Hi, great video thankyou. I dont suppose you could share your M50, P and t settings, I am struggling a bit with overshooting on warm up ! thank you
Great video very well explained. I see you touched on the alarm section a little bit, however, I like to add an alarm buzzer so when it reaches the set temp. prehards you can explained how to in the near future. Thank you for posting.
I have them wired on my own CP, George at Barley and hops channel has a few videos worth watching
Great video! Appreciate the help. My K thermocouple is stuck reading .1 what do you reckon i have done wrong?
Check your menu settings are set for K type probe
Well explained thanks, subbed, i just bought the last one of these kits off Amazon.
Thanks
Hi, I have wired my PID as per your instructions and then onto the SSR, I have a little red light on the SSR indicating power to it. The last two terminals on the SSR have gone straight to my heating element. The heating element does not warm up at all.
Difficult to advise without being able to see how you`ve wired it Fotek ssr are notorious for being faked and have issues if thats what your using
I bought the kit and I am proposing to use it to power a silicone heating blanket with a 1KW rating. I have set the controller to 30C and powered on, the blankets peaks around 50C and then starts to drop but it never gets below 41C before the relay kicks in again and sends the temperature up towards 50C again. I am thinking there is some calibration to do on the controller, I have not read the instructions fully as they are a very poor translation into English. BTW I followed Johnn'y Reloading Bench video to complete the wiring and added some inline fuses.
Barley and hops brewing have some settings videos on pids
Great video, thanks for this! I’ve got my device all wired up, but it reads my room temperature at anything between -42C and +5C. Any idea why the temperature is so inaccurate and varying so widely? I’ve tried three different type K probes, and I’ll have the same issue.
Have you gone into the menu at SN and set it for 0 = K type
@@norfolkhillbilly I do - gone through all the various setting options multiple times…
@@tristanwatson499 If it`s a two wire probe try connecting to terminals 3 and 4 and a bridging wire across 5 and 4
Why is your screen jumping so much? Mine is steady and doesn't fluctuate like yours is.
It`s do do with frame rate of the video, LED lighting can cause the same issue, nothing to do with the unit.
@@norfolkhillbilly, thanks for the prompt answer. I'm finding your videos absolutely educational. I appreciate what you're doing here, my friend! You've helped me immensely!
What size fuse is recommended to protect the Controller. Many thanks in advance
The current is just under 500ma at 120v 300ma if 220v
Question about the alarm, the buzzer will be connected to pin #11? Basically is no instructions with the unit and Im running 240v (2 hots 1 ground) and you are the only one explaining where to connect the alarm. I would like the alarm (buzzer) to go off when the temperature I set was reached.
Hi, you need to go into the settings and find the alm H which is the temperature menu, I`ve not had any time to proceed with more videos on a build or use the controller, But take a look, if you haven`t already at George at Barley and Hops, channel, He has some great vidoes on the Inkbird pid`s
Hi can you tell me what goes into the 1 and 2 terminals is that the line and neutral for the heater. If so which is line and which is neutral.?
Thanks
If you are referring to the connections on the SSr 1 and 2 are the live in and out to what ever your powering
Can these be used for cooling as well? Thanks
I believe so, though for cooling i use stc 1000 or inkbird 306 with wifi control
Thanks for a very informative video, with your help I have just put together a Controller using the Inkbird 100 vh. Ive had a problem though, after connecting a PT 100 probe to it as per the manual using the 3 connections 1 red and 2 blue it read 650 degrees when the air temp was 15, so i substituted a K type with just the 2 connections and it read the air temp perfect. Does this mean the probe is faulty, or do I need to go into the Ink birds settings and change from K type to something else
many thanks in advance
Hi, Thanks, yes you need to select the type of probe in the menu selection. SN on the menu 21 for a pt100
@@norfolkhillbilly Thats sorted it many thanks
What gauge wire did you use and does the amperage of the connecting devices dictate the gauge of wire used?
I believe it was 1.00mm sq for the pid connections , and yes the appropriate rated ssr and cable to match your load
Hello!
I need an advice please..
My mash tank have 2 heating elements 4kw each one.
May i manage 2 of them by one controller?
I need to connect 2 ssr in paralel mode, right?
Or it's better to buy i ssr 40 o 60a and connect 2 heating elements with 1 ssr?
And the next question... Ssr 20a will be enough to manage 4kw heater or better to place 40a to avoid overload?
Thank you!!
At 220v with 4kw your running just over 18 amps, Knowing that some ssr are of dubious quality I would run a 40amp in place of a 20. you can get 80 and 100amp ones and run both heaters on one ssr.
@@norfolkhillbilly tgank you man!
And next question... I have 2 fase electricity to run my heater... South America..
If I'll install 3 fase relay buy use just 2 fase inputs, will run?, in theory yes 🤣
@@Kwaaass I would say so, it`s still operating the 3 but you`ll just be using 2.
@@norfolkhillbilly thank you !!!
one more question... Instead of SSR , may i use contactor with control input 24-220v AC ? or in this case in need a RH version of controller ?
Yes you would need the other version, But I don't know if they have enough power for a contactor, also the switching frequency could well burn out a contactor quickly.
Well explained but you keep crossing over RTD and thermocouole technologies.
Can anyone tell me if there is a countdown timer on these with a cutoff switch?
Not built into the PID there is a IDT-E2RH Digital Timer, you`ll see one on my HERMS control panel video
@@norfolkhillbilly thank you, I will take a look
@@norfolkhillbilly I was hoping Inkbird would have something similar to an auger swa-2451 pid temperature controller where it’s an all in one unit
ITC-100vh is a replacement for an FT803-gqn-bd?
Should be, plus inkbird has alarm output
Silly question but I have to ask it, while the temperature is below 50C there is power coming from the other side of the relay and when it reaches 50C the power to the relay stops, is that correct?
If you had it set for 50c there would be no power going to energise the relay, only the supply up to terminal 1 or 2 depending on your connection, When it reached set temp, pins 4 and 5 would have current going to them allowing pins 1 and 2 to complete a circuit to your load.
@@norfolkhillbilly Can it work in reverse so there is power to the output side of there relay and when the thermocouple reaches 50C the power switches off. To put my question to context, the output would be to a heating blanket and when the blanket reaches 50C the power would cease?
@@pluckerpick yes you can change heating and cooling in the menu so it will work in reverse
@@norfolkhillbilly Thanks, I have ordered the kit, I'll need to change the thermocouple as I need a thinner option, RS components have a K type that is good for 300c , I assume there are instructions with the kit that explains how to set heating and cooling ?
@@pluckerpick yes also a download from there web site
Nicely explained Clive, what size are the fork connectors and where do you get them from??
Cheers
packs of 100 at toolstation 1.5mm red blues are 2.5mm less than £3
Awesome video
The usa code isnt working for me. Anybody else have any luck?
