Some may be slightly more careful, or may be supported by a coalition that gives them the numbers, some may be more daring even alone, but in general all males seem driven by this instinct when they enter their prime. Also, there may be a survival side to this behavior too, as the more static they stay in their territory, the more they may allow other prides/coalitions to grow and eventually come conquer them. In this sense, the behavior is quite similar to kingdoms of the old age.

It’s always surprising to witness the personality of a male lion. Just how they live. They don’t anticipate that fight to the death. It’s in the moment living. Everyday to the fullest. They just keep moving forward. Expansion expansion expansion. Its a war and it’s sad in knowing they could battle. But such is lion life.

I just commented somewhere in the last month the reason Nharu's have done so well is because he has stuck to that Pride alone...Apparently he wasn't listening to me...Another thought - we never found out what happened to the fourth Tintswalo male - it could have been anyone...

**Just throwing out an idea?** It would be awesome to have a lineage chart made up showing, the last 3 years of pride members. Their heritage. age. pride. territory. status (alive or deceased). Knowing who is who and BY who. breaking down the ancestral generations of each pride by member going back to when the videos started maybe? Something simple. I know you guys only know so much. But knowing their history but how they’ve blended over time, and to follow to where they are now, would be so amazing!

I've never heard the slurping of water from an elephant's trunk before. If that's actually what that sound was, it was cool to hear that for the first time.

You have been so excellent in following the history and lineage of the lions in your area. I already mentioned to Londolozi about their leopard info being put in a loose leaf binder for us virtual safari goers, with us longing to visit South African reserves and enthralled with the leopards and lions we’ve come to know while visiting virtually, Maybe a ringed binder where pages can subsequently be added and collected could be sold for a price. With short journaling spots for the living leopards we are currently watching. Then we might even have a record of sweet babies that didn’t make it and are still noteworthy… what do I know. Basically saying, I’d buy one and more as gifts! I’d pay to have on going pages added to my Big Cat Safari Binder (whatever name,😉) Maybe presale it… raise those funds! I’d love receiving annual installment/update pages!! Virtual is great but there comes a time when us virtual safari folks need something tangible to pass around while drinking coffee ☕️ with friends!! Alistair , Back then or not to long ago the SEARCH for a Naturalist trained also in Natural Resources to take the worry from you and your partners venture and maximize the following as you should if you feel and know your providing a great experience and generate even Lodge stays , I learned in a side family business that people told me I was really great at thinking outside the box , At the Lodge that I may visit one day , Were around the same age, Did you actually see RedRoad as a cub ? That’s the road by the Lodge he got his name from , Horseshoe’s or Darts and ping ping ? Or pool ? Lodge I suspect has a recreation room , I built a nice large fire pit as going up close to us the rugged mountains and a fire is a priority as horseradish on a slab of beef or Buff ? Something about Hippos ruins my appetite, Like a oily weird meat , Rattlesnake is like chicken but most overcook it as I the first time, Unique choices in that department there I reckon , RedRoad and Casper getting their fan male, Alistair up in years barely talking with a Ale in hand Ih RedRoad is turning 28 today ! If all was perfect in a place life is always evolving and balanced with a well studied unprecedented diet that assures RR’S longevity to that lofty prediction , But in a perfect world , Your ahhhhhhahhh 😤😵💫😾! Nharu's are stable - there are alway a solo visitor from Kruger now and then but no coalition. Seems like it more like the Mbiri male venture, but the Tintswalo males didn't respond to the Mbiri male's roaring and scent-marking. The Orphen males ran all over them until they passed.

If the Mbiri females are daughters of the Matimba'a and the Nharu's are the daughters of the Birmingham pride then both prides are cousins from the same Skybed bloodline. It's sad that they might end up fighting and killing each other when they are family.
There is no such thing as that in the lion world, the fittest and the strongest survives, once they leave their natal pride no family love, they mate, they kill each other, they are lions at the end of the day

a little different, Red Road is a proven fighter and very big, he handled the Orpen males- they couldn't take him, plus he grew up around the Tintswalo boys.
I wish someone would explain what happens to cubs that are unborn when different males take over the pride. Can the new males understand that those cubs when born are not theirs.
Just hope that the reserve lets nature do its course. If the RRM and the tintswalo boys were to go at then let lion nature plays its course, dont interfere. I wish someone would explain what happens to cubs that are unborn when different males take over the pride. Can the new males understand that those cubs when born are not theirs.
If they doubt they will kill otherwise nothing behave like theirs

Just hope that the reserve lets nature do its course. If the RRM and the tintswalo boys were to go at then let lion nature plays its course, dont interfere. Everybody says reserves never interfere with nature but people with half a brain knows that's full of doodoo. Good luck to RRM, hopefully he succeeds to what he is seeking. The 2 + 1 tintswalo boys needs to leave their natal pride anyways
