I have one of these but the spring/windup mechanism is shot... winds but ratchet hold intermittently. If I manage to wind it and release the on button the spring releases but the tires do not spin. Is there a source for parts (replace spring/gears mechanism) for these cars??
Yes, there are parts suppliers. if you go to my homepage and click "About" you can scroll down to "Links" and there are a number of parts suppliers there. That being said, it might be easier, and cheaper, to buy a parts car and scavenge parts off of that.
@@tinmeister356 Thanks... My Micro Racer 1046, I believe is a re-issue (wasn't there someone who bought up all the Shuco parts and machines and manufactured these in the US for awhile in the 1990's). In any case I have this and a few originals I had as a child in the 50's. I thought it sad that this one just sat on the shelf and did not work. I will peruse the links you suggest or may, in fact, sell this one for part. Thanks for you timely response!!
According to Ulrich Schweizer's book "Schuco, the Vehicles of the Classic-Collection", after SChuco went bankrupt, the Nutz company produced Micro Racers with original Schuco tooling. After the owner passed away, the American company "Lilliput" produced the Micro Racers. Good luck with your parts search.
@@tinmeister356 I also have many Schuco Micro Racers - most are Western Germany, but also some marked US Zone Germany. I also have some recent reissues. I must say that the quality (fit and finish) of the reissues is poor compared to the originals.
I am surprised to hear that the Micro Racers have made in "US Zone..." on them. They wen't built until 1954, and Western Germany was formed in 1950. Strange...
Could you post a few photos of those Micro Racers from US Zone? i would like to compare the castings to the later "Western Germany" castings. For instance, the early VW's did not have the lights on the top of the front fenders like the later VW's did. Thanks!
Great tutorial of the Schuco Mocro racer👍
Thank you 👍

What are the approximate production years of the Schuco Micro Racers with a bottom plate marked "Made in US Zone Germany"?
Good question. I’ll do a bit of research and get back to you.
