Wow .. you guys are doing a great job on the hemi .. an having fun at it too.. I’m excited to see what ur putting it in An Here it run.. I jus got my truck back today from transmission shop..it has 46RE in it with all the mods done to the 5.9 I was telling you.. now the transmission is all professionally done .. had performance torque converter built An matched to my cam specs an all high performance heavy duty parts internal as well as stage 2 shift kit new pan new trans cooler bigger than stock one .. man oh man does it shift An work sweeeeet !! Chirps wheels in second An third when gettin on it !! An what a difference in power an take off ,it jus makes that speedometer dance up to 100 mph in a flash .. she has 392 rear posi too.. guess you can say I treated myself, as today my 51st birthday too.. keep these videos coming I really enjoy them !!👍👍
Right on happy birthday to you as well !! An I think next mod might be a intake an 4 barrel throttle body .. actually from Hughes engines .. they have a nice kit they sell !
Hell yeah badass . I just finished on my rebuilt I have an 07 charger 5.7 the rod bearing spun on the crank and did a lot of damage. 1 1/2 months later the engine is back in the car and I’m doing her first start up today.
I owe my build to videos that you do and what others without your videos I would never have done my build thank you so much for you making your videos.
I'm going to try it right now I can actually even cut the Piston off because all I need is the rod but I'm not going to do that I'm going to try to use my ball joint press and a torch
So I just want to point out and im not bashing this video at all but a warning when you said that the writing on the rod goes to the opeset of the arrow on the piston that this is not the case on my hemi and I followed your video and ended up having to push them all back out and put thenm in the right way facing to the front just thought I'd let you guys and other people know that might use this video for a reference that it is different on some hemi's thanks for the video
I have a 2011 ram 5.7 hemi st the engine was sitting in the rain so the Cylinder walls got rusty i tried honing but it to far gone so I was thinking of boring it over to fit a 0.020 over pistons the question is can i keep the same 5.7 crank along with the stock camshaft lifters I'm not looking for more power then it already has stock i seen people put 6.1 crank when they go oversized to 0.020 i cant return the 5.7 crank i bought so thats why i was wondering
My 2006 ram procharged ram spun a rod bearing. Currently there isn’t any rebuild(forged) engine offered. I might have to rebuild myself considering a lot of machine shops are not taking any work because they’re backed up. Crazy times we’re living. Bores look good. I plan on going forged Manley stuff. Are installing forged units more complicated than a regular rebuild? I am comfident on doing it myself just want to make sure if I’m going to spend $4k in parts I don’t destroy motor.
I looked for the link on the dnj pistons can't find them. What's so special about these pistons compared to the stock replacement? The pistons on the newer 5.7 are all the same all that changes is the heads and the squish area that's why compression bumps up eagle heads compared to earlier models. I'm gunna be running 6.1 heads with a home made 5 layer mls from the stock gasket it works they say. But my question stands what's the difference in the pistons
So how do you find the ebay stuff holding up. My 5.7 dropped a valve and I cant find one around were I live. Liking about one of the Amazon kits anyone do that
I have a question I have a 2004 dodge 1500 hemi will pistons from a 5.7 2009-2021 fit in the engine due to the compression being 10:5-1 on the newer engine and the older being 9:5-1
I just dissambled a 2017 5.7 hemi, the connecting rods were not installed with the printed letters opposite of the arrow... as a matter of fact, they, "digital print" was randomly facing. So, I am installing the wrist pins for this and just make sure that the digital print is facing the opposite way of the arrow on the piston right?
@@RacingRamFam I checked about this and it does have one side that is offset and thicker at the crank and that thicker side faces outward toward the crank. So piston 1 has the thick bevel facing forward then piston 2 will be back, 3 forward, 4, rear. Thank you for your reply, I am just trying to make it through this build and not eat a rod or blow my money.
They say it in the video dummy. If your pistons don’t have arrows then it’s to note 4 rods go towards the boss on one side and 4 rods point away from the boss. I forgot which side goes what way but it’s easy to find.
Thanks guys for watching! If you want to see the full hemi build check it out here: ua-cam.com/play/PLeEwppcCDh6YWh2XLo7nNErvUgWqtVqAP.html

Hey Tuesday was my birthday! Happy birthday to you 🎉 and that’s awesome sounds like a fun truck what’s the next mod?
Right on happy birthday to you as well !! An I think next mod might be a intake an 4 barrel throttle body .. actually from Hughes engines .. they have a nice kit they sell !
Oh yes I have it on my plow truck! It’s been on there for the last 6 years
Hell yeah badass . I just finished on my rebuilt I have an 07 charger 5.7 the rod bearing spun on the crank and did a lot of damage. 1 1/2 months later the engine is back in the car and I’m doing her first start up today.
Nice man how did start up go?
She’s purring like a tiger I feel very proud this is my first engine build.
@@rafaelfuentes7572 that’s awesome man

"Heh heh. He said polish the crank. Heh heh" - Beavis and/or Butthead
😂
Holy Frick,
Those pistons are cheaper than a set of KBs for my old magnum!!!!!
I know hopefully they hold up well 🤔
I'm going to try it right now I can actually even cut the Piston off because all I need is the rod but I'm not going to do that I'm going to try to use my ball joint press and a torch
It works good just wait till rod starts to get a little color change
So I just want to point out and im not bashing this video at all but a warning when you said that the writing on the rod goes to the opeset of the arrow on the piston that this is not the case on my hemi and I followed your video and ended up having to push them all back out and put thenm in the right way facing to the front just thought I'd let you guys and other people know that might use this video for a reference that it is different on some hemi's thanks for the video
Mine were all good so must different. New video will be out Sunday of total reassembly
@@RacingRamFam yea I dont know if it matters mine is a gen 3 hemi

Yes you just need a oversized pistons and everything else stock is fine
@@RacingRamFam thanks bro you responded fast lol love the video btw
@@RacingRamFam also do you know what the size of the bore would be if i go to 0.020 over from stock or does the shop knows all that info
Why all the commenters beating around the bush?
Fluffy was in the corning polishing his shaft.
Replay the tape. 😝
Very true 😂😂

Not more complicated but you do have to get your rotating assembly balance if you change from factory rods and pistons
What makes the 5.7 hemi look like two V4 engines back to back
I looked for the link on the dnj pistons can't find them. What's so special about these pistons compared to the stock replacement? The pistons on the newer 5.7 are all the same all that changes is the heads and the squish area that's why compression bumps up eagle heads compared to earlier models. They’re just stock replacement pistons
Have the Pistons held up?
What is the measurement of piston diameter and lifter for a 2010 5.7 engine
3.92
So how do you find the ebay stuff holding up. My 5.7 dropped a valve and I cant find one around were I live. Liking about one of the Amazon kits anyone do that
I love eBay
can i mix the piston? or does it have a certain position to sit?
The piston wrist pin hole is offset from factory that’s why there’s a arrow on all the pistons.
How much would a machine shop charge to install rods and pistons
Idk prob $30 a piece
We get $10 a piece to R&R. Southwest Virginia.
I have a question I have a 2004 dodge 1500 hemi will pistons from a 5.7 2009-2021 fit in the engine due to the compression being 10:5-1 on the newer engine and the older being 9:5-1
Nope.
Perfectly palished. 😂
Jt always palishing things lol
What is dis.of piston
What bolts did you use to mount the engine block?
Hey does those gaps work for stock, I gotta change out the rings. New to this thanks in advance
I would do tighter if just stock application prob .016 top and .018 bottom
So for stock application can you just use the piston rings as they come? Or will you have to gap them?
Did y'all ever get the hemi put back together? Any more goodies installed?
Nope still laying around the garage waiting for reassembly
Can we call this project, “ drill bit”
That does sound cool 😎
How did the DNJ pistons hold up? I just got some for my turbo build.
Idk never been boosted
Yes but how did the pistons hold up?
Did you use the same connecting rods? Or bought new ones
Same connecting rods
I was wondering, why did you not use forged rods? Because the rods seems to be the weak and break
Where is the video for measuring bearings
Great info
Check the 5.7 hemi playlist video

That’s how all mine were! Digital print was opposite of the arrow I don’t think it really matters tho

Twin turbo it now! 1000hp or bust
Big big facts
Don’t let this video hit 100,000 likes 😂😂 jk love the content but don’t do it please 😭
Arron Paul's brother?
My hemi start a tikin noise
Probably broken exhaust manifold bolt or lifter eating the camshaft
How much hp
Stock hp lol 😂
I always wanna do a rebuild like this, then boom a couple grand gone
Dang! Not to expensive to do
You should really correct your video on direction of the connecting rod and pistons
They say it in the video dummy. If your pistons don’t have arrows then it’s to note 4 rods go towards the boss on one side and 4 rods point away from the boss. I forgot which side goes what way but it’s easy to find.
Once she’s all back together maybe engine dyno time? Fluffy in a bikini 🤔
That be awesome 👏🏻
