@@drowningin I know, I simply thought it would be really hard for anyone to mess up a port of a ps2 game, and well modern devs are always ready to prove us wrong.
Because they upscaled the textures using AI and didn't bother to compress any of them. Furthermore, the game wasn't designed with this in mind: every "map" is a separate package, which has models and textures in it. Meaning, when you play on Bespin and see clones running around, those models are backed into the Bespin map. And the ones on Utapau are backed into the Utapau map. Nothing is shared across maps, even stuff that's the same. When you add AI upscaled textures into the mix, you end up with a gigantic file size, because the same exact floor texture is in there 8 times, cause it's used in 8 different maps.
By definition of a renaster it is, dir the original assets have been upscaled, exactly like tales of syphoniarenaster, wich only hasmd its assets upscaled to 4k for switch and ps4 snd xbox , so yes its a remastered
They still need to fix how large the game had blown up to be (57 Gigs for Xbox). It’s absolutely ridiculous that they blew up the file size to be so massive. Especially with the very limited storage options for Xbox.
The colllection is great, and no its not multi-player online focus, just likevthey werent back in day, aspyr was idiots fos trying to make it so when its not, this collection, likr back in 2005, the focus was and sti is offline solo and splitscreen, its great and well worth 30 bucks, and ill gladly pay another 60 bucks for a physical copy so i actually own the games unlike currently were im renting cause their digital only. Dice battlefront ganes were crap and a big middlr finger to thhe franchise
I bought the original Battlefront 2 game in Best Buy when it first came out. THEN I was disappointed with it. I found the networking to be just gawd awful (teleporting not only my position but my look direction?) but also the performance to this day, it terrible, I remember getting 40 FPS consistenly, CPU bound, so good luck with that. This remake was doomed from the beginning. I have no idea how fans looked back at the original games fondly except just because they were massive star wars fans with giant blinders on. If you want to play a GOOD old star wars game, I would recommend Republic Commando, or Jedi Knight 2 and Jedi Academy. In contrast those games are well-polished timeless classics. Remakes of those games are certainly welcome IMO.
The biggest disappointing moment was going from Republic Commando's Super Battle Droids to BF2s --- how they moved in RC was menacing, they looked heavy and deadly. In BF2 they moved like people in droid costumes, had no weight, and didn't come apart when shot, they also weren't balanced to be as menacing as they were portrayed in the films. The new BF2 actually did a way better service to these guys to be honest, though I'm definitely still not a huge fan of the game as a whole.
I know it's your opnion, but online was not the main point of these games but offline was. The fact aspyr marketed the game collection for its online feature was very mind boggling and very misleading. "I have no idea how fans looked back at the original games fondly except just because they were massive star wars fans with giant blinders on." because it was a great game for its time (Maybe not for you). But it's nothing amazing for nowadays especially when compared to modern shooter games. What made the game special was its galactic conquest mode. I only play the original bf2 nowdays just for modding. "how they moved in RC was menacing, they looked heavy and deadly. In BF2 they moved like people in droid costumes, had no weight, and didn't come apart when shot" because it was like that in the original battlefront 2004 game that came out 6 months before republic commando came out. Also, they did come apart when getting shot, idk what made you come up with that odd conclusion. If they did use RC elements for the supers, the balancing would be much worse. I will agree with you, EA's BF2 did better about the things you described, despite the awful lootbox and mtx controversy, and it's a real shame the game is no longer supported by the devs since its EA after all.
I can understand this review in some aspects but he mostly mentioned the multiplayer and sure I missed out on the multiplayer back in the day but for me the multiplayer wasn't even the selling point, it was because of trophy support and so I never have to turn on my Xbox ever again and I can just play everything I want on my PS5. But giving the collection a 3 out of 10 just because of the multiplayer portions mostly is a bit criminal in my opinion. Before anyone asks me "why did you just buy the collection just for trophies?" it's because I already have horrible internet and I was trying to avoid anything online but I still did give the multiplayer a go(battlefront 1) and I had fun oddly enough even with 180 ping but again that could've been because of my internet and not the game itself. Not defending the collection just saying a review for this being this low is somewhat criminal, I could see like a 5 or 6 maybe though.
@@sting_ray96 I understand that and I have also spent thousands of hours fighting bots but I don't mind because I can't do online and prefer games with an offline option anyway(which is becoming less and less of a thing these days).
First off it was never labelled as a remaster. All they said ia that the games wpuld be coming to current Gem. UA-camrs are the ones who called it a remaster AND said it'd be in 4K with 60FPS. 😂😂😂 another thing is that the only people complaining seem to be the "PC Master Race"
"It wasnt labelled as a remaster" They literally upscaled the entire game and now it has 60GB in file size. And why would PC players complain about the "lack" of aim assist, thats the opposite of what a PC player normally wants. Just shut up.
The original game is deliberately designed around the aim assist; if you're playing a character with projectiles it's almost impossible to hit anything and even harder to tell if you actually did due to a lack of feedback.
How do make a finished game, unfinished??? It's baffled me....
This series is CURSED! We fans really can't catch a break!
at lest dark forces is good.
i’m also going to wait for reviews on the ubisoft star wars game.
Play the old game on pc
Glad I treated the publishers with the same respect they showed us with this Remaster..... Piracy ☠️
You could have just bought the originals for like $5…
@LNR65 true, but they don't have controller support.
@@aFLYER1980it's not dedicated controller support but you can map the controls for a gamepad in the settings, just takes a minute
I always wanted to give the games a try since back in the day, almost pre ordered them, dodged a bullet.
Never preorder
@@drowningin I know, I simply thought it would be really hard for anyone to mess up a port of a ps2 game, and well modern devs are always ready to prove us wrong.
On Xbox and Steam, you can still buy the original versions
This should've been a easy layup but unsurprisingly they fumbled the bag. I was really lookin forward to playing these games on current gen too.
So sad. Loved these games.
You forgot to mention the ridiculous bloat in file size that makes zero sense
Games are more likely to be broken than playable these days
Also I cannot comprehend why the size of the collection is 60 Gb.

should have let nightdive do the job. Nightdive rarely dissapoint (if any).
This is NOT a remaster!!! Stop it already!

Dumb ass
“All content” pfff yeah where’s the ai heroes on conquest? That’s my biggest complaint

5:00 it's not go in the settings and turn it on

Always turn off auto aim anyways.

Wait... people play with aim assist on?

The fact that he plays in first person makes me not take anything he says seriously what so ever.
Disagree
