    5:14 RoPS - Rovaniemen Palloseura plays there. Street view image seems to be from time of 2019-2020 UEFA Europa League 1st qualifying round on Jul 18 2019. Aberdeen did won that match 1-2. And also won their home game 2-1 week earlier (11 Jul 2019).

    Kotka is known from the paper and heavy imdustry. Today it's town of parks, as you saw one, sibeliuksenpuisto. My hometown, for 51 years now. I live abou 1,5km's from that place. Nice to see Kotka here.

    Helsinki Olympics were in 1952. Someone who was 10 years old at that time and might have been in audience is now only about 80 years old. Not impossible that they could play this or something else.

      @gozamite Місяць тому

      @@alloverthemap23 It's possible. But mostly you see those near the Russian border.

    The circular building in Hakaniemi, Helsinki is called "Ympyrätalo" 'circular building'. It was built originally in 1968 for a bank. Now it's owned by an "earnings-related pension insurance company" Ilmarinen. There are several businesses as shown on Google Maps.
    Crusellinsilta is named after Bernhard Henrik Crusell, a Finnish clarinetist (1775 - 1838).
    Fourth round: The building seen first is the tram depot in Töölö. The olympic games were in Helsinki in 1952. They were supposed to happen already in 1940 but then the war came.
    Kotka, fifth round: "Rajavartiolaitos" is 'Finnish Board Guard'. That vehicle thus belongs to them. Also the sea borders are under the vigilance of Rajavartiolaitos. Then there was a street "Ruotsinsalmenkatu", meaning 'Ruotsinsalmi street'. "Ruotsinsalmi" is a strait in the sea near Kotka; its name means 'Swedish strait'. There were two naval battles between Swedish and Russian forces in 1788 and 1790 in Ruotsinsalmi. The battles are known in English by their Swedish name "battles of Svensksund". They were a part of the Russo-Swedish war 1788 - 1790.
    Sibeliuksenpuisto was named after the composer Jean Sibelius, naturally. That happened when Sibelius turned 90 years old, in 1956. The surname is in a genitive form in the name of the park, as is usual, and it changed a little when adding the genitive suffix "-n", as is common.
    As for maps, I have currently no Finland maps in Geoguessr that you have not played. If you want something else, please consider "Multilingual Europe"; 298 locations and 43 languages are included. - From Finland, the map "Hardly and slightly interesting buildings in Finland" has plenty of plays left...

    You played well! I have noticed that in challenges even the zooms and turns are counted as steps. I didn't move on the Helsinki rounds and still the list shows some steps. Interesting.
    My sister lived very near to the 3rd round location until last spring.

    15:30 It's a bank. And yeah, we do have financial advisors but you can also invest on your own. There are all sorts of investment opportunities, though they're mainly (but not exclusively) handled by banks. Everyone who's employed gets part of their pay taken for the state run pension scheme, but many people also save and/or invest money on their own to have a better financial situation once they retire.

    I have seen both myself walking and my parked car on google streetview in central Helsinki. Also, the circular building that you saw in the second round has a huge metal ball out front by the main entrance. When I was a kid, my mom said that I one day would be able to roll it away when I pushed it if I ate enough porridge in the mornings. I have tried pushing it as an adult, but it's not budging 😆

    I've been captured at least twice on Streetview. You were once like 10m from one spot where I may have showed up if the map used the right pics.

    Sailing capital?? I think you could call any coastal city or larger town by the sea or any lake the sailing city 👍

    Fun fact, kotka translates to eagle in english. Not sure if eagles actually had a part in the naming of the city.
