I think there’s room in the ARPG space for multiple games. D4 is a simple game that they’ve slowly added complexity to. POE is inherently complex and now they’re trying to streamline it. Both can be fun, and both will appeal to different audiences with a Venn diagram of overlap for genre enthusiasts.

Cool? If POE is so good why tf has the game been averaging less than 10k players the past year? The only reason theres been 20k lately is because of Poe2 reveal and even then Diablo 4 is most likely pushing 100k on average. So tell me again if POE is so good why does more players play Diablo.
@FrostBeam009 bc Diablo is easier and doesn't require braincells to play. It's like saying Fornite is better than Elden Ring bc more people play it. In terms of quality it's not even close.
I'm incredibly excited to play Poe2 , this is everything I wanted and more. The art/art style , graphics, spell effects, ost , monster/boss design, changes to the systems, skill gems out of gear, in game wiki, better explanations and more , it looks amazing The bosses in poe2 are so well done, souls like with good hitboxes, mechanics. I love that you can dodge and the bosses in maps don't just melt I bought the EA pack for Poe1 in 2012 after 4500h , here we go again a in Poe2
As someone new to PoE (played D2, D3 and D4) I'm excited for PoE2 as it does seem to be more new player friendly. The massive talent tree is of course scary but something I'm willing to deal with and learn as long as everything else isn't very crazy too. A lot of it seems easier to swap or change things so testing builds and not feeling screwed over for the rest of the game as I've heard if you did something wrong. I'm more willing to try PoE2 than PoE with how friendly it sounds to newer players, something I'm more excited to check out
The talent tree in poe1 seemed daunting too, until you realized most of the nodes are simple buffs on dmg, ability points or specific skill categories (like a cluster of nodes dedicated to lightning dmg, or fire dmg for instance). Once you start using the search function, you start to see how it makes sense, and it becomes way easier.
@@sipjedekat8525 Sure but I don't like how punishing it sound if you do something wrong because I like testing all kind of builds and being locked in and screwed because of it is a shitty feeling. Knowing PoE2 is way more forgiving by the sound of it makes me more excited to play because I like making many builds or testing things
@Wolfyowns respeccing was never a problem in poe1, but I agree it's even easier in poe2. Just like you, I really like to experiment with innovative builds. As long as you have fun right?
The whole design of Diablo 4 is just fundamentally flawed. Items making builds 100% of the time just feels so bad. Aspects should have just been on the skill tree. Ancestrals should have never been a thing. Magic and rares being useless is a crime. The game just needs a whole rework at this point. With POE2 coming out, I’m fine with them taking Diablo 4 offline for a year or two to completely rework it and turn it into an ARPG that actually works
@@MMoer are you serious? everyone complained about that LMAO. diablo 3 is wildly unpopular in the ARPG scene. you have NO IDEA what you are talking about
PoE 1 is okay, but it's way too complex for me I never even reached what people consider end-game. PoE2 looks much more manageable and I might actually try it.
I don't care about complexity but the way they approach that complexity in poe 1 is a turn off for me. This looks complex but also like it does a better job at explaining things
Yeah, this is a major point of contention with PoE1 and rightfully so. PoE2 refines / retunes almost everything from PoE1 and adds a metric shit-ton of new QoL features we've been asking for years in PoE1 ..
PoE1 is insanely complex, but if you somehow power through it you can turn on the blinders to mechanics you don't like or the complexity of itemization. PoE2's director has said they wanted to keep the depth but simply the process and it if you understand POE1 it looks like they succeeded but in my opinion it would still look daunting if you didn't understand PoE1 which I think was the problem with Johnathan's delivery. He understood what made POE1 inaccessible too well and isn't a salesman, so instead of simply saying "This shit is gonna be so much easier" he went on about how Crafting currencies are dropping more frequently and earlier and some no longer shuffle all the stats but just add a specific targeted stat.
@dvdgnz1 no they won't. If you showed me these games without knowing anything about it and asked me which one was made by blizzard, i would have said blizzard made poe 2. That is the expectations we have for blizzard standard. what they gave us with d4 is a joke, the game wasn't even close to finish.
@@FierroSev see you in a couple of years then. I am not saying D4 looks as good as PoE2 but D4 will be fine. It will keep doing well, selling, and having large player counts every season.
Man so hyped for this, this is so deep and thought out. Also gonna play witch as my first class. The way they made her is the minion class I always wanted.
After PoE2 launches, I think Diablo is done forever. D4 has nothing left to offer that PoE doesn't do better. I hate to say it, but Blizzard needs to hang it up, it's over.
Tough question about Shadow of the Erdtree. Normally I’d lean towards it should be a separate category, and maybe still do, but most DLC’s are not even half of what SotE was. I’ll let people smarter than me decide!
man, I can't wait to try the monk out with a controller, from all that's shown, it literally looks like a top down beat em up like streets of rage, or a twin stick shooter if you play the merc and ranger, december 6 can't come soon enough here's hoping they implement some kind of item filter, would love them to just copy what last epoch did
PoE was a mess to get into, but once you did, it was a f**king blast. Spent 1.3k hrs in this game. I LOVE all the changes and new classes so far. Hail to the king!
Calling it now…once path of exile 2 is released (even in its limited state) Diablo 4 is going to turn into a ghost town. Path of exile is a better run company with better content with a comparably experienced staff that runs it that seems to care about the players in the community. The problem with path of exile is it’s too damn complicated. It’s almost like they need two versions one for the diehard people that know what to do and where to go when to do it and then the guys & gals that just want to go in and kill some monsters and have a good time. When I feel the urge to play the Diablo series I go back to Diablo 2 or Diablo 3 if I’m really reminiscing. PoE2 will be the new gospel in ARPG.
Same i keep thinking there gonna get it right, then i feel souless like im wasting my time playing, games allways unbalanced and broken with no true endgame
Playing Throne and Liberty makes me realize how dissapointing D4 is. Why even have an open world if you are just going to do nothing with it? That said, I have had a lot of fun with D4 - but they missed out on so much potential and that's what dissapoints.
@@zhodraa Yes all that applies but I mean there is something fundamentally bad about the game that I don't think could even be fixed. I'm not sure what it even is tbh. Rhykker: ... Is a DLC running for game of the year. Me: oh, sure...
Actually the ONLY proper ARPG out there. POE 1 and now 2 is the PERFECT game that respects time, effort and money you put into it. You are never locked out of content like we see now in D4 VOH where even paying 100 dollars for the original game gets you nowhere. You have to pay more to play content in VOH and even do any real progression in the seasonal content. So basically - 100 dollars down the drain in a "live service" game. Compare this to POE2 that will even give me all useable stash tabs I already bought in POE1. Just moved over like that. 100% full respect to money spent on POE. And as a side note.... I already got 3 times the amount of stash tabs in POE2 that way than what D4 is offering in TOTAL. Ye... Imagine that.
@@MMoer The game is not ready m8. Just wait and you can play it free when its out of early access. With that said... I don't think I would even play D4 in it's current state if VOH was free. But you can bet I will NEVER buy that expansion pack with the content it has to offer.
I don't have skin in the game but some DLCs have more content and more gameplay than entire games and kind of think fair enough they can stand for themselves. I have no issue with a really kick ass DLC getting GOTY. That said, I do agree it should be its own category in any case that just makes sense.
Quick Correction on Charms: Charms have there own charges independent of the health/mana charges. So a anti-freeze charm will trigger when you are frozen, consume it's charges, then it will go on cooldown until the charges are replenished. Charges are replenished the same old way of killing monsters.
I like that it will be lot more forgiving on testing a build. PoE1 as great as it is, basically needs a guide or you are screwed. Respecting for Gold is godsend.
I thought the Armory was going to have its own separate inventory space. I mean, it's an armoire that you put your items into. Why the hell would they teleport to the chest that's on the ground beside the armoire?
I am glad POE2 has a variety of systems for endgame so people can do content they enjoy...but I do hope that they have done something about leveling....having to ONLY level through the campaign every league on every character in POE (and don't even get me started about the alts...which I always had tons since respec'ing was so expensive) has always been PAINFUL. I think that is something that D4 doesn't get enough credit for...do the campaign once and they have different ways to level up afterwards.
I'm kind of bummed about skill gems in PoE 2. One of my favorite things about PoE is the amount of time that I spend weighing pros and cons of two different items, and gem slots were a big part of that debate.
You lost that choice but now you can freely regear without pain, and you get a new important choice which is 'you can only use a support gem once; so do you give Greater Multiple Projectiles to your grenades or to your sniper attack? Maybe your sniper attack is good enough with Chaining instead. Also they made way way more support gems.
I wasn't hyped for PoE2, until I read it'd be free. Now I'm sad for not being a cash cow that can invest in VoH and GGG early access at the same time, oh well. I also hope some competition shake up things for better at blizz HQ
I do feel DLC titles should have their own category, for sure, but that's not the biggest problem I see. I would also say that re-releases/remasters (such as Final Fantasy VII) shouldn't be there either. A separate category for remasters would be better. Why give a title from almost 30 years ago a place in a category full of new releases? Can you imagine the Best Racing Game category featuring a hypothetical remastered version of Need For Speed Underground or Sega Rally Championship? A Best Sports Game featuring a hypothetical remastered version of NHL 04? Let's delve deep into the time vault and remaster Kingdom of Kroz for a Best Adventure Game category.
I'm a hardcore FromSoftware fan, but Shadow of the Erdtree shouldn't have been nominated imo. I loved it, but it's still Elden Ring. It doesn't make sense to nominate a game that has already won GotY. A DLC category wouldn't work either I think. Not enough games gets DLCs in this classic style anymore, so it would be hard to find 5 worthy. I just think DLCs shouldn't be nominated.

GGG seems like an awesome workplace, and NZ is ranked #1 for work-life balance. Nobody even loses their shit when they mention staff holidays causing some slight delays.
These guys have found the secret sauce you should interview more staff if you ever visit them again Rhykker. We might be able to fix the industry..
Right after watching Poe2 endgame trailer, I uninstalled D4. Never playing D4 ever again.
it took you to watch another games trailer not how poor d4 really is once the rose glasses are taken off
Oh no.. bye bye bye!🎉
Cool? If POE is so good why tf has the game been averaging less than 10k players the past year?
The only reason theres been 20k lately is because of Poe2 reveal and even then Diablo 4 is most likely pushing 100k on average.
So tell me again if POE is so good why does more players play Diablo.
Bec poe is not casual friendly diablo is thats why @@FrostBeam009
@FrostBeam009 bc Diablo is easier and doesn't require braincells to play. It's like saying Fornite is better than Elden Ring bc more people play it. In terms of quality it's not even close.
I'm incredibly excited to play Poe2 , this is everything I wanted and more.
The art/art style , graphics, spell effects, ost , monster/boss design, changes to the systems, skill gems out of gear, in game wiki, better explanations and more , it looks amazing
The bosses in poe2 are so well done, souls like with good hitboxes, mechanics. I love that you can dodge and the bosses in maps don't just melt
I bought the EA pack for Poe1 in 2012 after 4500h , here we go again a in Poe2
As long as you have fun right?
atleast d4 ptr live stream had 4k people watching compared to poe2 157k lol
Customization is what makes me feel tingly as well, they know what they're doing with PoE2, I honestly can't wait
Diablo 3 was no different. Didn't hear that complain back then so shut the whining
PoE2 will be free once it is fully released so no reason not to :D
I don't care about complexity but the way they approach that complexity in poe 1 is a turn off for me. This looks complex but also like it does a better job at explaining things
Yeah, this is a major point of contention with PoE1 and rightfully so. PoE2 refines / retunes almost everything from PoE1 and adds a metric shit-ton of new QoL features we've been asking for years in PoE1 ..
I recommend Titan Quest 2. PoE was indeed too cluttered for me also.
I'm glad season 5 was my last and final season with D4... Looking forward to POE 2 in the summer.
Hahaha! Merci pour ton intro, j'ai ris bien trop fort! 😆😆
I didn't want to say anything during the D4 Season 7 update... but I think D4 is about to get its lunch ate!
d4 - bread crumbs, poe2 - all you can eat
D4 already ate its lunch. PoE 2 will eat its own lunch. Both games will be fine in their own corners.
@@dvdgnz1 D4 bad
@@FierroSev see you in a couple of years then. I am not saying D4 looks as good as PoE2 but D4 will be fine. It will keep doing well, selling, and having large player counts every season.
Man so hyped for this, this is so deep and thought out. Also gonna play witch as my first class. The way they made her is the minion class I always wanted.
13:11 Accidentally clicked “chaos incubation” and no energy shield and no regret orb and no refund point. 😏 Best scenario ever.
*The BEST Arpg Reveal Ever, raises question what Blizzard did with all those Billions of Dollars" There fixed it for you.
That intro was brutal, I almost feel sorry for the D4 devs that are gonna have to compete with PoE2.
After PoE2 launches, I think Diablo is done forever. D4 has nothing left to offer that PoE doesn't do better. I hate to say it, but Blizzard needs to hang it up, it's over.
I'm so excited after Rhykkers video on Poe 2. I just hope I get to play on Dec 6 and not have constant server issues and downtime maintenances
Video ends at 26:53.
I am going to try PoE2, it seems to be a better game than the first
Tough question about Shadow of the Erdtree. Normally I’d lean towards it should be a separate category, and maybe still do, but most DLC’s are not even half of what SotE was. I’ll let people smarter than me decide!
That elix bug in d4 was most definitely the most excitement of s6 , sad.
D4.... It's joever
Lmao you got me at the intro, I was like wtf really?
That opening line mate - you got me hahahahaha
man, I can't wait to try the monk out with a controller, from all that's shown, it literally looks like a top down beat em up like streets of rage, or a twin stick shooter if you play the merc and ranger, december 6 can't come soon enough
here's hoping they implement some kind of item filter, would love them to just copy what last epoch did
Game Awards: Best ongoing game D4? These awards are rigged like Tyson's fight.
The reveal of POE2 only makes me realize how disapointing Diablo 4 has been since launch and ive only been in denial for the past year. :(
Yea man, to me there is something fundamentally bad about D4 that I can never put my finger on
@@briankern9687 how about that feeling of being played for your time and money without much fun and reward in return?
Same i keep thinking there gonna get it right, then i feel souless like im wasting my time playing, games allways unbalanced and broken with no true endgame
Playing Throne and Liberty makes me realize how dissapointing D4 is. Why even have an open world if you are just going to do nothing with it? That said, I have had a lot of fun with D4 - but they missed out on so much potential and that's what dissapoints.
@@zhodraa Yes all that applies but I mean there is something fundamentally bad about the game that I don't think could even be fixed. I'm not sure what it even is tbh. Every time I play no matter what season I just don't have fun. And I love arpgs. I have 1500+ hours in PoE, about the same in Grim Dawn as well as D2 back in the day
I bought the $60 supporter pack, can’t wait 🎉
Rhykker: Games Award drama...
Me: probably that there is a lot of repetition of titles on the categories, making the award being handled to a select few of the games that already have a lot of comercial success, showing that the award ia more a popularity contest than a plataform for the industry to highlight what they want the year to be remembered about.
Rhykker: ... Is a DLC running for game of the year.
Me: oh, sure...
They did confirm in the Q&A that the PoE2 skill tree is even bigger than PoE one, which is both daunting and awesome.
PoE2 has been handled so well already. Bravo to GGG.
Looking forward to December 6th!
97.3% of the sponsored products on this channel are 😒, but this one actually caught my eye, and I found interesting. Thanks for the hook up!
Displates are awesome
Unless you pay money right now you are completely locked out of the whole game untill next year
@@MMoer The game is not ready m8. Just wait and you can play it free when its out of early access.
With that said... I don't think I would even play D4 in it's current state if VOH was free. But you can bet I will NEVER buy that expansion pack with the content it has to offer.
D4 gonna have same amount of content in like 15-20 years?
d4 is gonna be like d3 when profit is lower they will abandon the game and go make another 100 dollar bait title
No. It still wont.
I don't have skin in the game but some DLCs have more content and more gameplay than entire games and kind of think fair enough they can stand for themselves. I have no issue with a really kick ass DLC getting GOTY. That said, I do agree it should be its own category in any case that just makes sense.
Quick Correction on Charms:
Charms have there own charges independent of the health/mana charges.
So a anti-freeze charm will trigger when you are frozen, consume it's charges, then it will go on cooldown until the charges are replenished.
Charges are replenished the same old way of killing monsters.
I am literally vibrating with excitement for POE2
I like that long shadows(at sunset). good they added action at sunset, LastEpoch have it and was really nice feeling.
I cannot wait to start blasting PoE 2
R.I.P DIABLO 4
It's easy to bypass the silliness of The Game Awards... Just make a Best DLC of the Year award.
I can't wait to play a gemling legionnarie mercenary.
More gems and they are not attribute restricted. Lord have mercy on my build.
that was the best intro...lololol
I am sold on POE2, lets gooooooooo! It looks to have more layers of fun per character, cant wait.
The skill gem system being changed is amazing news! This was why I didn´t really get into POE 1. I can´t wait to get my hands on this game.
34:20 Dlc or expansion should never win game of the year because they are not games in the first place. But there can be category for dlc/expanions
It's Rod of KepeleKe 😳
Blizzard legit has to be scared as hell from the expected D4 player base drop when POE2 is released. D4 really has to get its s**t together…
Banger intro
Meanwhile at blizzard: ok guys, now this new season we will finally fix stash problems, you'll see
Nice the monolith system from LE is perfectly implemented
I wasn't hyped for PoE2, until I read it'd be free. Now I'm sad for not being a cash cow that can invest in VoH and GGG early access at the same time, oh well. I also hope some competition shake up things for better at blizz HQ
You had me raging for 5 seconds.
0:54 frazetta? excellent taste, dude.
That sorcerers looks bad ass I wanna play that
I do feel DLC titles should have their own category, for sure, but that's not the biggest problem I see.
When i saw the end game of PoE 2 i was like...
Please god let this be the last end game content... Only to go on and on and on......
POE 2: 💪💪💪
(Meanwhile...)
Diablo 4: (*PLBPLBPLBPLBPLBPLBPLBPLBPLBPLB!)
good bye d4
D4 coming to a end, ggwp GGG!
I have a feeling GGG is going to drop one of the best games of all times here, at least for ARPG-heads. 😍
Looking forward to PoE 2, first one was too much when I decided to try it. So starting fresh from the start should be good.
Oh no, Diablo 4 has turned into Diablo 3 for me
i just want to play the Mercenary. played the hell out of ranger in PoE 1. Mercenary seems like the next logical step.
I like Drew this dude jumping woth a red robe and a blue hat
yeah ok.. i will buy into the beta then.. it does sound amazing
My only problem with the over the top visuals and spam of POEs gameplay... Hopefully its better in POE2 so you can actually see whats going on.
