I think everyone that has asked God to use them has paid some form of price. In my opinion Nobody WANTS continuous suffering. My first day in my prison cell with two lifers God spoke prayers through me as I slept. Threw one of my cell mates off because when asked if I was aware, I was not. Obviously what was prayed was what he needed to hear🤷🏽♂️ Following and trusting God can be frustrating and that’s true honesty from the heart. Fascinating, I never expected myself to have to run through many years of trials. Honestly, I am happy and comfortable now; was it worth it? It was harder to receive God than it isn't let's just put it that way. Based on the most regular of humans, I can see many flaws in people that would anger God enough to walk away. I think everyone in the world starts a trial, but they make a decision whether to walk alone or trust in God. It's kind of like: 1. Do you want to do things that will crush your spirt, but later bring you salvation 2. Do you want to bypass the trial and trust in yourself (prosper on Earth). I don't know the rules, but I'd hazard a guess that God ends the trial as soon as you step out of line or if you're too spiritually weak to keep going. It's a choice, but it means giving up what other people seem to have in abundance and live the opposite lifestyle. From my experience, Salvation does not come free, he needs to see you show mercy.

This is why we need to call upon the Spirit to strengthen us, and more to be a good example unto others. By so doing, so many people see the power of God for his children who who walk in light and truth. Amen.

The Bible teaches to be saved IMMEDIATELY, PERMANENTLY and ETERNALLY the only requirement is to BELIEVE The Gospel (that the Eternally Existing Son of God died for all your sins according to the Scriptures, was buried and rose again on the 3rd Day according to the Scriptures for your justification) (1st Corinthians 15:1-4, Romans 4:25)
But arguably the most of the institutional church teach a 3 step plan to be saved including 1. Repenting of all your sins which he taught was a change of behavior. 2. Believing in Jesus. 3. Committing one's life to follow and obey Jesus (Lordship Salvation)
Plain and simple.
The Broad Road that leadeth to destruction Jesus spoke of in Matthew 7:21-23 is the man centered law/works based gospel and all who believe/teach it which happens to be the overwhelming vast majority of Christianity and ALL other religions.
"To him who WORKETH NOT but BELIEVETH on Him that justifieth the ungodly his FAITH is credited to him as righteousness." Romans 4:5
"For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever would BELIEVE in Him would not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
