I had great success as a small dude using hook shots in the paint too. Just enter post (left trigger) and put right stick up right or up left depending on which hand you want to use.

i would say, if the paint is clear. then go for it. but if there is a center waiting, then do a dribble pull up after you get past the defender. It would be a better shot, than going up against a shot blocker. unless you have a slasher with high contact dunks. badges to help: Slithery and contact dunk and acrobat
I have an 88 overall paint beast with elite athleticism and dunking and I'm rn playing the Milwaukee bucks with Giannis guarding me. I have no problem soft finish animations with some times but when I have the lane and cant finish strong and I'm watching the bucks have a pre game dunk contest on my team. I scream bullshit. Even having a point sitting under the basket makes that soft finish animation appear.

Or depending the situation, if an elite defenders on you. you wont be able to dunk. And make sure to use the Turbo when Dunking, but don't spam it all game.
