- Quick 0-100 km/h acceleration run with the recently facelifted 2017 Seat Leon Cupra 300 delivering 300 hp and 380 Nm of torque through a 6-speed DSG and FWD. In case you are wondering about the 4Drive (AWD), that's only offered on the new Leon ST Cupra 300, featuring same engine and transmission. The sound is of course similar to the Cupra 290 we tested last year, but it has more tone to it and less "pops" and "bangs". Specifically the crackles on downshifts are more present than in the 290, but the super-loud bang/fart at upshifts is gone! Not been funny but a 4wd will out perform a fwd from a standing start, but in normal conditions when a RS or S3 and a VW r comes along side of you say on the motorway I know the cupra 300 waves goodbye to all of them

mike walling Less transmission losses in a FWD car as opposed to an AWD car.. So in terms of wheel HP the Cupra will be more powerful than the golf. Also like you say, due to the AWD system in the Golf it weights ~200kg heavier than the Cupra so with a rolling start the Cupra will win every time.

The cupra should have more of a better launch control system were it actually limits wheel slip for better traction off the line instead of violently spining the wheels

One of my the best hot-hatches I've ever driven, but I must admit that the launch-control isn't very effective, as it tramlines & has little traction off the line. Better off launching it manually.

Julian J 5.1 is probably the best it can do. Remember, is fwd, not awd. The awd oficial time is 4.9.
pokest225 he could have tried multiple times to get the best acceleration and try launching without launch control.
He did probably, and sure the video is the better launch he achieved. 5.1 in a front Wheel drive car, is almost imposible. At least is the best I´ve ever seen in a front Wheel drive car. But relax, when they can test the awd model, you will probably see under 5 seconds 0-100.
Julian J this car slips no matter what on gear 1, launch control is the quickest way to get this car to 100 etc. 5.1 is amazing. this launch was good comparing to others and mine. must be sticky asphalt. when launch without launch control the car has lag from the cluth(dsg).
Not impossible! My previous fully tuned Ibiza Cupra TDI with dynoed 300Hp and 500nm made 5.0 on road tyres. Naturally with LSD, hard bushings... Before anybody claim about the 0-100..The car did 12.6@184 on dragracing events!!!! So this is more than official.

Fixed mine with polyurethane engine mount(s). It was actually laughably easy to install. Wonder why they let those cars out of the factory like that.

N. Steinberg only available in st body with dsg. In the hatch body there is only front wheel drive available. As the one in this video.

Certains articles parlent bien d'une Cupra R, mais à priori pas en 4RM. Ce serait sans doute pour taquiner la nouvelle Civic Type R de 320ch.

Ich verstehe nicht ganz, warum Seat den Allrad nicht auch für den Leon anbietet, sondern nur für den Leon ST. Geht es da irgendwie um Bauraum...? Aber der Golf R (als nicht Kombi) hat ja auch Allrad...
Das ist zwar keine Begründung dafür, warum man im ST den Allrad wählen kann und im normalen Leon nicht, aber mir ginge es auch gar nicht darum, die Frontriebler bei einem Ampelstart abzuziehen, sondern um die bessere Traktion bei Nässe und vor allem im Winter.

+KpunktS Ist tatsächlich marginal schneller als ein Cupra 290 / GTI Clubsport, wegen des schneller schaltenden DSGs würde ich sagen. Ein Golf R / Audi S3 ist auf Grund ähnlicher Leistung und mehr Gewicht zumindest ab 100 km/h sicherlich NICHT schneller, evtl. sogar minimal langsamer. Aber Vorsicht, hier vergleichen wir FWD mit AWD.

Just a piece of shit, the Astra J OPC 2014 got lower Horsepower but better torque (280hp for 400nm vs 300hp for 380nm for the Leon ) this a shame for a recent car to be beaten by an ''Ancient'' 2014 model....
GeeksterzChannel This Cupra Will destroy the opc in any test you want. The Astra is not that powerful, and it's too heavy. Surpased by All the rivals now.

Leon 1375kg 380 Nm between 1800-5500 rpm
Come on now. You know Vauxhalls don't like 0-60, they tend to blow up. Then there's the issue of handling. I've never seen the Astra listed in the same tests as things like the Cupra, Civic Type R and Megane RS, and for good reason I imagine. The Cupra is also almost 200kgs lighter so your extra 20nm is ..........well...........not gonna help.
