Nice job. Things happen when out in the field. I get it, I helped with my 14yr old son's hunt this year and the the shot was very well placed after a few attempts with wind, yd, etc. A lot of factors go into the heat of the moment. The bull died, period. Nice job.. Great pre-season shots and awesome sound with the bugles. Congrats
It was a bad shot. And I understand it happens. What might be more appealing would be to graciously admit it could have been better rather than be defensive about it. Can anyone that's commented about it being a bad shot do any better? Maybe, maybe not. But it doesn't make it less true. And honestly, the worst part about it is the apparent gauging of talent by who has UA-cam videos posted. That's a piss poor argument for an outdoorsman. I'm not trying to bash, please don't take it that way. All of us who get out into God's country for the experience and putting venison in the freezer are on the same team. I'm just trying to help. A simple "wish the shot could have been better" would go a long way, instead of the defensiveness. Either way thank you for posting the video. Beautiful country, and very nice bull!
Still a good bull despite the broken/non points. I have 18 points for UT elk and am hoping to draw some day.....I will probably have to hire a guide though.
i-VideoWildlife KellyCox Sorry if that came off douchey! I love your videos and after being gone with the military the last 22 years and missing numerous hunting seasons in my great home of Utah I live vicariously through you guys. Keep up the awesome work guys. I’ll have you know that a bunch of Special Operators sitting in a hole in Afghanistan have killed a lot of time watching your videos. We salute you and I’ll see you on the mountain next fall......hopefully.
Instagram would have been a better place to show a couple still photos. Shit happens in the field. I suspect it was a very far shot. Glad he was found, but some videos are better left unpublished for the public to see.
All these keyboard heros and critics haha... he shot and killed it end of story. Hunting isnt always pretty but the IVW films are. Respect for a nice bull a damn fine bull. Killer Video Kel. Keep em coming brother.
Actually it's easy to see you hit it right on top of the back and paralyzed the back end. When he gets to the bottom you can see him drag his hind quarters. Nothing you could do about it. Never had time for a clear second shot.
This video just goes to show Utahs rugged, steep, mean terrain. If you wanna come hunt here, you better be fit. Cause our elk don't stand by the road. You work for them.
Awesome footage, as usual. Keep 'em coming. I cringed when I first saw the shot, but after reading your comments, it sounds like it did the job quick enough. Do you mind me asking the yardage?
I appreciate the fact you read through the comments, I actually hesitated putting this video up because of the shot and the tumble, I honestly finally decided to post it up, I get we as hunters need to keep a clean image, but sometimes reality is ok, especially when it ultimately ended just fine, meat and antlers were just fine.
If that result is just fine, you and I disagree on what constitutes a clean kill. A clean kill is the only acceptable result. That was not. No I'm not a keyboard warrior, yes I've made poor shots leading to lost animals or slow kills. While it does happen it is not an acceptable result.
@@bowhunterd2515 ummmm....he never said is was clean. He just said it's reality some times in hunting and I agree. There are so many variables in hunting that can make even the best shot go not as planned. You should know that Mr bow hunter. Yes ideally it would be great if every animal shot was dropped dead in its tracks. In reality, many animals, even if perfectly shot, take a little while to expire. Especially bowhunting! If you can't handle those realities then maybe hunting is not for you. Just saying.
@@muskycoop if you read my statement you would have seen where I said it happens, and has happened to me and will happen again I'm sure. I just don't like when it happens and someone says oh well, shit happens, the animal died a miserable death but whatever. Which is the impression given here. I personally wouldn't be proud of this display.
Riley Jarrett got a little butt hurt! Even the spotter cringed when he spined that bull in the rear hips. Spotters exact words on film “put another one in, your gonna want to hit him again”

ThistleDewOutdoors Hahaha well because I was there and we put the antlers downward but his pack couldn’t keep them off the ground so we ended up packing them upwards. Thanks for your concern

dparks68 thanks for watching & good luck in the draw! If you need help with a guide I am part owner of Utah Big Game Outfitters
@@ivideowildlifeTV I will, thanks! Hopefully I can draw in the next 5 years or so.
Gotta give you credit for having the balls for posting a video like this and not disabling the comments. Can't say I'd have done the same.
Very nice bull

Awesome video from you guys once again! Terrible shot, great video.

Nice video, love the sounds. That dust storm when the bull fell tell us about our lack of water this summer and fall.
deerlover sheridan did you watch him searching for good feed the night before the hunt when I first glassed him up? Super dry year!
Great bull and great video. That’s some beautiful country even if it was extra dry this year.

Did that stomach shot do it in or did it take another?
M-TAF shot actually got liver with the steep angle and the bull died right after the fall
Where can I get one of those slow motion bullets???

Only sad thing about the whole deal, its heartbreaking how pretty this country was before the beetles ravaged it.

Hopefully you guys have practiced shooting a bit in real conditions after this yikes
