What about self determination theory? Have these only been motivational theories or also behavioral? Sounds somehow like the Fogg behavior model would fit there as well.
How do people use this information to increase productivity in the company? When is each model applicable? Solve pathologies? Use in positivistic frameworks? A couple of big elements seems to be missing from these models - Threat, whether perceived real. Embarrassment, regret. For high productivity, Mezirow builds into his model for transformative learning a necessary phase of "self-examination with feelings of guilt or shame." He places that as a universal(!) phase of changing one's situation.
Can I ask more of a philosophical question?: Exactly what is motivation? It seems like it's a certain connection between our reasons and desires. But we can have still have reasons/desires that we don't act on, so is there something extra involved? I'm not sure this is answered by the content theories. I'm thinking something like in the case of addiction: Someone might have all the reasons/desires to quit but still not give up their addiction. It's like they need something extra, like motivation, to actually commit to quitting.
The motivation to quit will come from what exactly comes after quitting, if it is favorable enough to quit then that's the motivation for quitting. Motivation is the "motive" like a reason for committing to something. i might commit to my job if it pays well for ex
1.in terms of mayo's motivation theory ,low norms & cohesiveness is not "no impact" , i think its call " lazy" 2.reinforcement theory looks very similiar to consumer behaviour learning call classical and operant leanring, they have the same stimulus and reinforcement, just become condition and uncondition, 3. self-efficacy theory should include "psychological" overall thank you very much :)
I always read that Maslow's Esteem need was external esteem, rather than self-esteem which belongs in Self-Actualization. Lately, I've seen it listed, as you have it, as Self-esteem. And yet, that was not the way you verbally described it.
Who do I have to cite if I require to use the needs-behavior-satisfaction theory example? Is this Taylor's theory as I tried to look it up but didn't manage to find it. Thank you!
