@@setrikaz9636 That's great and I'm so thankful for GreatScott's videos. The question is why are his 6 minute videos more helpful to us then the paid lectures we've sat through in college?🤔
@@Paradox3627505 school, college, university and all other of these things teach you many things, but usually those things you learned are outdated as hell and wont help you in real life situations. I mean like the most mOdErN thing that schools may teach you is Arduino, which is a technology from 10 years ago, they dont teach you something to use in a year or so, they teach you what they already used in many years back
Thanks a lot! Also the "freshen up an old signal" hint is valuable. Just wanted to leave a thank you here, since you helped me also a lot and I watched a lot of your videos.
I was just desingning a project on software - hardware and had to take in count those problems, I already knew all you said there and it was very crazy that you uploaded it the same time I was working with that haahha, had to make the subtitles on spanish! Enjoy the subtitles!, thanks for all your work
Luiz Fernando you can also use a 555 for combing your hair and cleaning the dirt from under your fingernails... without even a battery! They are very versatile, if a bit old-school.
Ray, I made an extremely loud noise with one the other day without a battery. I had dropped one on the floor. It landed legs up. I was barefoot and found the chip. The noise generated scared the cat out of the shop.
The high/low values for the inputs in the datasheet of a microcontroller (or pretty much any digital input pin of any logic circuit) are not equivalent to those of a schmitt trigger. They tell you what will definitely be seen as high or low voltage, but the outcome for everything in between is undefined.
using an op-amp as a comparator can have quit few pitfalls. Some op-amps have protection diodes between the +/- inputs so you can have more than a few 100mV between them and some op-amps invert their output when they hit the rail
Wooaa, kinda over my pay grade! ... Didn't quite match my query towards a simple explanation for the incorporation of the Schmitt Trigger into a touch probe sensor circuit. Very well done though. Thank You
Plz do a vid about MOV's metal oxide varistors, I can't find much solid info on them, you seem like a pretty reputable source so your video will probably get first at the top of the search results.
*Why do you keep saying shipping on JLCPCB is free? Am I doing something wrong? I'm always getting at least 10 dollars shipping with Registered Air Mail.*
"keep saying"? I did not mention the free shipping in the last videos. If you experience problems with the coupon then contact JLCPCB. That always worked so far.
Island Monkey for your first order only. Probably not for registered air mail though.

Btw, what I hate about PCB manufacturers that price is hard to compare :( They seem to compete with the price of the board, but shipping is always more then the price of small boards. And "surely" there is no easy way to know what will be the total cost anyway for you in advance, so it's hard to compare all of these manufacturers based on the total cost, what people would be interested more (I guess) rather than some "imaginary" price which is never what you have to pay (ie, the "without shipping cost" price). Ok, for JLCPCB , probably shipping is free for the first order, that's true, but I meant in general. I would prefer a fixed price with ALL things included from all manufacturers (for about the same PCB surely) so it's much nicer to check and compare prices then. But I guess this is exactly what they don't want us to be able to do ... ?
Hey, greatt video, could you make make an H-bridge with N Chanel MOSFET logic or standard for controlling DC motors at High currents and you could do a DIY VS BUY if you want, In the internet Theresa is a little information about this.
on a circuit bord we make on school 3 schimitt trigger's are used to boost a 9 volt battery to 30 volts only using diodes an elecrtrolitic capasitors no external power is used only the 9 volt batery ter is no induktors and transformers on the circuit bord
74LS132P confusing me !! 😵😵😭😭 , it's datasheet is also very confusing , i wanna test this ic , but I don't know whether its Nand gate connected before of schmitt trigger or after that ???? By powering ic with 5v I measured its output voltage on its one ( two input Nand-schmitt ) that is 0.9 v on input A and B and 0.3v on its output Y !!!!! , it is ok to test one input schmit trigger for me !!! but ------ " How to test ' two Input schmitt with Nand ' Output With Hysteresis ????? Datasheet shows :// - on Vcc= 5V , VTh+ = 1.5 To 2V max ,, VTh- = 0.6 to 1.1V max !!!!?? and vth+ to vth- = 0.4 to 0.8 type ????? any one tell how to test it using potentiometers and multimeters ?????
Do Schmitt triggers introduce a small amount of hysteresis into the equation versus the way op amps behave? I'm guessing that's what's happening. EDIT: Ahh, you just mentioned it in the video as I was watching. Thanks for the video!
GreatScott, can you try to use a Schmitt trigger to make a power button? So you would have one button to turn on/off an Arduino or any other device(from 0-3Amperes).
Can you use the schmidt trigger for a subwoofer circuit to only let pass the high voltage peaks comming from the bass? Because i am trying to build one on my own and not copy circuits from the internet. And keep up the work. Your videos really help:)
Amazing coincidence! I just ordered a tube of 74HC14’s a week ago for a project to “de-bounce” a set of push buttons on a control panel! Thank you for the great video as always. Trying to learn how to make a custom shape PCB... can anyone help?
James Childs custom shape as in the outline of the fibreglass board itself? The cheapest way is probably a hand held fretsaw. Practice on some scrap cos they're not the easiest things to control neatly..
Good point. I am a complete electronics noob. In fact, I didn't understand much in this video. Would it be exactly the same thing or are there trade offs?
cheaper, can use larger current, more control and more thresholds but they need more adjustments and depend on design. for small currents like .1-10ma probably is better to use chips
Atlas WalkedAway yep, it's a trade off between component count and a bit of cpu time, and for 8 buttons saving 16 components and pcb space is often worthwhile. For anyone else reading this, the cap and resistor is a low pass filter. So you can replace it with a simple software model. Is that the method you use?
+Ray Kent Yup, It's been a minute since I've used it but its either native or it's a component of my keypad library. I never noticed any affect to performance, but I wasn't trying to use buttons to raise or lower a levitating object or anything precise like that. Just millis() timer based stuff.
I’m an engineering student and these videos are more helpful then my actual lectures
same here

You are one of the few channels that actually uses the paid promotion feature. Thanks for doing this.
Thanks a lot. Your videos help a lot for homework assignments, lab reports and lab work. You're beyond awesome.
Lovely refresher course from my schools days too long ago to remember when. I gotta check out that PCB place.

3:02 - That diagram told me everything. THANK you!
You can also use a 555 timer IC as a schimitt trigger
what can't you use it for?
XD
555 also contains opamp

superdau good point. The mistake slipped past me, thanks for the reminder.
This is not at all what I thought a schimitt trigger was. Thank you for the information. I need some of these now.
This was a very good explanation of a shmitt trigger. Thank you.
Thank you Sir you make the best tutorials!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for making a video on schmitt trigger, two days after i gave up on my project involving these xP
I didn't understand anything in this video... Loved it!
thank you very much mr scott your videos are amazing
Ya ....he's back with pure electronics.....
WOW! Schmitt triggers are awesome! thanks for the video.

i love your videos you are best electronic channel :)
I wish my professors at university was at least half that good as you at teaching electronics.
Doofenschmitt Trigerrinator?
When i was a kid, something something baloons parents something
Thanks for making a video at this topic! I red an article on it 2 days ago but had no clue how it works. Keep the niveaful content up 👍
Thanks for the feedback :-)

Very well done though. Thank You
I know it's completely off-topic, but I realy like Your handwriting :D
This little thingy helped me get rid of 100 lines of code from my Arduino project :D
Sweet!
Yes, if you are using code to debounce your switches.
I'll be using it to debounce some variable resistors (those flexible resistors)
Plz do a vid about MOV's metal oxide varistors, I can't find much solid info on them, you seem like a pretty reputable source so your video will probably get first at the top of the search results.
cool video! I use hex inverting schmitt triggers for my synthesizers / electrical instruments
You should make a synth. Maybe a simple one from music from out space
Hey I have a question, maybe in the next video you would like to talk about how to connect and handle the gyroscope for ardruino , ;)
For debouncing and protection and some other details simply use the MAX6816.
How convenient, I just salvaged a Schmitt trigger IC.
i did enjoy the video, very good explained thanks!
Very interesting. Thank you.
BTW, I like that ad. It reminds me I want to get into pcb design again and try to get my first pcb design printed.
Thanks
Can you do video about I2C protocol?
Great job.
Another awesome video 👍

What is the name of CRO used in this video? This CRO was very precise and advanced
Perfect as always :)

About a volt
Please Publish some Op Amp related tutorials. Thanks for the nice video
and most synthes uses them as the thing that creates the tone which gets fed into a binary counter to sequence.
Make videos on iot projects because they are famous in this tins
very good
Can you make a video about shift registers?

Is there any kind of electronic project which Scott does not do?
As a male 27 year old, computer nerd and DIY fan I can say 1 thing about your videos: Im 97% lost when watching them xD
Still love them though :D
You should do more Raspberry Pi (or other single-board computer) projects.
@Great Scott, I would like to know where and what you studiet?
Could you please put a link to your OpAmp-Video into the description?
Done
Can the Schimitt trigger be used to clean noisy gyro on Flight controllers?

Watch my video about triacs
GreatScott! Thank you very much. Do you by any chance know if you can buy such a circuit you made?
Could that be able to work in ESC's???
You can much more easily software debounce in the microcontroller if you're going that route already.
