R14 is basically a must win for the entire top 4. And the best part is, they all play each other
not for gukesh
@@hitengupta9581 It is practically because one of Nepo and Fabi is surely gonna win as they won't settle for a draw and will press
@@yashsingla3043thats only when a draw occurs a perfect game from both sides
@@yashsingla3043 if he draws he still gets to play tie-breaks
@@Chorhumein And Gukesh isn't looking good in tiebreaks against either of them
Nice interview, and great attitude by Hikaru 😊
At the same time, he really really wants to win. He wants to win as much as any other candidate. But in these interviews, he protests that he cares that much. I love Hikaru but he comes across as disingenuous when he talks about how a tournament matters to everyone else but him.
@@wfsm1thIm 90% certain that he says that all the time to take the pressure of himself. Has worked great so far
@@wfsm1th He wants to take the pressure off of himself. thats how he got here in the first place, if the tournament mattered to him he wouldnt be doing as great
I use to watch such interviews at 1.25 but in this case of Hikaru I had to go for a 0.75...
I watched it at 2x
@@himanshu-2510 wow ure so cool bro, do u think anyone cares about ur opinion ever?
@@Heisenberg20023 damn ur salty

GM Hikaru's attitude is insanely relaxed. A relaxed chess player can be the most dangerous.
He just doesn't care
Gukesh is more calm though
fr
This is just a side hustle to him. He's just in this for the content!
@@w1nterf0x_19 his content is related to chess, he not dancing on his content lol
The main reason I'm hoping Hikaru will become champion is that I'm dying to see Kramnik's reaction
Just for a reaction, an unworthy should not get title.
@@AshwiniViolet7 unworthy?😂 Hikaru is the most worthy for the title rn😘
@@SailorOfTheNorthSealosing twice to Vidit who is the third best Indian player out there is a sin. Who knows it might even cost winning candidates.
@@vinothv56getting a lose in candidates and classical championship is a sin to any of them anyway
@@vinothv56 stupid comment, you are trying to take away Vidit and Hikarus achievments... Pathetic
2:16 Naka worried what daddy would be thinking.
Daddy busy dating girls
Since when is he Magnus's bitch?
Hikaru counting on reza haha
Gukesh is certainly the favourite now but not by much. Hope Gukesh can keep the nerves. Everyone is under the pump tomorrow and a tie-braker is somewhat likely
Really good interview, good questions and then let Hikaru talk. Well done
LET'S GO HIKARU!
R E N T F R E E
😂😂😂
Losing to Vidit twice might cost Hikaru. Even a draw would have helped him now
but that's what chess is u can say same for every top 4 players right now
Okk then Gukesh was winning against aliraza 😁
I love Hikarus interviews. He is a very special streamer, I understand but the way he talks is so much more enjoyable when there is someone else questioning him, rather than him speaking to chat. Love his atitude and wish him the best.
If gukesh loses.. My indian heart breakes.. But he tries his best till now.. Sometimes he does mistakes but it's ok because he is very young
If Anand makes a mistake, will he be tarred and feathered?
@@davidwilson6577 Is Anand playing the candidates? What's the context?
@@sujoybhowmick5733 Anand is not young. I'm questioning the op's reasons for 'forgiving' (or something) Gukesh's errors because of his age. Every player makes mistakes at some point, and Gukesh getting a little older won't fix that.
@@davidwilson6577 It will fix. There is a thing called experience. Young players with age and experience tends to get better. And when a player passes his prime age for any sports, even with experience that player can't be as good as he used to be. Not just in chess but in every sports. You asked an invalid question.
No he didn't. Op made a stupid argument.
I feel like they both tried to avoid the phrase "don't care" with the last question and answer
Gukesh simply must be the favourite.
If he wins today he wins straight up. If he draws today he wins straight up or has a play off at worst.
Hikaru must win to either win straight up or get a playoff.
Ian and Fabi must win and that only gives them a playoff regardless of what happens in the other match.
So odds have to be with Gukesh.
For sure it will be the most exciting evening of chess I will have ever watched tonight. Fireworks are simply unavoidable with these circumstances.
The question is...will Gukesh even try for a win? Will his mind change mid game when he sees the progress in the other game? He may know a draw wins at some point..or may know a draw only gets a play off so it could change his decisions. It is more "simple" for Ian, Fabi and Hikaru as they must win.
I think the Gukesh - Hikaru game is going to be one that is analysed for generations...let's see😁
No one likes to lose, and Hikaru’s youtube subscribers don’t for sure. So it’s not about winning the lottery, more like keeping ratings up.
this guy is a boss.
Hikaru is relaxed, because chess is just a side gig for him, he is not a professional chess player and he just doesnt care, because he works for Twitch.
breatheless interview by hikaru
hikaru is dad
What??
Imagine if Hikaru loses out on two consecutive candidates because he held back based on an external factor?
I hope Hikaru transitions to poker after chess. Good luck tomorrow!
a gukesh win and its over... a Gukesh draw leaves the door open for Ian and Fabi and it eliminates Hikaru
Gukesh loses dude these indians are all the same
@@geert574 why so jealous he is above all the contendor in round 12.
If you look up the word ambassador in the dictionary you will see a portait of Hikaru
What a wonderful ambassador for the game of chess!
he is not lmao
Why does Hikaru always need to bring Magnus in all of his interviews. I believe he thinks that he is not upto the mark of Magnus everytime.
He always says that magnus is one step ahead of all other living players.
@@BCKBCK let nodribek abdusattarov , strike
Its a fact
@@spreadtrader19297 very sad that he didn't make candidates this year, I think he has the highest ceiling of all the young players at the moment
No one is
magnus somewhere laughing 🤣
Gukesh Wins
Damn, he's just 17.
@@rnbPGTV IAN will win , tommorow , closing at 9 , and gukesh will draw , and in tiebreaker IAN wins
@@spreadtrader19297 let's see, but honestly speaking, not just because of the fact that I'm an Indian as well, Hikaru has a history of choking in the end, as it's a must win for him as well, Gukesh might win and will directly become a challenger.
But again anything can happen.
Gukesh is winning, that's only my personal prediction.
@@spreadtrader19297I think ian has the lowest chance of winning. His going up against fabi with the black pieces, and if ian wins he will either face against gukesh or hikaru. Gukesh could also just win the entire tournament if he beats hikaru
He'd deserve it
I really think that if Gukesh wins the Tournament, Ding Lireng will win again the world championship. Its true he is not in good shape, but, ceartanly, at least in this moment, Ding Liren is more then Gukesh.
If Hikaru wins, Hikaru will win against Ding
Gukesh has beat ding about 1 or 2 month ago
Does it mean if Gukesh wins the tournament, is it only about luck and not any potential?. It's ridiculous. His analysis and strategic approach is so good in classical chess. I hope the tournament doesn't go for a tie break, then Gukesh might be the underdog!
dude there is a lot of prep time before the championship. at least 6 months. they go into aggressive training. its so boring with these old players at the top.
@@suchendrakumar483 I never said is luck Gukesh won the candidates, in case this happen. I only said, Ding Liren is better than Gukesh. And actually the score is 2 - 0 favor to Ding. And both games he won with black pieces. So, Gukesh performance is amazing, but just recently, Ding Liren has some time demonstrating he es extraordinary good. Thats why I think Ding would win.
They both chickened out
Be a shark!
He is not interested on winning Candidates? Tell me another joke
I am not blasé about learning the word blasé. @4:00
Alireza has had a dreadful Candidates. Has anyone lost as many games in a Candidates?
great interviewer
world cut 2023 cricket wala na repeat krna gukesh bhai 😢
Why does he have no pressure on him?
He is pretty much saying he is already earning as a streamer as much money as anyone who will win the candidates and maybe even world championship. So, he doesn't have that much pressure on him.
Imagine hikaru winning and beating ding to become the world champion with chess being only his hobby and his main job is content creating xD That would be the ultimate meme
his content is chess tho
@@vincenzofranchelli2201 yeah but it doesnt change the fact that his job is not professional chess player like the others which means he doesnt train like the others, he doesnt have a whole team to prep with like the others. Anyway lets hope hikaru wins it :))
I get what Hikaru is saying, but I wonder if it’s the attitude of a champion. Maybe he’ll win the Candidates, but I’d be a little surprised if he does, and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he places 2nd. He talks more like a runner up than a 1st placer.
He has learned the hard way not to take unnecessary risks, and here he is, one game away from playing the world championship. He will definitely take the risk tomorrow. And even if he beats Yan, he would only be tied for first, and still could loose. But if he lost to Yan, he would need a miracle: Fabi beating Yan, and he beating Gukesh, and even then he is only tied for first with Fabi, Yan and Gukesh
Influencers? haha.
He is not truthful... 25min was more than enough to play on...
Ian was the most solid so it's okay to admit that and you are fine with it.
It's 15 moves in 25 minutes, so no it's not enough to gamble your entire candidates tournament on.
Ah yes of course you have this experience where you have ~1:45 minutes per move and have to compete in the highest rated tournaments in chess.
What’s your title again?
Mahn we need some skilled intereviewer now ! Remove mike
This guy is one of the more interesting interviewers imo
Gukesh will lose and Hikaru will win round 14.
