@@chrisliepe Chris, could you please do a more in depth comparison between her and Chester? I feel like her distortion is different but I can't quite put my finger on why and how. And I am not referring to the fact that she is a woman. The scream seems more like pure fry than Chester's fry/false chord hybrid? I might be wrong.
Totally made me emotional. Thank you
Hey Chris love your channel, working on my voice everyday planning on joining your course soon
It's coming... hopefully Monday if we can get the copyright stuff worked out
@@chrisliepe amazing, thanks!
Watching Mike's face, gestures, and body language says everything. You can tell he is so proud of Emily and happy to have her part of LP. He said in the Zane Lowe interview that they had several people come in and do sessions with the band, just playing around and trying to get a feel for where things were. He said that Emily was the only one who could make his brain accept it as an LP song. What high praise and confidence he has in her and I agree. Was she perfect, no...but that just endeared me even more to her. She is human and I assume full of stress, pressure, and emotion. I also give her a lot of grace as those older songs were not created for her but I thought she adapted well and did them justice. I am more excited to hear her on the new stuff where she was part of the creative process.
100% agree

A lot of emotions seeing this
agree im not ashamed to say i cried a little, it was truly touching
You're absolutely correct. I'm 55 years old, and tears ran down my face watching this. I'm glad their back! Chester is smiling from the heavens above.
This is the musical equivalent of when Luke appeared on The Mandalorian lol. I'm cracked out on the reactions.
just wana say the official music video is dope
too hard to see :')
When he said “it’s good to see you again” I literally had goosebumps and cheered. Good to see I wasn’t alone. I’m so into this!
Man I about lost my shit! Definitely got emotional at that point!
I’ve rewatched the show all day and every time it just hits me so hard
I cried like a baby haha
@@sunshinevg2640 same
I got really emotional, too. Chester voice got me through so much. Having my favorite band back feels so so good.
I didn’t expect this to make me cry..
at first I frowned on it.. Chester can’t be replaced, ever.. but I like it. Keeping his music alive 🫡
Yes CB is irreplaceable being so good singer, great frontman. But he's gone and no need to look for a good replacement as his caliber but without regard to value of human life.
yes ❤❤❤
I got chills
She didnt try to replace him, she did her own thing in a way that honors him beautifully. :,) ❤
same bruh. she gave me chills and made me cry at the same time. i miss CB so much!
The moment Mike points at Emily as if to say here she is and she hits the chorus with absolute perfection gives me chills every time! Loving the new direction they have gone in because it’s just a perfect match as you said
Emily Armstrong has balls of steel. She's become one of the most famous personalities in the metal scene overnight and is following in incredibly big shoes. But it sounds awesome
She certainly does. I give her props for even agreeing to be the singer she had to know she's gonna get hate simply for not being chester
@@mattterrell4304 As the band needed a long time to get over the loss of Chester, the fans needed too. But now the fans also need to understand that this is not a replacement, its a new, different version of the band you cannot compare to.
@mh9611 absolutely. She isn't a replacement, she isn't trying to fill his shoes. She's new
She’s not his replacement, she’s just a part of LP’s evolution. Her voice blends beautifully with Mike’s too.
Agreed. Very brave and she sounds incredible
Going in a different direction was a smart move by the band. Trying to replicate Chester's exact sound would always fall flat in the eyes of the old school fans. Emily's sound is great and the new song is a banger!
Its not really a different direction.
It's not bad, but they should change the name of the band to The Emptiness Machine.
Her grit and tone is OK. Some of us wanna be nice, but being honest, she just can not match Chester's intensity.
I like her style, but don't sing the old songs. We know how they go, Chester's tone is burned in our souls, she is matching it just as much as us pro singers can. Sing the new stuff leave the old stuff behind.
@@ajgarcia1428 id say this is a case where you cannot please everyone

@@teib757 well said, Buddy
She has balls, knowing how many people will compare and how people could be cruel. She's amazing!!!! And an EPIC singer!
Now there are some questions on how real those balls actually are 😮..😂
Take a look in the comment section of the live stream to see how rude and mean people are... And how the overwhelming majority gives her a warm welcome and is full of joy and some even in tears about the return of LP. It's like seeing a beloved person that you presumed dead and gone forever, but here they are, alive and well after a long period of healing.
LP is back and I'm all in for it, can't wait to hear the album and finally see them live!

I got teary-eyed when Mike said, "It's good to see you again." 🥺🥹
I do the same once a month, when the paycheck comes in.
This is hands down the best of all react videos out there.
No cringe, no exaggerations. Real emotions and excitement.

And being able to continue on the constructive analysis instead of blurping random short opinions definitely tops the cake.
Bravo. You're the kind of person I'd love to hang out with.
Precisely that! You go in the video, no introductions or anything, just expertise and reacting, it's a breath of fresh air actually
Emotionless to me.
This is a pure banger and probably one of the greatest comebacks.
This is an against all odds comeback. And people dare to judge or say actual negative shit lmao. They literally made the best decision but not putting a direct impersonator and also by choosing this lady who impressed hundreds of thousands yesterday

Same here😂
Same dude. I've literally been looking around for bands with a female vocalist with a voice like this. And now there's one in my favorite bands of all time, what a phenomenal reveal.
Her version of Lost was incredibly emotional. You can tell in some of the harder screams that she could use a little polishing, but her cleans live were very solid. Excited to see this iteration of LP.
I think she was very nervous, but man...she knows she's taking on an audience full of love & loyalty for Chester. I think as the she's embraced by the fan base, she'll loosen up. I think she freaking rocked it and that Chester was head banging along with us. I say WELCOME BACK LP ❤
She absolutely DESTROYED bleed it out
@@michelleporter2402 Totally, imagine stepping on stage for one of the biggest bands ever after everything that's happened. I don't care how strong willed you are, that's going to be so intense. On top of that, it's a first impression and so you know what you do that night is going to make a huge difference in how things move forward.
She definitely was emotional in the song.
Thought her screams are good but the cleans needed more work
But she was singing live and not a backing track layered over the top like a lot bigger modern artists these days
Wow, she actually sounds literally just as good as her in the studio. I didn't have big expectations but I'll say she definitely exceeded them.
I met Emily at a Dead Sara concert in 2022 in Lisbon and then in London. Been a long time fan and she is a wonderful person who appreciates her fans. Dead Sara had a song titled "One Day We'll Make It Big" - well Emily, you have!

@@mina_itse It's true, I like all kinds of music. There's even a ton of music that I don't really care for but I can still respect it. Not this stuff though. LP and numetal was seriously the most lame rock music ever pushed to the masses. I can still hear Chester's spirit. They are still them. And I love this choice. ❤
Yeah despite that his voice broke so many times in the show trying to reach Chester's notes. I mean she should focus on what she's capable of. But she was really good.
She sounds fireee 🔥 Welcome back Linkin Park ❤
Amen ❤

I agree Im currently working on my singing/screams and this was truly inspiring
Slaps on mute
Awful. She sounds awful and generic.
As hard as it may seem, LP fans need to remember it was never Linkin Park who betrayed Chester. He made his own choices. Them moving on is EXACTLY what they should do and in their own time. Im happy to see them do it, Mike is such an awesome songwriter and producer, their new stuff will be as good as ever. Emily will own this, can already feel it :D
Totally agree. We all love and miss Chester and he was both a personality and a voice that can never be replaced.
But it's been 7 years. I don't know how anyone can complain they have moved on when it's taken them 7 years after his passing to find a new singer that fits with the band.
To me, that's one hell of a grieving process and shows just how hard they've found it without him.
I hope all these "fans" that attacked them whenever they didn't make Hybrid Theory 2.0 leave Emily alone and appreciate that these guys get to make amazing music together again.
I miss Chester so much.. She's great. I'm happy and sad, roller-coaster of emotions.. Thanks for the vid Chris ❤
Yes same, me too. A lot of emotions.😢❤
Seeing Mike's smile during the show made me happy.
I love her voice, she kinda has an Oliver Sykes (on a good day) feel and I'm glad they went with someone who doesn't sound like Chester.
During the show I was looking forward to seeing Chris Leipe analysis on her vocals.
So true, especially his "it's good to see you again" in the beginning.
@@dereinzigwahreRichi oof yeah absolutely. I still get choked up a bit when rewatching.
I watched Mike smile over the last 7 years. I watched him grin with his eyes here. I'm excited to see what's next for Linkin Park, and I'm sure Chester would be smiling knowing that Linkin Park is still making music and continuing his legacy.
they were ALL smiling, but yeah it's great to see them happy again
Totally the Oly comment haha. LOVE him, but he's struggled with health. Emily also reminds me of Lacey Sturm from Flyleaf!
I like her. It feels like a Chester's spiritual sister. I think they made a good choice for this next chapter

Yeah... I highly doubt Chester would associate with a scientologist and rape apologist.
She delivers the same vibe in her own way, she's a perfect fit!!

Some hardcore fans who can’t get over nostalgia will probably hate her but if you’re a true fan of LP and music in general this is a brillant move can’t wait to see what’s next for them! I’ve listened to them since hybrid theory and I’m stoked to see them make a come back and see Emily give her own twist and turn to old LP songs when she gets more comfortable and get out of Chester’s shadow, good for her!
I totally agree with you. She’s amazing
Great reaction!!! I love your enthusiasm❤
Lol. You had the same reaction I did to the beginning... Love Shinoda but was hoping for something else...and they delivered it!
Haha I was counting the spots they had on stage when unwrapping the instruments. That empty mic stand was such a tease!
Yes, the simple fact is the weakest part of the song is the first chorus. Everyone loves Mike, and rightfully so, but he can’t sing. He can pull off verses and rap, but he can’t carry a chorus on his own singing. Honestly, she could have come in sooner. Actually, if she would have sung the first chorus with Mike cleanly it would make the song better (If she can sing clean. IDK anything about Dead Sara).

Tears of joy because when I heard Emily come into the song, it reminded me of how I felt when I heard Chester, that surprise and shock of the delivery of the words with power and grit and that tone and it was a pleasant surprise.
Chester will never be replicated, but I honestly believe this was an amazing choice and Emily will do the iconic songs justice in her own way and the fans will be pleased.
Let’s be grateful that Linkin Park will continue in a new direction and we can continue to celebrate the magical Chester Bennington
I can guarantee you he’s smiling down on them and would totally dig her style and sound, she killed it during the performance too 🔥
Emily SOUNDS AMAZING! 😻
Watched the entire 1 hour show last night, I am sooooooooooo excited about her. I also love that they did not autotune her voice, it broke slightly twice, but it's so risky and out there, right on the edge, and her energy is through the roof. Mike Shinoda looks so happy getting to play their songs again like this, the entire band is just so revitalised. Loving it!
She killed it. 🔥 Welcome to her and to Colin. And welcome back, Linkin Park.
Lol. Keep on smoking that crap pip...

The video to this song is phenomenal. I've been on an emotional rollercoaster ride since last night. I absolutely loved listening to her last night and for the whole show I actually fought back tears. After the show I had to listen to Chester. And I woke up this morning feeling the same. Watching the video this morning actually blew me away. I'm really excited for this new chapter of Linkin Park. And I know wherever Chester is he has to be smiling knowing his brothers are back at it. RIP Chester Bennington ❤️
I literally fell asleep to the song on repeat last night (it cycles REALLY well on itself). It grew on me so damn quickly; it’s like getting a second chance to latch onto childhood.
@vetramont it definitely brings me back to my late teens' early 20s when Linkin Park exploded on the scene. I've been a fan from day 1. Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington were absolutely magical with their music. Now Mike and Emily will make phenomenal music and Emptiness Machine is a beautiful example of that. I'm really excited for the new album!!!

Seeing Mike smile during the show was worth so, so much. I’m so happy for them and for us, and so grateful for Emily for making the band so happy after such a loss. She could be unable to carry a tune in a bucket but because she makes them so pumped to be on stage I would still listen/go to shows. 💗
I remember sitting in this livestream shaking and when mike said: "its good to see you guys again" i birsted into tears.

Best decision they could’ve made, she’s awesome. I feel like any male stepping in would’ve immediately been deemed Chester’s replacement. She’s got a similar vocal range to Chester and it feels more like they’re honoring him instead of replacing him. Cant wait to hear the rest of this album
Suicide Silence was the best example

My brain is weird and when she sings, I can hear Chester singing it, kind of like when you read a book and you read it in a character voice that you’ve seen/heard in a movie. His essence is still in the music and that is what truly honors him. Also drummer is different too, guess he retired.
Rob said he couldn't continue with Linkin Park, hence the change. I guess the loss of Chester was too much for him to want to come back to the band in any guise.
New drummer is phenomenal, though!

She will never replace Chester, but I'm glad that my favourite band got to turn a new leaf.
Dead Sara, I will miss you... but I love this came together so well
When i first heard a clip of her singing i thought she sounded a little like Chester. In a good way shes got a little grit in her voice with his energy but at the same time uniquely herself. In short a great fit

Loved DS since 2012 and I am unbelievably stoked to see Emily take this on. I’ve always felt that their talent deserved more recognition.
Yeah LP is lucky to have someone of her artistic and raw vocal talent. Dead Sara is the better band imo, less commercial, more rock n roll. I'll miss them.
@francoisleroux3165 Yeeeeeea I agree for the most part but I have my opinions about DS. I won't put them on blast here but I'll say a lot of my suspicions about the band were more than confirmed here lately. At the core the music is what matters and their early shit rocked. The latter kinda wandered and felt a bit disingenuous and forced. I still like em but we'll save the other stuff for later.
Dude, just discovered dead Sara. I’m actually mad I didn’t know about them sooner. So good!!
An interesting fact about her, she's actually worked with Taka and ONE OK ROCK. I can see them working with her and LP especially when OOR was supposed to tour with them before Chester died. You'll love Taka's harsh vocals in the song One by One live at Saitama super arena 35xxxv tour. Somehow Taka sings and screams perfectly while jumping and spinning. You also get to see the guitarist's harsh vocals as well.

@@meriwoo7382 Taka actually brought it up today. He posted it on his channel. It didn't really have a lot of details other than being a producer. @@KBRollerthe main issue I’ve seen is because she’s apart or was apart of Scientology and was on the stand in defense of Danny Masterson during his trial but at the same time. It’s her past. It doesn’t affect her music or how she sounds. IMO
@@deathjr112That's a fair enough position, but I feel that it does kind of affect things. Linkin Park has been one of those bands where the members are fairly open about their past and their struggles. Time will tell if Emily and the new drummer fit in with that dynamic.
That being said, we shouldn't be condemning her for who she was, but who she shows herself to be. I'm hoping she got out of Scientology, because that "religion" as a whole is a cult-like trap for the rich and famous. I don't know anything about this Masterson person, but there's a difference between defending someone while the trial is going and defending them after conviction. If she defended them before conviction, and didn't after, then I don't see an issue.
She's not Chester, but, she doesn't have to be, she really has done Chester, LP and herself proud. Big fan of her and the new sound. LP will live on.
You look sooooo genuinely excited! I felt the same while listening to the live version first. I can´t wait to hear LP live somewhere in the near future.
Emily is awesome, I loved the live and am happy that you enjoyed it too Chris! Letsgooooo new LP era incoming🔥
3:58 is giving me goose bumps since hours, can't stop listening the song 🔥
How do you move forward by honoring the legacy. It’s not easy and I just saw the interview in their channel and it’s so beautiful how they told the story. They know each other for years and were working together, making music and it got to a point where all of them thought “…yeah she’s the singer”
And Emily told she wanted to make the songs justice as a fan of them and Chester. I’m really glad they’re back 🥹
I have watched like more than 20+ reaction videos of emptiness machine but never get bored. LP is not just a band, it is emotion
Emily Armstrong is badass!! She is awesome! Love her!
I got LEGIT goosebumps hearing her scream that chorus the first time
I like her voice. I like it a lot
This whole livestream had me real emotional. The band who first made me fall in love with music is back❤️.
New song rips hard, damn excited to see what Emily and Colin bring to the table!
Emily is just amazing, love it so so much, can't wait for the album
Emptiness Machine basically predicted how the haters will respond to her. People who thinks replacing Chester with someone who sounds like him are selfish and all it's going to do is erase Chester's legacy.
Hey Chrisss, i really wasn't expecting your reaction so fast! since i'm here i wanted to tell you that this wednesday i started vocal coaching and i brought Given Up to practice it, i'm so exciteddd, i would love to hit you up whenever i get a good shoot of the song if that's cool with you! Also, loving the new energy of Emily, she's just obliterating it
She works so well, its so uncanny how similar and comfortable her voice is while being so new and fresh. Thanks for the great breakdown Chris.
Her screams are so fucking powerful, she is piercing my heart with every word of that chorus. I am so exited for the future.
Her voice is such a triumph. Amazing vocalist. Great addition to Linkin Park.
haha I had that same reaction!!! She is amazing. Can't wait for their new stuff following emptiness machine. just like you said it: nice to hear you, Emily!
Watched the whole live premier too, and I'd say she fits the band perfectly - some of the songs didn't sound as good with her, but none of them sounded bad, and some of them were perfect... but the song that was written with her was outstanding. I think she does the old songs justice, but the new songs, I think, will be fire. Mike Shinoda said it best when he said in the introduction, in the part of Chester, you - talking about the audience. She's not there to be a new Chester, she's there to be a part of a band as herself.
Yes! You nailed it here
Emily Armstrong sounds awesome and any day with new Linkin Park is a good day :)
😂
I agree, man. To have that unreal “chord” sound out of one voice is so damn rare. Shes a great fit because not only is she effing talented, some dude would just be a guy trying to sound like a legend and it wouldn’t work.
Welcome Emily! You are amazing. Chester of course I have in my heart as fan but she’s incredible!! Fits the sound perfectly. All the best to them and happy to see them come back ❤ I got chills!! Yay
This felt like genuine LP. Anyone, wether you like the new vocals or not, should watch the whole live concert and the interview.
