G'day Nik, I always feel like Austria is a distant cousin of Australia. Plus I loved visiting Austria and have been there twice now. Thanks for the feedback, I always appreciate it.
I hope you like them ... it was my first time putting together film from so many different people and camera sources so its not as neat as I would have liked :D
Great to see you back Gav, so good to hear that life has been kind to you. Looking forward to the Anne Beadell completion and whatever else you sling our way. Take care and stay safe, all the best to you and yours, cheers.
Thanks mate, i'm very lucky to do what I do for a living and to be able to share the places I go with you guys. I hope you are well and COVID isnt impacting your world to much.
It's really great to have you back Gavin. Really missed following your solo trips and the high quality of your video's. Looking forward to those episodes again. I think long distance shooting would really interest me so yep looking forward to that too if you decide to include it.
Welcome home Gavin, what a wonderful surprise to stumble across a recently-released video. Have had a super-quick look at what you have available. I think with the Anne Beadell I'll go back and start at the beginning (again?. not sure if I actually saw them before?. ) It is so good to finally have you back here. Yes a long time, but as always with great stuff, (and great people) well worth the waiting. :)
Hey Gavin, So glad your back at it as I’ve missed your travels. You are a great presenter and genuine bloke loving what you do. Cannot wait for more of your uploades Watching with great interest. Love your thoughts regarding your interest in target shooting. Love your presenting skills so I know it will be interesting Your Chanel!! So go for it.
G'day from WA....Welcome back Gavin...Queensland's gain! Looking forward to seeing the rest of the Anne Beadell Highway Series as we are looking at a possible trip in the near future
Hi Ashley, thanks mate. You are going to love the Anne Beadell, she's a beautiful track with some really nice side tracks. When I went she was in very good shape too (Not sure why Ronny and the crew thought the corrugations were bad. Might be a 200s thing :D ) so I hope its the same for you when you travel the track.
@@GavinGillett thanks mate. I’m hoping it will be mid next year if we aren’t heading up to see our son who lives in Broome.....win win for us..Broome trip or Anne Beadell!
With everyone else here, welcome back, great to see your content again. Congrats on the job, sounds like you've had a wonderful experience. Regarding the shooting idea, first off, I was glad to see you wearing hearing protection, as a kid on the farm, I didn't, I wish I had, I've had left ear hearing damage for the last 40 odd years because of my ignorance. Target shooting is great, don't start another channel, just put a warning on your description, if people get offended by you shooting a "tin can" you can't do much else. Yes, your CSR was the best solo series out there, might go and watch them all again after saying that.
Thanks mate, i'm glad you like the CSR series and I really appreciate the feedback about the shooting content. Content will still be a little slow, perhaps even a little more simple but i'm looking forward to getting out more often. I need to do another trip somewhere inland before it gets to hot :D
Hahah awesome :D I hope you like the new stuff ... it might not be as polished as ive done before. Its taken me 2 years to edit these and there is something to be said for continuity of editing hahah
Hey Gav I was only talking to my mates the other night discussing camper trailer stuff and mentioned to them about you , not that I know any info about what you have been involved in over the past couple but essentially next level type of stuff! So I jumped on your channel to show them you and today just realised your back! Awesome, great to see you again looking forward to seeing your adventures and informative travels once more Happy days from the west Trav
hey mate me and the missus wondered where you have been great to hear about your new venture we are looking forward to what ever you puy out next love your vids good luck with your job and cheers for your vids
Thanks, i'm still around but most of the videos i make are now commercial for Rio but still as a hobby. I got a promotion at work and now do innovation strategy.
Best news of 2020 Gavin. I've watched all your previous trips series twice over, the Kimberleys thrice. Very happy to hear your back mate, love your presentation style, down to earth and from the heart, cheers.
Thanks mate, I really appreciate it. It felt so good to hit the tracks again. I love what I have been doing for 2 years but the outback is in my blood :D
Great to see you back Gavin, I feel like you were one of the originals putting out 4WD content and your down to earth attitude is awesome, can’t wait to see more from you, personally not interested in shooting, more interested in your travels which inspire me to get out and see this awesome country
Thanks mate ... it was a shame to stop adding content when I did, the channel was growing fast and I was really enjoying the interaction with the 4wd community all over Australia. Looking forward to getting back on the horse though. Hey thanks for the feedback on the shooting content. Its really helpful and i'm very likley to make a second channel for that after getting some great advice from people like yourself.
Cheers Will, I know right. Where did the time go! I hope you are well and your world isnt to heavily impacted by COVID and all the other drama in our business.
Hey mate, glad to see your back. Thoroughly enjoy the content and look forward to the trips to come. Personally, I wouldn't watch the shooting content, having it on a different channel would definitely provide that clear niche to those interested, saying that, I'll still be sticking around for the trips and 4WD content. Good luck with whichever way you choose to go.
Thanks mate, really appreciate the feedback on the shooting content. It helps a lot. Looking forward to seeing what you think on the 3 new episodes and the 360 degree video.
Cheers mate, I was surprised at the complexity of practical precision shooting, it's why it appeals to me. I'm looking forward to sharing that journey with you
So good to see you back on the tube mate! Definitely one of the main guys that inspired me to me start up Shoey's Adventures. I'd like to see shooting either here or on another channel. Cheers can't wait to see the new stuff.
G'day Shoey, i'm stoked I played a small role inspiring you to make your own channel. Thats fantastic and if i'm not already subscribed (I love 4wd videos) then i;m going to subscribe right now to your channel :D
Thanks mate .. this first one is pretty simple and a test but if you like it there will be more and from a wide variety of perspectives. Including a drone :D
Thanks mate, it's to soon to put my finger on why they feel so good but i'm very optomistic that i've finally got it right for the weight and balance of my cruiser. The BP51s were so close but these already give me a lot of confidence.
Good to have you back mate, your previous videos have been an inspiration for me to start my own youtube channel about my own 4WD adventures. It would mean a lot if you could have a quick look and give some feedback, not the comprehensive camera setup that you have but hey that will come later with a well paying job haha. Looking forward to your thoughts on the Kings suspension, as well as the cape in the wet video!
G'day Todd, thanks mate its good to be back even if its only for a little while until work gets busy again hahah I'm really glad you started making your own channel and I will head there right now to have a look. Love this kind of stuff. Chat to you soon
Awesome, thanks for the feedback mate. I'm really excited about getting into shooting so if people are interested I will be very happy to share that journey and hopefully give us all one extra thing we can all connect over around a campfire somewhere.
Good to see you back. Spotted you coming out of Elim Beach and recognised the rego plate. Looking for wd to some more videos. Maybe a second channel for shooting stuff.
G'day mate, ahh good stuff. Feel welcome to flag me down next time we come across eachother on the tracks. Always like catching up with other 4wders and especially youtubers :D Thanks for the feedback on the shooting stuff. Its been real 50/50 the response so what i might do is make a couple of videos for this channel and see how it goes. Managing two channels might be a pain in the ass hahah
Thanks mate ... looking forward to sharing some shooting content. Perhaps there are more people like me getting older and a little broken so looking for a new sport hahah
Cheers mate, I hope you like the last few episodes. They are a little different, you lose a little continuity of story after so long between episodes but I hope they are fun to watch just the same. Thanks for the feedback on the shooting aspect too. Good to know :D
Good to see you’re back Gavin have missed you I’ve loved your videos in the past looking forward to the last of the Anne Beadell coming up And as others have said shootings probably better as a sub channel or as a on its own series in between doing four-wheel driving series don’t combine the two I don’t think
Thanks John and I appreciate the feedback on the shooting videos ... I just learned from another person in the comments section that adding shooting to the content could make my 4wd videos invisible to many people. I think it will go onto a second channel for sure now. Thank you for the feedback
Thanks mate :D appreciate the feedback on the shooting .... its very 50/50 on the responses so far ... not sure what I will do with that yet but will let you know. :D
Hey Gavin, great to see you back. You were my first UA-cam subscription a few years ago and enjoyed chatting at Perth 4x4 shows about your channel. Now i have many and often wondered where you got to. Looking forward to getting back into your videos, all the plans sound great, the shooting i wasn't keen on until you said it was target only - that sounds really interesting esp going on the journey. The 360 cameras sound awesome too - something very different and I presume an outcome of some of the tech you get into at work? Well done on an amazing career opportunity realised. Cheers Brad
Thanks Brad, I've been very lucky in my career and I'm looking forward to the next chapter. I love the filming too so hopefully I can find a little more time to explore QLD over the next 6 months. Lots of great tracks still to explore
Awesome! it will be great getting your feedback when I start doing those shooting videos .... especially if I start competing in the PRS comps ... need all the help i can get as a newbie :D
Hey Gary, its great to see you back, was wondering what happened to you a while back so I did a bit of googling and found you were with Rio Tinto and also found out a bit about what you were doing with them sounds like a dream job. My brother inlaw worked for Rio and loved every minute of it, he was in WA for quite a few years then went to Mongolia for three years. Really looking forward to seeing the rest of the Anne Beadell and agree with others that your CSR trip was one of the best I've seen. As a keen shooter I'm looking forward to that content also
Ahh thats great, your brother must be good if we sent him to Mongolia. The role has been amazing, i;m very lucky and I got to visit Mongolia as a result. It planted a strong Gobi Desert video idea into my head hahah :D
Yeah he was involved in setting it up, they actually dragged him out of retirement to go over there, he is now happily retired again on Russell Island. Now you've mentioned the Gobi you know you've got to do it. 😀😀😀
Thanks mate, love being over here. Growing up in the desert means I have a keen appreciation for the greenery and the wet season :D As for the BP51's - if your cruiser is under 3.5t fully loaded I think you will love them but if you can afford them, Kings have a fantastic reputation and they certainly feel good so far.
@@GavinGillett :) well... I don't have a Cruiser... I've got something better... A Defender ;) (jokes) I was a Toyota person but just wanted something different and that is made for touring/exploring, etc. I've fallen in love with it that much that I now have 2 :)
Love your channel and this is coming from a fellow content creator, 200 Series owner (with BP51’s🙃) and Queenslander. I would keep the shooting separate if it were me, it’s a little too far from the topics your core subscriber group signed up for. Having said that, I won’t unsubscribe but I might miss some of the good stuff thinking the video topic is primarily about shooting. Would be good to catch up and share a beer mate, cheers👍
G'day mate, i've not had the chance to meet to many local 4WDers yet so it will be great to catch up for a beer. I'm going to join the Overland Bound trip in a few weeks, you may be going as well?
I was just today looking at the website of a shooting range club and considering joining. I'm not a shooter and would be starting from scratch so I would be very interested in watching your journey.
if you live in the SEQ area i can help right away ... not the easiest of fastest process in the world but i have already been given great advice that i can share
Just discovered your content. Looks interesting enough to come back. Cheers. PS just for your/our benefit... Turn off auto focus on the DSLR camera you used to film this. The lens focus motor makes a hell of a noise while pointlessly hunting focus. Again thanks for the entertainment and info.✅
Welcome back. I'm looking forward to the remaining parts of the series, not so much the shooting component. I have no issue with hunters/shooters (I used to have a 30.06), im just not interested in that stuff.
Good to see you back Gavin, your videos are very good to view, so I will be looking forward to seeing what you have for us in the future. I personally don’t want to see anything on guns, no interest at all.
G'day Deane, no worries at all. Thank you fore the feedback. It helps a lot and I really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with me on this.
Thanks Dane, it's good to be back but i;m not sure how long that will last. Lots of change in Rio Tinto right now. Thanks for your feedback, it's really helpful :D
I agree with separate channel, moreso because of how it may affect the current one with regards ratings and how UA-cam sees it. Then tend to put guns, swearing etc in a different category which may make the 4WD stuff harder to come across in recommends etc. On the shooting front there's the range at Belmont for a bit of practice.
@@pantoqwerty Hi panto .. thanks for the feedback. You make a really good point that i'd not considered and I just finished telling someone in the comments that because it was roughly 50/50 on the feedback I might as well give it a go and see what happens hahah
Thanks mate, still have the plates for now. Luckily I still have a house in WA so I can keep them registered. Blown away with how expensive they are here in QLD, its a regular conversation starter here with the locals. They often ask me which organ I sold to afford them and they are blown away by how cheap they are in WA by comparison.
@@offgrid_explora616 Nice, keep them as long as you can hahah I hear Vic is just as expensive as QLD. $5000+ for my plates here in QLD and thats every year not a once off.
Thanks mate, I moved from Wickham a little over 2 years ago now , its gone so fast :D Hey thanks for the feedback on the shooting. It really helps me shape the content so i appreciate it :D
Hi Mack, thanks mate. I appreciate the feedback. It's real 50/50 so far between those that dont mind and those that would like to see it on a second channel haha
Hahah which honeymoon is that? :D Rio is a great company and we get 99% of things right. The trouble with the world we live in today is, that 1% that we and everyone in the world gets wrong simetimes is intollerable to some. Juukan shouldnt have happened but in my opinion those calling for resignations just scored a major own goal by removing their strongest advocates. It doesnt make much sense to me :D
Love your channel but disappointing highlighting Rio Tinto, knowing 6 years earlier they blasted a 46000 year old cave with high indigenous history in your own backyard.
The issue with heritage is a lot more complex than the media can cover. I'm incredibly happy working for Rio Tinto because I know how much effort we goto looking after the environment, culture and heritage. Would it surprise you to know that our relationships with the traditional owners are the longest ongoing relationships we maintain. 50+ years and very very few incidents, would it surprise you to know that despite this, our relationship with these traditional owners will continue? It's a mutually beneficial relationship that both parties want to be part of and work hard to ensure its successful. We don’t always get it right but you can be sure it will be blown up in the media when we don’t. I'm very happy to stay with Rio, we are the reason you have recyclable coffee pods, Apple phones and drink cans but know body knows we produce low to zero carbon materials in our portfolio.
We film a lot of our blasts but not all sites have the capability yet and not all blasts may need to be filmed from an operational perspective. I've trained roughly 80 pilots on the use of drones and we are one of the largest drone users in Australia now days. There is no footage of the Juukan blast that i'm aware of and if there was you wouldnt be able to see the caves from the natural perspective of where anyone working in that area would stand to operate a camera or drone, the caves would be below the natural horizon of the blasting area and further away than the legal limitations of operating a drone. e.g. visual line of site rules. I'm very familiar with those caves and the brockman area where they live. There is a lot of context missing from the national debate on these caves. I'm happy to have a discussion, I think you will find Rio Tinto to be significantly more transparent about everything we do than the media would lead you to believe. Feel welcome to reach out to me gavin.gillett@riotinto.com
Awesome to have you back 👍

Thanks Brad, I've been very lucky in my career and I'm looking forward to the next chapter. I love the filming too so hopefully I can find a little more time to explore QLD over the next 6 months. Lots of great tracks still to explore
Welcome back Gavin yeah im a shooter myself so would love to see that in your videos.
Awesome! it will be great getting your feedback when I start doing those shooting videos .... especially if I start competing in the PRS comps ... need all the help i can get as a newbie :D
Unreal man! Looks like you're kicking goals! Love to run into you on a track somewhere across this beautiful land.
I love chatting to people on track. If you ever see me out and about, dont hesitate to jump on the radio or say hello in camp :D
I'm about to start my own channel as an overlanding chef and butcher, i absolutely love your content Gav. I will catch up with you one day mate.
Great to see you back mate, looking good so Qld life must be agreeing with you 😁
Thanks mate, the QLD life is very good. Love the weather and I hope the border opens up soon so we can grab a beer :D
Qld is the place to be Glenn. Pretty sure I sent you that memo 😉
Great to see you back mate! Been way too long!
Looking forward to seeing some more from you.
Love the gun idea!
Cheers mate ... and thanks for the feedback on the shooting content :D
King Shocks are good, very happy with mine......
Thanks Charles, they feel the goods so far. Cant wait to play with them in some more extreme conditions..
As a keen shooter I'm looking forward to that content also
Sorry Gav, auto correction got me again
Ahh thats great, your brother must be good if we sent him to Mongolia. The role has been amazing, i;m very lucky and I got to visit Mongolia as a result. It planted a strong Gobi Desert video idea into my head hahah :D
Yeah he was involved in setting it up, they actually dragged him out of retirement to go over there, he is now happily retired again on Russell Island. Now you've mentioned the Gobi you know you've got to do it. 😀😀😀
I just liked this because you're back
Hahah thanks mate ... I love sharing these amazing places with you and even more so when I get to meet you guys down these tracks.
Good to see your a local now... welcome to sunny SEQ 😎
Interesting to hear about the BP51 shocks... might not go down that path
A Defender ;) (jokes)
I was a Toyota person but just wanted something different and that is made for touring/exploring, etc. I've fallen in love with it that much that I now have 2 :)
@@robmacca67 Nice, I really like the defenders and have thought about owning one someday. Great vehicles,
Love your channel and this is coming from a fellow content creator, 200 Series owner (with BP51’s🙃) and Queenslander.
@@GavinGillett sent you a Messenger message to take if off line mate. Go well.
I was just today looking at the website of a shooting range club and considering joining. I'm not a shooter and would be starting from scratch so I would be very interested in watching your journey.
if you live in the SEQ area i can help right away ... not the easiest of fastest process in the world but i have already been given great advice that i can share
Gavin Gillett thanks Gavin for the offer but I live in Perth. I’ll be happy watch your experience and learn.
@@peterlee543 no worries at all :D
Just discovered your content. Looks interesting enough to come back. Cheers.
PS just for your/our benefit...
Turn off auto focus on the DSLR camera you used to film this. The lens focus motor makes a hell of a noise while pointlessly hunting focus.
Again thanks for the entertainment and info.✅
Welcome back. I'm looking forward to the remaining parts of the series, not so much the shooting component. I have no issue with hunters/shooters (I used to have a 30.06), im just not interested in that stuff.
Thanks mate, especially on the shooting content feedback .. that really helps :D
Great you're back! Personal opinion: shooting on a different channel.
Thanks Dane, it's good to be back but i;m not sure how long that will last. Lots of change in Rio Tinto right now. Thanks for your feedback, it's really helpful :D
Yeah I agree try and make a different channel for your shooting
Yeah as a shooter too, leave it for another channel
I agree with separate channel, moreso because of how it may affect the current one with regards ratings and how UA-cam sees it. Then tend to put guns, swearing etc in a different category which may make the 4WD stuff harder to come across in recommends etc.
On the shooting front there's the range at Belmont for a bit of practice.
@@pantoqwerty Hi panto .. thanks for the feedback. You make a really good point that i'd not considered and I just finished telling someone in the comments that because it was roughly 50/50 on the feedback I might as well give it a go and see what happens hahah
So happy your back dude, you covered a few topics but what about your plates? No more rockyroad?
Thanks mate, still have the plates for now. Luckily I still have a house in WA so I can keep them registered. Blown away with how expensive they are here in QLD, its a regular conversation starter here with the locals. They often ask me which organ I sold to afford them and they are blown away by how cheap they are in WA by comparison.
@@GavinGillett I'm from Broome and still have my customs lol. Now in vic
@@offgrid_explora616 Nice, keep them as long as you can hahah I hear Vic is just as expensive as QLD. $5000+ for my plates here in QLD and thats every year not a once off.
I came back. Did miss u. Dorter in Wickham said you'd flown the coup. Looking forward to new vidz. Put shooting on different channel!
Thanks mate, I moved from
Wickham a little over 2 years ago now , its gone so fast :D Hey thanks for the feedback on the shooting. It really helps me shape the content so i appreciate it :D
Would love to see your added shooting content!
Cheers mate, so far the addition of shooting content has been well received so might be a go :D
Love 4wding/touring. Love shooting. Win win.
Awesome, thanks mate :D
Great to have you back. Not interested in the shooting. I think if you do it then best set up another channel.
Hi Mack, thanks mate. I appreciate the feedback. It's real 50/50 so far between those that dont mind and those that would like to see it on a second channel haha
Wondering wr ya been, yer I’m in for the shooting cheers.
Sorry Gav, auto correction got me again
All good mate, no worries at all. I got the gist of it :D
The rio honey moon is over yeh
Hahah which honeymoon is that? :D Rio is a great company and we get 99% of things right. The trouble with the world we live in today is, that 1% that we and everyone in the world gets wrong simetimes is intollerable to some. Juukan shouldnt have happened but in my opinion those calling for resignations just scored a major own goal by removing their strongest advocates. It doesnt make much sense to me :D
Send it
Love your channel but disappointing highlighting Rio Tinto, knowing 6 years earlier they blasted a 46000 year old cave with high indigenous history in your own backyard.
Nice face 🍻
Face for radio hahaha
Shooting 👎 Your 4wd videos 👍👍👍👍
Thanks mate, appreciate the feedback on the shooting idea and i;m glad you like the videos :D
Did you get the chance to film rios destruction of Aboriginal cultural sites or don't they let you film the truth ? Just asking
