- Watch the Open Pro Final at the 2022 Lancaster Archery Classic where Gijs Broeksma, Michele Frangilli, Nicholas D'Amour, and Jack Williams compete for the title. The target distance is 18 meters.
Michele is a super nice guy and a legend in the sport. Gijs's Triple Trouble Archery channel is one of the best online resources for archery. His only disadvantage is that there are so many other great Dutch archers (most of whom are his friends, such as Wijler in the coaching box). All four of them are Olympians. Great finals.
I really appreciate how the commentator's explain the competition and archery equipment...thanks for that.

The 12 is a tricky one for a recurve. A lot of our aiming is passive and relies upon lining up concentric rings
Congratulations to all of the archers that performed in the finals...Gillo is very impressive and will be my next riser : )
Fantastic shooting.
Exciting finish!
frangilli still on top archery. A real heretic legend of archery!
Archery is soooo fun
Has anyone interest on Michele lips routine before shooting. Maybe that's why he shoots very well 😁👍
So nice shoot
The announcer is not required in between ends. Is this an attempt to make better viewing for the audience @Lancaster?
It is their tournament and they make the rules. They are unique ;).
@@-fazik-3713 unique does not always mean good
If you insist on pestering the competitors between ends, at least have a professional do it🤦♀️
The commentator makes me cringe..
Which one?
Hopefully not Greg White he speaks for numerous different sports!!!!
These modern bows look so disgusting xD
Imo a bow should have two parts: The bow itself, and the string.
Maybe im just a romantic for traditional bows :)
yeah, lets not evolve. I supose you will go to work in horse instead of a car.
@@davidjosemoreno6435 Haha i would if i could. But seriously, if you got stabelizers, a thingy that clicks to let you know you are at full draw, a release with a trigger strapped to your wrist, you might aswell shoot crossbow instead of turning yourself and your bow into a human crossbow. Its just not real archery anymore ;P
@@davidjosemoreno6435 Worst part are sights tho. Sights on a bow, common, you might aswell tape a laserpointer to your cue stick oO
No part of the bow executes any of the shot for you. The equipment rules are written so that none of the equipment takes the shot away from the archer. There's nothing wrong with enjoying traditional archery, it appeals to many people for good reasons. If you don't like watching freestyle recurve, that's totally fine.
But it's worth noting that archery isn't about aiming; it's about form, and improving the consistency of the equipment means the competition can be about who has the best, most consistent shot process. The sight doesn't tell you where to aim; you have to move the sight to a place where it can help you. To go with your pool cue analogy, having a laser pointer tell you where you're pointing your cue isn't going to help you to plan the perfect shot, or to control the cue so that it actually hits where you are pointing it. In the same way, a sight on your bow doesn't do anything to make the arrow go where you are aiming it.
@@adriandemark3958 I get all of that, sort off. But this is called archery classic, and there is nothing classic about it whatsoever. Theres nothing about a traditional bow that prevents you from shooting just as good, only its a lot harder. You know, having to hold the thing without messing up the shot via your grip, instead of shooting from an open hand having the thing tied to your bow hand so it doesnt fall down afterwards. Having to match the spine of your arrows to your bow instead of having that modern bow window. Aiming with your inner eye instead of sights. And ofc the sight is used for aiming, otherwise why have it? Traditional archery is where you don't aim, infact you cant, specially with english longbows and such where you draw the arrow past your ear instead of kissing the string. Thats all about consistency, form and focus. All these technical helper pieces here only exist because they make it easier and because they can. Ofc they shoot better with it, wich is why everybody has them, but its not about equipment consitency, its about having to put in less effort and consistency yourself and letting your equipment do part of the work.
How far is the target?
