    How can you compare two guitars if you play two different songs? You said a lot of incorrect things.

    D18. Too much fuss over the 28. D18. That's it.

    My feeling each time I play those two guitars :
    * Mahogany : OPEN and crispy sound. The bass is thumpy on the good pieces.
    * Rosewood : a way more closed sound and more deep in the bass. The trebles are « shiny » and clear.

    They feature different bracing also. The D28 is straight / “non-scalloped” top bracing. D18 is scalloped top bracing. Both are toward shifted X-bracing.

    Sounds like you have it backwards:
    You say that the D18s occupies the midrange so it doesn't get in the way of vocals? How is that? Vocals = midrange (mostly)
    You also state that the D28 occupies the lower frequencies so it goes well together with a lower voice registry. Why?? Again: If something plays in the very same frequency range it DOES get in the way. ...So I can't follow the logic here.

      No he is actually correct. D28 takes up more of the sort of midrange presence the average male vocals take up in a mix. D18 is better if you want to focus on the lyrics, D28 has more punch and presence. I personally own D28 and D35, but D18 usually gives the vocals more space. I have a Gibson that sits more like a D18 does in a mix.

    At least do your research and know what material the pins are before you demo the guitar,and just so you know the pins with the red dots are "liquid metal " now you know 😀

    • @paddyc8200
      @paddyc8200 5 років тому

      Mitch Wild if the bridge pins have a red centre dot yes my friend they are liquid metal.

    • @paddyc8200

      Mitch Wild and are they liquid metal?

    • @paddyc8200
      @paddyc8200 5 років тому

      Mitch Wild iv just had a look on the Martin forum and it seem that there were and probably are still many Martin guitars that have white pins with red dots and they are not liquid metal so I stand corrected,sorry about that,every days a school day :)

    Not a great comparison. The songs you played were not the same, and they were spaced out which makes it hard to compare. I guess whoever designed this video never watched a functional guitar comparison video. Also, stop slapping the guitar like a damn bass guitar. I can't wait for the cheesy percussive trend to fade out.

      Agreed! Hitting a chord and then slapping it, totally kills the sound dead! Does not give an idea of how big a sound the guitar has. These people that do percussion on there guitar, get a set of bongos and put the guitar down!

    Not a good comparison. Slapping strings isn't something very many guitarists do, because it's an 'improvised' style at an attempt to make up for lack of skill. Try straight fingerpicking without all of the extra 'slap and twang' and you'll get a better sound.
