That quick glance under the blanket and inhale through his teeth Farquaad has while he’s staring at Fiona’s portrait in his bed. He’s shirtless and drinking, and holding the blanket in a particularly suggestive way. Dreamworks all but outright said what was going on here! Not only that, but his reaction to what’s under the blanket all but screams how he is indeed “compensating for something!”
You left out my favorite which is the hallucinogenic Smooth Jazz from Trolls World Tour. (Could Aardman give us more history jokes from Fowler in Netflix’s Chicken Run sequel?)
The Madagascar joke went RIGHT over my head, but seems insanely obvious now. I only understood it when my older cousin told me to look at the first letter in each word! 😅
I remember that. I didn't notice it until I was much older. A lot of kids movies from the 2000s and before that were subtle with their jokes compared to now where everything is obvious.
I feel the main difference between Disney movies and DreamWorks is that Disney is solely catered towards kids and being kid friendly with their stories while DreamWorks isn't afraid to tackle mature topics, have original stories, and include lots of jokes for teens and adults.
That’s because as bad as Disney & Pixar tend to get when slipping in jokes only adults can get in their movies, Dreamworks is apparently even worse than them. I have a white manager at my job who can tell you the same thing. Of course, films franchises & standalone films like “Shrek” & “Shark Tale” are unfortunately victims to this reality because of whoever’s been hired to write the scripts to these films each time out.
In the Spanish Version of Madagascar, the replaced it with "Miercoles" meaning Wednesday. With that aside, I did love the adult humor from these movie. Comes to show how animated movies brings both kids and adults together.
They really added blood in Puss in Boots: the last wish. Disney doesn't really do something like that in their movies, but DreamWorks does. DreamWorks sure knows how to add adult themed scenes in kids movies
Well… there were few frames of a bloody wound in some movies like Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, and Tangled. But most of those bloody moments are super brief, unlike Dreamworks movies
The panic attack with the Santa Coloma flashback scene from Puss In Boots: The Last Wish are saddest and heartbreaking moments in the movie.😓😓😓😓😓😓😓😓😓😓 I know how Puss felt that day. Not everyone feels ready to be married. It makes me want to listen to Father and Son by Cat Stevens.
5:02 That’s Wallace’s outfit yes Flushed Away is a DreamWorks movie but it was co-produced with Aardman the studio that gave the world Wallace and Gromit
Like I think DreamWorks or any other Animated Studio Company would get away with swears towards kids. Might sound like he said the F bomb but it’s fart
*So, to keep it short… certain Dreamworks movies are not meant for little kids. Shoot, I still watched them. They were better than most Disney and Nickelodeon movies.*
7:03 Don’t forget the “Darn you all to heck” is later followed up with a sign saying ‘Help’ becoming ‘Hell’ because two of the logs making up the P fell
Since Shrek's "Do you think maybe he's compensating for something?" joke was brought up in the Number 1 pick, I found myself thinking that when seeing the Super Mario Bros. movie for the first time when I saw Toad's ride.
I have three favorite adult jokes: 1) Literal a🍑 kissing (in multiple ways) from Shrek 2) Alex’s “Help” sign from Madagascar 3) Perfectly timed “PICKLES AND EGGS!” from Sinbad Legend of the Seven Seas
It seems like most of the movies that are mentioned are cartoons, and this implies that ALL cartoons are for kids. I actually think that the opposite is true, that they are a mixed bag of children's jokes and adult jokes, so the parents don't feel guilty about taking their kids to see such movies. Outside of that, what about the scene in the movie "Madagascar" when Alex gets shot with the tranquilizer dart, and his reaction to it was accompanied by the song "Candy Man", and the term 'Candy man' being slang for a drug dealer 😮🤣😄⁉️
Another adult reference in the movie "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" is when Kitty Softpaws almost says "bullshit." What happened is that when Puss, Kitty Softpaws, and Perrito were going through the Dark Forest and were using Perrito's version for the path, they came across these flowers that acted hostile. Puss and Kitty tried to fight it, but the plants kept getting more aggressive, and Perrito pointed out that the way to defeat them was to stop and smell the roses. When Puss and Kitty smell the flower they're trapped in Kitty says: "All I smell is bulls-" before Perrito silences her. Even though she didn't finish the word, I could tell what word she was about to say.
Now that i'm grown i can kinda get where Dreamworks was going for with this jokes. So, happy monday afternoon Ms, take care and God bless you, greetings from Colombia to you as well.
One thing I did notice in "Flushed Away" is that when Roddy gets flushed, he grabs onto a huge brown lump. At first the audience is meant to think that it's a lump of crap but when Roddy lets go, it's shown that he actually grabbed hold of a candy bar.
9:23 What you Said Here is so true. I Must Thank all my grandma’s Dogs (alive and dead) for saving her Life. my grandma's "house" is stronger than her heart (so fragile). She sometimes get those panic attackes and i saw her collapse one time, it was so scary. but her gram's always said to her that if you don't have a dog, your going to ☠️ one day because your heart needs one😭😭😭
I have a white manager at my job that easily let me know that Dreamworks is easily worse than Disney & Pixar when slipping in jokes that only adults can get. If you needed evidence to prove that, the answer is unfortunately in film franchises & standalone films like “Shrek” & “Shark Tale”. But none of that will stop me from continuing to watch movies from Disney, Pixar, & Dreamworks, even if I’m an adult now.
I like all my favorite adult-geared moments or moment in a DreamWorks movie or movies on TV or on Hulu or on the DVDs like Kiss My Arrr-tichoke Wallace & Gromit The Curse of the Were-Rabbit and A Different Kind Of Iced Tea The Boss Baby and Jeweled Bra Sinbad Legend of the Seven Seas and Not Just A Garden Tool The Cat in the Hat and Wolverine Costume Flushed Away and White Fish Stereotype Shark Tale and Darn You All To Heck Madagascar and Almost Every Inch The Prince of Egypt and Viagra Shrek 2 and Puss' Panic Attacks Puss In Boots The Last Wish and What's In The Bottle, Kid The Boss Baby and Euphemisms At Their Finest Kung Fu Panda and Incestuous Bees The Bee Movie and Cursing, But Make It PG Madagascar and Lola Shark Tale and The Reason Gobber Never Got Married How to Train Your Dragon 2 and A Joke For The History Buffs Chicken Run and The Cold Hard Truth Captain Underpants The First Epic Movie and Almost Caught The Road to El Dorado and Sarcasm Sounds like Trolls and Frankincense, Myrrh, & Something Else, We're Sure Shrek the Third and Little Farquaad Shrek
I'm sure enough some kids already are aware these adults jokes. I mean, I already know almost about some of these dirty jokes or whatever when I was a kid. Don't get me wrong, I was confused at the time but I still was aware of it because I do often ask my parents around my teens (12 to 16) what do they supposed to mean and my mum and my dad didn't have a choice but to answer because they technically did try to warn me about them before I could possibly understand. Now I understand what's going on, I am perfectly not bothered by it because I still watch my favourite movies and shows and nothing can stop me from watching.

I love everything of DreamWorks. They put some adult jokes and don't disturbed kids at all. Not to mention that they don't care about the political correct thing like Disney. DreamWorks was my beginning, then I liked and defended it until the end.
I’m pretty sure here in Canada the word arse is also common because I’m pretty sure most of the English speaking population has ancestors for those parts of the world and plus Australia and England are part of th western world

Do You think maybe he's compensating for something - Shrek- 2001-2010.
No they’re not
They’re owned by amblin pictures and universal pictures potentially by paramount but not Disney
That quick glance under the blanket and inhale through his teeth Farquaad has while he’s staring at Fiona’s portrait in his bed. He’s shirtless and drinking, and holding the blanket in a particularly suggestive way. Dreamworks all but outright said what was going on here! I remember that. I didn't notice it until I was much older. A lot of kids movies from the 2000s and before that were subtle with their jokes compared to now where everything is obvious.
That was me too. That was so clever and it made me laugh harder at the realisation.
I love how all of these things are just proof that DreamWorks films aren't just for kids, They're for viewers of all ages. Just like Disney movies.
Except for The Boss Baby tho 😂
I feel the main difference between Disney movies and DreamWorks is that Disney is solely catered towards kids and being kid friendly with their stories while DreamWorks isn't afraid to tackle mature topics, have original stories, and include lots of jokes for teens and adults.
Madagascar is a great film. Truly unforgettable, I must say.
Exactly. I love Madagascar. No movie marked my life more but this.
Dreamworks could always pull off adult jokes, gags, and references in their animated films better than Disney or Pixar
It’s really an example that not all PG films ARE for children.🤭
And that's why I love DreamWorks more than Disney or Pixar. DreamWorks marked my childhood.
"I think I had a sarcasm once..."
I just figured that out!!
That’s because as bad as Disney & Pixar tend to get when slipping in jokes only adults can get in their movies, Dreamworks is apparently even worse than them. Chicken Run was a reference to both World Wars, not only in how long it took the United States to enter them, but also the WW1 song Over There.
In the Spanish Version of Madagascar, the replaced it with "Miercoles" meaning Wednesday. With that aside, I did love the adult humor from these movie. Comes to show how animated movies brings both kids and adults together.
“Miercoles” is a substitute word that refers to “Mierda” (shit)
@@cynthiafernandez2372 I know. I figure out when I was younger, but I don't complain.
Looks like Encanto did the same thing
I’m gonna have to say Sugar Honey Ice Tea. I didn’t know it’s an adult joke but I find it hilarious
When I first saw it, I thought it was a phrase, but then when I got older, it became hilarious! I at last understood what it meant.
No way! The best joke in Curse of the Were-Rabbit is: “This was arson! Someone arsin’ around!” 😂😂
I Totally Agree with that!
My favorite was “nun wrestling”.
Can’t forget “Beware the moon!”
They really added blood in Puss in Boots: the last wish. Disney doesn't really do something like that in their movies, but DreamWorks does. DreamWorks sure knows how to add adult themed scenes in kids movies

You can't help but feel sorry for Vanessa's boyfriend. I'd be pretty peeved if my partner up and left me for a freaking BEE, of all things!

@@katieb3059 I’m sure if someone had a fiancé that essentially dumped them for a bee, that would drive them nuts.

Definitely a good idea I noticed some things in chowder
Watching Shrek as a kid and then watching it as an adult was one of the greatest moments ever, finally understanding all those jokes
Same.

I would prefer DreamWorks over the likes of Pixar these days.

Like the "go save my ass" or "compensating for something" jokes
That's why I love the Shrek franchise.
Forgot the joke in puss in boot
Since Shrek's "Do you think maybe he's compensating for something?" joke was brought up in the Number 1 pick, I found myself thinking that when seeing the Super Mario Bros. movie for the first time when I saw Toad's ride.

What do I expect every detail from DreamWorks movies? It certainly wasn’t the idea I looked it as a kid.

How many adults felt stupid after watching Tim throw a Long Island Iced Tea in the garbage? Did Tim even know what was in it?
I don’t know why the panic attack scene was on this list. It’s not a joke.
It was on here because it's things that adults notice that would go over a kids head. Sometimes it's jokes, other times it's just life things
Kids don't understand panic attacks? Since when?
Lord Farquaad's own name is an adult joke.
The cat in the hat movie was definitely something that’s for sure ….
