Very nice! Are the brushes you use trash afterwards or can they be cleaned? Thank you for sharing this tutorial.
Beautiful! I have to try this!
Awsome process! Beautiful northern lights 🤩🤩🤩
I went a little too much mica and too straight. Can I use a black or charcoal gray and make more swirls to tone it down a little?
Love this
Thank you so much!
Just curious. Why spray paint the cup instead of using vinyl for the tree lines? Personal preference or does the paint looks better than vinyl?
Definitely just personal preference and prevents seeing any seams where the vinyl meets.
@@CNMDesigns thank you.... I didn't think about the seams meeting
Great job. I've used different methods but really like the dry mica for the northern lights. Thank you.
Do you think regular mica powders in the same colors (blue, green etc.) would work as well as the "magical" ones you used? Love the cup!
Yes they definitely will, it just won't have the opal/color shift effect.
@@CNMDesigns thank you!😊
Great job I have done a few but always had fish eyes. Will try the steps you did.
Will a heat gun work for the bubbling instead of torch?
Thank you for the idea
I totally bombed my first try. I'm going to try again though. The mica absorbed too much even though I used under 3 ml of resin. So weird :(
Oh no!! I'm so sorry. Were you able to save it or at least clean it up and try again. Definitely as little as possible. Warm up your tumbler and epoxy a bit before spreading to help spread it as thin as possible.
@@CNMDesigns I covered it with glitter and will just turn it into a peekaboo but I was so excited to make yours lol I’m going to try again with heating. After watching it again I noticed I should of done that. Thanks so much for your help. I used medium viscosity resin but do you think I could get away with fast set applying the micas? I’m thinking not lol
This. Is. AMAZING!!!! I’m trying this tomorrow! ❤ I subscribed to your channel. Thank you for the great tutorial.
Did you sand the cup after your base layer and before the mica powder layer?
No, apply paint, let dry, apply epoxy, while the epoxy is still wet apply mica powders. Let cure, add another layer of epoxy and then sand. Hope that makes sense and helps 🤗
@@CNMDesigns it does, thank you! I was always told you have to sand in-between layers to give the new layer something to "cling" to!? So that's why I was wondering, because it didn't look sanded when you added the thin layer of epoxy and mica powder! 😉
Great job!
This turned out beautiful. Thanks for sharing your talent
It’s beautiful. I will be trying this.
Beautiful! Looks like the real northern lights
Beautiful
That makes sense.
My fav. Now. Wow. And just got my white chameleons.... ooo la la
I'd love to see what you create ☺️
Beautiful 😍
Going to try this. You mentioned putting the brushes in acetone. How do you end up cleaning them?
I just soak them for a few minutes in acetone to remove any epoxy and powder, and then wash them with soap and water.
Thank you for sharing! Beautiful work!!!
Btw, your working/storage area is amazing
Thank you for your kind words. ❤️🙏
