    You don't need to restart home assistant when you change the name or delete it. Just press the visit button in esphome, then delete it. After that go to integrations and add esphome. It will then ask for an address, and there you just paste the url in for the device, which you got from the visit button.

      I was struggling with two things 1) when I moved the plug to a defferent node it my WiFi mesh it could not seem to connect to the SSid, so I re-paired in the correct location, 2) I needed a bit more patience for it he be discovered in HA and ESPHome - I think 2-3 min

    • @3ATIVE

      No, it's GPIO5. However, You don't need to use that. It comes pre-Flashed with ESPHome. So, once "Adopted" you can just OTA your new code.

    Can you use these plugs with high powered inductive loads such as a tubledryer. Tia

    • @3ATIVE
      @3ATIVE  2 роки тому +1

      Inductive loads are always a problem for Relay based switching. The massive initial currents can cause arcing across the contacts.
      However, as a smart plug would not be switching the motor directly (in a tumble-dryer) it's less of an issue here.
      I would be concerned about running such a high load from one of these, while their relay is rated (labelled) as 16A, I wouldn't be comfortable loading it higher than 8 to 10 MAX.

  • @zyghom
    @zyghom Рік тому +1

    I tend to keep the entity names always not related to where the plug is because when you move the plug to somewhere else, all automations have to be redone, unless I don't know how to deal with that

    my 4 V2 Athom plugs can be adopted in the esphome interface but my V1's dont appear any ideas? They all work fine in HA just some of my V1s need the YAML updating I think as I seem to only have the total daily energy readings missing the non-daily energy readings I have in the V2s

    I have 3 of these V2's currently - After the intial discovery and input of SSID and Password, they have all disappeared into the ether - can anyone advise me how to find them?

    • @3ATIVE
      @3ATIVE  Рік тому

      Home Assistant & ESPHome should have Discovered and Adopted them respectively.
      1. Make sure discovery: is enabled in your config.yaml... Or you have a default_config:
      2. Ensure you're on the latest ESPHome version.
      Finally, are you sure the Wi-Fi password is correct? - To reset the plugs, hold it's side-button, for more than 4-5 Seconds and try inputting SSID & Password from scratch.
