CIMA qualification then you are a sought after individual. If I got made redundant tomorrow, I don't think I'd have difficulty finding another role. Thanks mate, appreciate it :)
Hey Craigo
The videos are getting better and better!
Keep at it man
Thank you man 🙏🏻🙏🏻 doing my best to make the videos better & better!!

Thank you sir for the information 😊!
You are welcome Arjit!
If I made 18 months as purchase ledger accountant (in corporations) before starting study Cima does it count in Per?
I believe so! Cannot say for sure though as I don’t know the experience you have :)

I would aim to get a job as soon as possible. You need three years work experience which isn't a short amount of time by any means!

Hi, May I know whether cgma flp candiadate can apply for Per in advance before sitting for the scs exam?
That’s a great question that I do not know the answer too. I would say it is probably the same as the traditional route
Is 3 year Accounting Experience In US Accounting is accepted by cima
I suspect so, as long as the work experience has the required competencies!
How difficult is it finding work as a Cima student? Well done on finishing your qualification 💪🏽
