Excellent video, and thank you for the information about how to install this motor drive. I just received my F-2 & MD-3 motor drive today, and now I know how to connect and use my new F-2 with the motor drive. I'm looking forward to using my F-2 with the motor drive!😎

Like this video, but do you have a video (perhaps part 2) that shows this model in operation. I just acquired the exact same model, but can't get it to work. All seems to be in order, batteries are all fresh. Thanks

Great video, but damn that motor drive is big! I use the olympus om-4 and have the motor drive 2 wich is almost half the size!

Ah yes I've owned the om2 and Om4 and they managed to make much smaller motor drives. I think the F3 drive was aimed at press and pro photographers so was big because it takes loads of batteries and lasts a long time even with heavy use.

Note that when MD3's counter reaches 0, it stops firing. It acts as an "off" switch for the motordrive. To continue, you must re-position the counter, by hand, to some value above 0.

that's exactly right. I had dug out my F2's last night, which I hadn't used in years. I have an MD-3 with an MB-1 battery pack for them. I had loaded new Duracells in the MB-1 but it simply wouldn't fire, no matter what I tried. I finally came to the realization that the counter counts down, so if it isn't set to a higher number than zero, it won't fire at all. Also, the battery check may not indicate any power at all on the battery pack till you fire a frame with the motor drive. It had been much too long since I had it out of the bag. Happy shooting. : )

Mine sounded like a coffee grinder on my F3hp. But it was bigger than this one.

Love the Nikon F2S. The MD-3 is nice, but I prefer MD-2 :)

May I ask why ? Thank you.

@@WOSHIYEBO MD-2 has mototrized rewind, and combined with MF-3 back it stops the film rewinding process in time to leave the film leader sticking out of the cassette, it has faster fps, and can be used in continuous mode at shutter speeds from 1/4th of a second and higher (MD-3 only from X = 1/80).

Nice if rather sketchy introduction of the MD-3 for collectors. For potential users the warning is lacking here that all found MD-3's today should be considered non-working, due to age-related problems. Poor or sticky contacts preventing a proper cycle could be remied, but a (common) split nylon gear is not. Can be fixed, but for a hefty price. From a user point, the MD-3 is more practical than the MD-1/ MD-2 unless you are still using film as a sports journalist under time constraint. Lovely and fascinating stuff from an era now definitely behind us.
