It is so great to see somebody take the time to fully restore an old classic like this and not Mexicanize the frame by dropping it on the floor and destroying the interior with junk the truck never had when new. It's just a good, solid, beautiful restoration!

Imagine, in 1953 this was just another pickup truck.
Today it's a work of art that you'd never leave out in the rain.
You can be sure that no one will feel this way about a 2021 Dodge pickup in 68 years from now.

I had one in high school (1971-'75) and loved that old truck. So did the hippie chicks for some unknown reason. It was black and had the same 6 banger and 3 on the tree. Low geared as shown here. Got me where I wanted to go for years.

The coolest old Dodge we had was a 57..
318 dual stacks behind the cab Loud and at night you could see flames sometimes it was cool... That was very unique because it had one ton's suspension so D 300 Like utility company special ordered But long wide bed LOL my brother and brother-in-law hauled 2 to 4 tons Of cement and gravel

Fifty more years from now that flathead six and transmission will STILL be running perfectly.

A lot more bling than my old five-window 53. I also had the lower bed and made my own crank for the dampener nut starter. This one looks terrific. And the principles incorporated into the inline flathead are the same as those in my current 1949 KB2!

My first track was 1955 job rated my other Dodge pick up was 53 's a 354 Hemi... Both were fivewindow cab.. There was a book called Truck that came out in the 80s in which the author went through what he did to get a 1950 Dodge pickup running again. I really enjoyed the book.

I think that was a reprint because I read it in 1960. I remember it included road racing and blowng into the carburetor, getting gas in the face...

Great Job. And as you said, memories. My Grandpa had one (dark blue) but it was new then. He built a camper for the back. In '64 he gave it up for a Polara.

I have one if these I am working on right now, this one is the closes one I have found to mine down to the 7 steel slates in a short bed, I was just talking to the parts guy in Mich. and he'd never heard of a 78 in bed with 7. I told him well I got one. and then I just found this, I hope Mine looks this good when I'm done, The only difference I can see in the inside sidewall panels on mine are smooth, I've had this one for 39 years I bought it for $600.00 I couldn't believe it at the time, yes I was the first one to it. when I saw it I said does it run ? He say yeah we use it for the dump every week.

I am also restoring a 1953 B-4-C pickup truck, I found a 1950 B-1-C in Northern Minnesota it was in pretty rough shape but I'm using it for parts. Some of the parts are usable for the 53 and they are interchangeable but I have extra parts that I will be selling if anybody needs anything. I'm glad that you're restoring it to its original and not too many modifications good luck with your project, thanks for the video.

Why call it a D-100? That designation didn’t come around for several more years after this truck was built. This is a B-4-B.
    Great looking truck. Great work!

I have a 1953 dodge pick up. I am starting to febuild it. I have a 1953 desota 276 hemi a 87 3 speed automatic and haves 87 wagoner rear end. I pulled all the original power train out. Now I’m reluctant to install the hew power train. I am still ready to put all tha original power train back in, but I know it won’t be good to drive at the original power train.I am confused.

great restore but 1 error the rear fenders and possibly the bed looks like it was from a newer dodge when the next model i believe 54 or 55 had those fenders the previous models have a rounded ones . i did see that was on the truck when dragged in .

    • @kendelair1521
      @kendelair1521 2 роки тому +1

they made them with both type fenders in 53 I have a 53 with these exact same fenders though I've noticed that some 53's have the rounded fenders.

It has the 1951-52 B-3 wide stainless badge ornament.

Yet they do all the hard work in construction. The only thing that goes wrong is the electronic nonsense that shouldn't be on them in the first place.
