This is one of my all time favorite NES games, and probably a huge reason why I still love Beat 'em Ups to this day. Even the EX version on Gameboy Advance was a nice, repolished version of the original. I also became online buds with the lady who did the music for River City Girls (Megan McDuffee)!
River City Ransom is easily on my top 5 retro games. The speedrun for it is also great fun. Thanks a ton for shedding some light and love on this, often, slept-on series. Keep up the great work!
I first learned the concept of grinding and farming from River City Ransom! Don't think we called it grinding or farming or buffing back then though...it was just called playing the game!
Happy little games . . . . . . . subbed to the sister channel on day one PatmanQC, now I just need to get in the habit of clicking over after every new main channel video.
Bimmy and Timmy. Judging from the names of the characters, the creators of the movie Hobo with a Shotgun were fans of this game. Field Day came with one of those sketchy bootleg NES multicarts you get from China. My roommate and I had no idea what was going on or how we were supposed to play it, but we sure laughed our asses off trying to figure it out. I totally missed out on this series as a kid, except for Renegade, but back then had no idea it was a part of something bigger.
Youre right, this is one of the games my mother actually played with me. Dad played everything with me so when mom played it was special.... we could get up to the high school but couldn't figure out how to open it.... later in life i realized i was missing one of the bosses.
River City Random is such a classic! I was too young to play it effectively and beat it back in 1988. My daughter and i have River City Girls and we love it. It too will be a future classic💪

Hey, Patman. Did you previously make a video about the hype of laserdisk games? I know there was Dragon's Lair and Space Ace games, but what about all the other laser disc games that were made? Especially some of the anime stuff. The current anime fans might find that interesting too. Thank you!

Amazing game for the time. The cartoony graphics are great.
