Your Dad & your Granddad and all the way back must be so proud of you Danny! You're living proof that we need to know how to DO things and to know the reason why something needs to be one way or another. (Like the pole's fulcrum affecting the ball bearings) it's all well and good "Google-ing it" but it's not a replacement for hands-on experience! Outstanding!! 👏👏
My goodness. That's some purrrty music. The sounds in this video just spell Lullaby baby after a hard days work. See you before the sun, somewhere on the trail, for some campfire coffee. Life is indeed sweet.
Though it is not a gin pole setup video I am looking for, but it is great. I especially like how you use the chainsaw to flatten a small part of log as needed to a practical accuracy.
Well, that's a first for me. Cutting down a tree with a vacuum cleaner! Haha! The battery technology and the tools they power sure have come a long way. I have about 7 or 8 Dewalt 20v tools in the truck all the time, including a big impact for changing tires in record time. I've helped stranded motorists way more than I've had to change my own; that's a blessing in itself. I have bigger/badder chainsaws, but in an emergency, all I need is a battery. No gas or oil, no fouled plug or broken recoil. That's pretty handy when there's a tree down across the road and the "big tools" are at home in the barn. There's a charger hooked up in the truck all the time with a 2nd battery, so "fuel" is never a problem. Neither are "cold starts"!
My Dad was a sleeper cutter and the best logsman around He could axe out a railway sleeper by hand Here in Australia Same issues Termites etc etc etc But the Lord will give Yu plenty from your harvest You always prove that Danny xx👍
Where's the blacksmith and the cobbler? The grainmill and the chapel? The farmer's hayride, veggies straight out the ground (No soap powder required)? Where's the wood shed, where manners were taught, and penny bubble gum After you've done your chores? I'm gonna keep watching this video Reminiscing Enjoying the simplicity of life And the strength and good courage That makes it possible. This is one of the best evern Thanks Danny and Wanda.
Electric saws are great. I discovered them after a shoulder replacement and my gassers now sit mothballed for emergencies but I've never needed them. Cordless are terrific for limbing, and I've got enough fuel systems to maintain without adding more.
My dad told me with a pole you can move the world we were out in the woods and got stuck and no Jack no chains and but we had a chainsaw and we got a pole got a block and we lifted truck up put wood underneath the tires and drove away there's many many uses for Poles it's all on the can do it Spirit you say you can't you're right you can't if you say you can you can it's all in the way you look at it thank you for sharing and you have a blessed day
Awesome; I am so proud for you and I pray the lord will open the door for us to get one of those old cane mills. I love how you got it set up super sturdy. I can imagine how much work it took to get it like that and I know you enjoy it all the more for it. I enjoy watching you enjoy it even replacing the pole every so often as that is how it was designed to be repairable unlike the stuff made today
Great work Mr. Danny. Not just the chain saw but that tractor is worth every penny spent on it haha. Time to get to juicing some sugar cane. You and Ms Wanda have wonderful blessed day.
This is so cool to watch !!! This is the kind of videos that I love ! Educational ! Knowledge ! Thank you Mr. Danny ! This is just awesome to learn and watch ! I appreciate this video a lot.
And the cool thing is that You act like all of that work and knowledge was no big deal! Just took it in stride like a day at the office! Awesome job! Wanda must have nerves of steel! God bless you both!
For those of you who are young or city folk That means hand cutting down a tree Hand hewing a log No chainsaw No swing saw No electricsaw Pure eye and hand driven craftsmanship Which Danny speaks of regularly
Excellent use of natural material, you are a perfectionist extraordinaire. I'm stuck in bed again today, but I'm glad to see someone is still working. Fantastic job, I can only imagine the artistic work you'd produce using a lathe ...
@@DeepSouthHomestead Thank you, I'm a hot mess of sickness and I'm hoping to get back to preaching and counseling if my voice ever comes back. Don't forget the lessons on good chainsaw safety practices. No project is worth getting injured over. Whatever your perceived skill level you should be treating your chainsaw with respect by using Chaps and Helmut/faceguard. It's a good investment just like your rollbar on your tractor.
Yvonne Fitts So now men who ride motorcycles and have tattoos are nasty.Danny i guess you need to cut your hair to the appropriate length and wear a tuxedo so you will look presentable for your next video.
Well, we finally found a tree in the forest and cut in down. Brilliant!!

Wow! You are so smart, Danny! I didn’t even know there was a balancing point in a log, much less how to find it!

Lookin' through the woods, to see what I'm looking for.
Well there's a sermon in Truth.
Danny, could you paint it with flex seal so bugs would never get in?
I would strip the bark off the whole log. Rot and insect damage well take place between the bark and the wood
I will as soon as we get finished making cane syrup.
Finer than frog hair.
If not I'd go to cedar If possible
Am I the only one that hears the blacksmith in his genius?
Danny how’d you know. The balancing point.? A dumb question I am sure but I just wondered. Thanks Lorie🌤
Just experience.

Is there a reason you are using This primitive tool? There are a lot more simpler tools out there to crush cane.
Ive had this mill for over 25 years and it works fine. Plus we try to keep tradition going from the old ways.
Danny, can you get your shoulder fixed? Or a personal decision not to? Good video as always. 🦋💜
My shoulder was broke many years ago. One shoulder is one inch lower than the other shoulder after surgery. It is the way they put me back together.
Deep South Homestead “It is what it is” in your words 🙂 Thank you so much for responding, I know how busy you are. 🦋💜
Is that a Goldens’ cane mill?
Yes
@@DeepSouthHomestead I used to work for Goldens’ Foundy and know about their cane mills.
I want one of those chain saws. Where do I get it?

that's not a gin pole
I don't like long hair on a man...makes him look unkempt...... Isn't it hot? and in your way??
everyone is entitled to there opinion and thats ok. No its not hot and its not in my way.
Yvonne Fitts I guess all Native American men look unkept??
Elric Howard no but he looks as tho he belongs on a dirty motorcycle and covered in tattos....

You are labeling people. Danny has NO tatoos and doesn't own a motorcycle. Just a country boy trying to survive
