Hey all! This was a very enjoyable game, and one that I would classify as a hidden gem of sorts. Not a game you would expect to be really fun, but it almost gave me Super Mario Strikers kind of vibes. It's REALLY fast paced, really goofy, and really fun. it is hard to get a hang of the pacing at first, but once you do, it becomes a really great sports type video game. I played the tournament mode which showcases each court and each character. I tried to get as much wackiness in without overdoing it and still keeping it about the B-Ball! I played as Marvin the Martian since he is my favorite and I love going for those three pointers. This is a great game to grab a friend and play when you don't know what to play. You can customize the difficulty and each aspect of the game too which is a nice touch. Overall, I'd recommend it even if you aren't a huge fan of sports games. And if you're like me, and you'd rather play as ACME characters than NBA players, it's a good fit. Hope you enjoy!
That's the thing that people forget - in the '90s, Looney Tunes were sort of unofficial mascots for the NBA. It was the Nike Hare Jordan commercials that started it, but we also had t-shirts, trading cards, McDonald's promotions, and video games like this. Space Jam was just the natural progression of this kind of merchandising blitz - after you've permeated the market this thoroughly, what else is there to do but make a movie? But nowadays, everything that set the stage for Space Jam has been largely forgotten. So now the movie is seen as an inexplicable anomaly, a crazy climax divorced from everything that gave it context. But in 1996? We were like "Oh, sure, why wouldn't this happen?" 😆
A buddy of mine has an arcade cabinet that he moded. Has all kinds of games on it. This is one of them. We played this a cpl days ago. I hadn't played it in years and it was an awesome dose of nostalgia. Ended up being a 190-189 game. Needless to say the defense was pretty terrible. However it was a good game to us and the most fun I've had playing a basketball game in a long time.
