kraenk12 are you just guessing or did Chevy actually confirm this, and if they did, where? The Z51 package has never cost $20,000-$30,000 extra, and certainly wouldn’t be worth it for a spoiler, splitter, 5 hp and 5 lb-ft torque extra. The C7 display models were only a little over $5,000 more than base if I remember correctly, just pushing slightly more than $60,000 msrp.
nah its just called operating at a loss to stimulate shorterm growth and they will slowly increase the price for the 2021/2022 models. Standard business practice
@@rooboy69 doubt it. Given how all competitors use carbon tubs and Chevy NEVER uses, and still doesn't use it and sticks to aluminum sub-frame, this one is probably actually that cheap. Plus, there's a HECK load of plastics, no bespoke carbon dash. They'll of course increase the price next year, and their margins are slim right now, but they'll still be making enough in bulk. Given the loss they suffered on the Camaro, they can't afford to operate on loss on this.
@@rooboy69 it's just low margin mass production. Most of the cost isn't building single cars it's developing them and the assembly line to make thousands of them. When you only sell hundreds of cars like Ferrari you have to make up for those costs. When you are Chevy you know you can sell thousands and spread the one-time costs over more cars.

While I appreciate the fun-factor of a stick shift, it would be silly to offer it in an 800 hp, mid-engine super performance car. Compared to a dual-clutch, it doesn't come close to matching performance.
As must as I would love a manual, NA V8, RWD, supercar that I can get serviced at my local Chevy dealership, I think it may be a good thing that this car was engineered the way it was. Nothing kills a performance car more than compromise. GM didn't compromise on the chassis so it could accommodate a manual option. It's purpose built, which is probably going to make it that much better against much more expensive competition. Of course, I think they may have compromised the rear a bit, in order to have that extra boot space. You can tell the diffuser had to be smaller and the exhaust had to be routed where they did, to get that extra cargo capacity. I wonder if the Z06/ZR1 will ditch that boot and go crazy with the exhaust/aero...
Macht Schnell And it still will probably lose in track battles. Motor Trend lapped the Mustang GT350R around Laguna Seca faster than the new NSX. The weight from the battery slowed the car down in corners. The C8 probably has more storage than the NSX because it space in the front and rear. The NSX just doesn’t seem very compelling when compared to the C8 unless you really care about the hybrid system or the additional 0.2 seconds for its 0-60.
Exactly. This is the new NSX. It embodies more of the spirit of what the original NSX was than the one Honda currently sells. World class engineering, Ferrari-like looks and powertrain, and a price that makes it a bargain, relatively speaking. The only thing it’s missing is input from a racing driver like Senna.
Remember the NSX had titanium connecting rods VTEC when it was unheard of (vette uses a simpler pushrod v8 not knocking it), aluminum spaceframe when it was super pricey to do so (may have been the first production aluminum bodied car)
Marco Andrade They don’t need Senna. What they needed in that showroom was the two yellow Corvettes that were wiping the floor with everyone at Le Mans not long ago. They did extremely well.

There´s a rumor that the ZR1 version of this baby will have a smaller V8 but will be twin-turbo charged and go up to 800 PS,making it more powerful than the Ferrari Tributo or the McLaren 720S for half the money.

Except a Lambo is hand built with quality materials and already out performs this car. A vette is built no different than any other chevy, mass produced with the lowest cost materials.

The car looks like a copy of that acura coupe forgot the name. The gloss is nice but i feel its to narrow and tall. They should have made it wider and lower. The front looks wack. The back of the car looks clean. But that small nose in the front with ass popping up, makes no sense.

But I drove the c7 zo6 and it was nice to have that crazy supercharged V8 but the car overall felt and looked cheap inside. I would love to see what this new c8 feels like but I agree it looks gorgeous inside and out and so far the 0-62 is very impressive.
They knocked it out of the park. Really like what they did all around. I'm a year out from getting a new car. C8 was at the top of my list. Now I think it is the list.

I even said that in my comment that i could see the likes of Ferrari, Aston-Martin, Koenigsegg and others all coming out with them I think there could actually be an entry level supercar market in the very near future i could honestly see that happening myself.
@@_SDC I mean it could actually be good for the bigger names in that industry, would get them more money and more Lambos and Ferraris on the road and the birth of a whole new segment in the supercar market: The Entry-Level Supercar. Full-on supercars for under $100K. That could be a very profitable market segment and would make say owning a brand-new Ferrari a greater possibility. Yeah it wouldn't have the same performance numbers as say their higher end vehicles but still offer really a really good bang for the buck. I could see that being very profitable and introduce a whole new group of customers. Never say never cause you just don't know right now cause this is all-new territory we are stepping into. The C8 Corvette is the very first mid-engine car that doesn't start at $100K+ like one would think a mid-engine performance car would start at so we could see other supercar manufacturers getting into the mix in the future depending on how this mid-engine car goes.

@@Shmee150 GM is usually universal in design so if that's the base then the ZR1/Z06 will likely have the same base. TBH though I don't like how the center console looks. it should have all been streamlined.

Lets see what the bugs are before you get too excited. The C8 is a great value at 60k but what corners have been cut to get it at that price. Something to think about.
I had a conversation with someone who was a technician for Chevrolet while at the 2019 NY auto show and when talking about the C7 and C8 he did mention to me that Chevy is looking into a hybrid option of the C8 Corvette. Take it as a grain of salt cause I thought it was ridiculous but after some thought its possible considering some other info he said to me.

And it's available in right hand drive!!! Also it can remember 1,000 locations by GPS to automatically lift up on it's own... There might be one coming in my driveway and it's gotta be the Z51 option

I'm not a Vette gut, but this changes everything. Tech has finally reached the point that they can build a Supercar for the masses. They will sell so many of these that a good used specimen will be had for 40k in just a few years. By then, new buyers will opt for a new one with a 1000hp. I went to Chevy.com and configured one. White with black wheels, Red calipers and and a High Black Spoiler. Amazing.
Finally found a coment that notice what I have.Theres also a video of a bronze car base model without the spoiler..To me it looks much more define and finished I love it if this base model really does Zero to 60 under or at 3secs I'm buying one!
Some will complain about the old pushrod V8. Well guess what, they could have developed an all new twin turbo DOHC V8 but it would then cost nowhere near $60,000. Not to mention the new engine would be prone to problems as it is a totally new engine and it would use a configuration that GM is not familiar with. Plus the LS based engines have been around forever so they have tons of aftermarket parts available and GM knows very well how to upgrade it for the Z06 and ZR1. Lets also not forget that it sounds better than any other V8 out there.
@@ThaBootyBandit boxers are ugly and are called the poor man Porsche. Lotus 19/20 range from 75 to 100k older ones(2009 below) go for about 35 to 50k really the vette is the better deal if you want new. But the old mr2 is a classic with manual. But it also a widowmaker lol.

Even if you pay $65 fully loaded, it is a bargain compared, M4 $83k, C63s $88k. So to compare them you could get the Z06 version.

The car looks like a copy of that acura coupe forgot the name. The gloss is nice but i feel its to narrow and tall. They should have made it wider and lower. The front looks wack. The back of the car looks clean. But that small nose in the front with ass popping up, makes no sense.

But I drove the c7 zo6 and it was nice to have that crazy supercharged V8 but the car overall felt and looked cheap inside. I would love to see what this new c8 feels like but I agree it looks gorgeous inside and out and so far the 0-62 is very impressive.
Because Corvettes are cheap on the inside, it's all cheap plastic, looks like a rental.

I do believe that this will change the whole supercars game completely and there will be more affordable supercars in the future!
I even said that in my comment that i could see the likes of Ferrari, Aston-Martin, Koenigsegg and others all coming out with them I think there could actually be an entry level supercar market in the very near future i could honestly see that happening myself.
@@_SDC I mean it could actually be good for the bigger names in that industry, would get them more money and more Lambos and Ferraris on the road and the birth of a whole new segment in the supercar market: The Entry-Level Supercar. Full-on supercars for under $100K. That could be a very profitable market segment and would make say owning a brand-new Ferrari a greater possibility. Yeah it wouldn't have the same performance numbers as say their higher end vehicles but still offer really a really good bang for the buck. I could see that being very profitable and introduce a whole new group of customers. Never say never cause you just don't know right now cause this is all-new territory we are stepping into. The C8 Corvette is the very first mid-engine car that doesn't start at $100K+ like one would think a mid-engine performance car would start at so we could see other supercar manufacturers getting into the mix in the future depending on how this mid-engine car goes.

@@Shmee150 GM is usually universal in design so if that's the base then the ZR1/Z06 will likely have the same base. TBH though I don't like how the center console looks. it should have all been streamlined.

I had a conversation with someone who was a technician for Chevrolet while at the 2019 NY auto show and when talking about the C7 and C8 he did mention to me that Chevy is looking into a hybrid option of the C8 Corvette. Take it as a grain of salt cause I thought it was ridiculous but after some thought its possible considering some other info he said to me.

I'm not a Vette gut, but this changes everything. Tech has finally reached the point that they can build a Supercar for the masses. They will sell so many of these that a good used specimen will be had for 40k in just a few years. By then, new buyers will opt for a new one with a 1000hp. I went to Chevy.com and configured one. White with black wheels, Red calipers and and a High Black Spoiler. Amazing.

Imagine if they made a zr1 c8 or at least a z06 or something
Some will complain about the old pushrod V8. Well guess what, they could have developed an all new twin turbo DOHC V8 but it would then cost nowhere near $60,000. Not to mention the new engine would be prone to problems as it is a totally new engine and it would use a configuration that GM is not familiar with. Plus the LS based engines have been around forever so they have tons of aftermarket parts available and GM knows very well how to upgrade it for the Z06 and ZR1. Lets also not forget that it sounds better than any other V8 out there.
