She had the best time after she crosses the finishing line and looked back at the streif. She smiled, was happy and proud of herself. Congrats Lindsay. Thank you for your fantastic performance over the years.

I was thinking the same thing... I've done a fair bit of local amateur racing at half the speed at night, which sucks... I really would be intrigued to hear if this was a consideration or if at that level, the night was more gimmick than risk

Wow, amazing! That's insane! She never raced the Streif (as far as I know), then she does it in the dark?!?! Huge respect. This is a nice, epic run. However, they should have let her do it on race day as well. She deserves a real run, not just for the show. I bet she would do great. I hope they let her one day at least do one of those on-board camera runs before a race. Though I'd prefer to see her full speed, no compromise (don't get me wrong, she still sent it, but I guess not 100%). The tears at the end, so touching. Like "I've finally done it". Still, I'd love to see her on race day.
My all time favourite female skier.,I met her on two occasions in Bansko amazing competitor and great person! We are gonna miss you Lindsay!!!
Still the best downhill skier !! Alone on that slope with so many dark almost blind spots. She's the queen of downhill.

The only woman who could maybe run her close is Katja Seizinger. But I think she is still the best. I still remember her and Julia Mancuso coming up through the ranks as very young racers.
I have skied that pitch when it was well groomed and soft snow. TV doesn't do justice to how steep parts of it are. This was an amazing feat. History making. Now, "come on guys, step up."

Considering how far you're skiing "past what you can see" - and the fact that your legs and feet just have to react without a lot of planning benefit from your mind? Maybe skiing it at night isn't that much more dangerous than skiing it at speed during the day?

Very emotional to watch that - quite a spectacle. I'm assuming that was one run & not a composite of a number of runs. Either way you can still see the forces at work on her body - she's obviously still very fit just to be able to deal with those forces. It was so dark that parts of it looked impossible - really added to the intensity.
I saw the video on Red Bull TV where it looked like she stopped in the middle of a run. I am curious to know if she did it nonstop. In either case, it was epic.

Shiffrin may be the best technical skier in the world but Vonn has the most grit and determination of any skier. Everyone thinks Goggia is the bad ass, but Lindsey has much more determination than Goggia. Being able to come back from so many injuries separates Vonn from any male or female skier.

She said before that she's in pain all the time now. All that cartilage has been removed.
She said that since she's due for another knee operation anyway, that she might as well do this. Even if she hurt herself, she was going to get knee surgery soon anyway. An example of elite athlete mindset.

Downhill skiers are crazy but to do that course IN THE DARK is beyond crazy and I don’t count those “nightlights” as much help. Much respect to Vonn, amazing. I would be scared to do that in the day. Or even walk down that

1. She always wanted to compete against male skiers.....2. no any woman skier ever did downhill in Kitzbühel-most dangerous track in alpine skiing...3. she has always been great competitor and this was challenge she wanted to do while she still can

watch Mikaela, probably the best ski racer ever in terms of technique. She broke Lindsay's world cup wins record yesterday, and extended that lead today. She's still only 27. Incredible!!

I knew someone was going to say this. Her top speed was 60 mph, the men usually go more than 90 mph. Of course, she's been retired for 4 years, needs knee surgery, and it was at night.

No, MS is soon to be the GOAT of all men and women , period. I don't think its coincidence that this was timed right when LV's record was surpassed, purely a media stunt to attempt in stealing MS spotlight. Nobody remembers who got second. Its a pointless run ,with no time to show, many skiers men and women could just ski down the course without a competitive time. Notice how its not a full non- stop run? All smoke and mirrors. LV never liked MS and this is just a petty continuance.
