A Brazilian classic, it's my dad's favourite fragrance. You should try Essential Oud, from Natura. It's a very good scent, also a classic in Brasil. Malbec bleu is my current signature fragrance.
Brazilian gang where are you??? 😃 It's the Brazilian "One Million", everybody knows and already wore it at least once... Probably the most sold fragrance in Brazil of all time! It has lots of flankers as well, every year we get a new flanker...

Ohh oBoticario I love those perfumes, when I was in Brazil that was my jam.
It's so nice to watch an internacional review of a Brazilian brand! O Boticário has some awesome perfumes in their catalogue. I'd recommend Malbec Absoluto or Malbec Club Intenso (not exactly sure of their names in the US though), if you want a more modernised smell of this classic.

This fragrance was a big sensation here in Brazil since it's release. Many says that the current formulation is weak, I have to agree. Today Malbec is outdated for many ppl, It got a bad fame also because many guys used to overspray it on the heat. For me it's a cool and timeless frag.
You really have to get Malbec Signature!! It's hard to get in US but so good! The bottle design is awesome too!!

Try malbec noir, it has more of this wine smell, and last longer
O Boticario is a well known Brazilian brand comparable to others like Avon, Yves Rocher, etc. Malbec is probably their top seller and a classic icon... One of the most sold fragrances of the brand worldwide and it has been around for ages, it kind of suffers from the same karma fragrances like PR 1 Million and JPG Le Male do, at least in Brazil because everyone has it and everyone wears it... From what I know from my Brazilian friends the brand is seen by many as the poor folk's brand but I actually find it has some nice scents and some nice quality... One of my favourites is Coffee Seduction, a nice warm coffee seductive and gourmand scent, lovely to wear around fall and winter 😉 👍

Yes, I love this scent but I dont feel like wearing it here, since everyone wears it or at least has smell it 100 times before. It's like dior sauvage in the US.

Malbec is SOOOOO popular in Brazil. Never had it but I know how it smells pretty well... It has tons of flankers.

I really like this fragrance, I would say it smells a bit dated here in brazil, because since it has been out for so long. unfortunately everyone wears it here. But I'm taking it with me when I travel outside of the country.

You should try The Blend Bourbon, the best brazilian gourmand fragrance, it’s also from oBoticario, it’s simply insane. And the other best brazilian fragrance is Essencial Único from Natura, you should try these two!
The malbec names comes from the fact that the alcohol used in the base is distiled out of wine. And it does remind a bit of a malbec wine, even though it is not listed as a note

I've always wanted to try this one! Malbec wines have always been my fav, plus I love the green frags of yesteryear so this one sounds like a no-brainer. So many in the Malbec line, but this one and Absoluto are the 2 I've been eyeing for a while. I think it's a pinot noir note in the Noir flanker too. Wouldn't mind adding that one to the trio.
You need to know the fragrances by Natura, from Brazil, like Ekos Alma, some perfume from the Homem or Essencial lines.

Hi Steven, Im from Brazil. O boticario here probably is the most popular brand and Malbec their most popular fragrance, they have around 20 Malbec flankers. For my taste the bests in the line are Malbec Club Intenso and Bleu (that has a similar vibe to acqua di gio profondo, but woodier). I didnt try every flanker, the other ones are 90% heavier for cold weather. The one that remember most of wine smell is Malbec Noir, is a good one too.
The other big brand of the country is called Natura and in my opinion they have some better fragrances than O boticario, in terms of quality.
I have O botacario Malbec Signature. Also Malbec absoluto and sport!

Hi Steven! Great review! I’m immediately fascinated by this scent (as I used to work as a sommelier back in the day). Interested to see if the fragrance is really trying to reference the wine. If it is, my guess would be the pepper note. Malbec (especially from Argentina & the New World in general) is full bodied with dark jammy fruits, pepper, spice, and leather to meaty notes (very savory). Makes sense for a stereotypical “male” fragrance. I’ll have to search it out! Thank you for this very cool review!
