I told the manager at my LCS a few years ago, that i really appreciated the service and personal/friendly interactions they had with the customers. That person said the same thing Bryan said here "we want people to come in, so we want them to want to come in. otherwise, they have no reason not to buy online". If the shop is friendly, customer service is made a priority, AND creates events or reasons to be a "destination", they will be ok.
Not that you need to line up a guest every show but when you do have an opening you could always bring on someone like red hood. Im sure alot of us would like to hear his backstory of getting into comics and pressing etc and most importantly, he's one who has genuine personality which i believe alot of people appreciate. Just an idea. For the record both walmarts in my area have hand baskets. I use them all the time. But there are 20 times or more carts.
Running a brick-and-mortar LCS (local convenience store) is increasingly challenging. The return on investment diminishes over time, and many LCSs are caught in a slow decline. These challenges persist regardless of the current economic conditions, including recession and inflation. Sadly, many brick-and-mortar stores will not survive these tough times.
Customer service is huge. My LCS is not very friendly, they aren’t rude, but don’t make any effort to engage. It’s like pulling teeth to get them in a conversation. I spend $50+ a week, and I’m considering just ordering online and saving gas money.
I feel like you're missing out on a bigger conversation by not having a regular retailer that does sale new comics on a regular basis. You need someone like glenn from Comic Palace on. Not just these two over and over again.
eBay lets sellers be as disrespectful as they want. The seller plastic memories can cancel orders if he thinks you are not good enough, for example, while he lies and says he is not a flipper but he knows all about variants. Seller gives you a refund and your low rating review is removed.
Livestreaming is as "face to face interaction" as a lap dance, it is one-sided, and you are not able to touch and what you say does not matter its ignored, you matter the fleeting moment as long as you give money -that is livestreaming, gimme a break, yt is one-sided af lol...

Why "the comic book store"? Conglomerates that own this fake country are the antithesis to brick and mortar basically, since there is more ROI from data-mining login account activity, for predictive analytics for influencing our spending and saving.
