So glad to support this channel focusing on using Dorico as a composition tool versus a notational tool. I think composers are fighting a strong headwind as we are surely in the minority of Dorico users. Hopefully we'll see more interest in this aspect as Finale users come onboard.
So glad to hear that! Yes, I think using Dorico is undervalued as a compositional tool in general. However, I've seen Steinberg add features that seem aimed at this demographic of users lately... such as attaching video, markers and all the "DAW-lite" features like CC lanes and the key editor. I'm always excited to see what the next Dorico version offers for composers! Thanks for supporting this channel!
Have you gotten acquainted with the jump bar using 'j'? When you looked up the divide by grid command, I feel like the help search was more clunky. Jump bar (especially used with aliases) is what sets Dorico apart in workflow from all kinds of other apps! Thanks for your helpful videos. As a composer and teacher, I am finding them invaluable. Cheers!
Thanks for that reminder and I’m glad my channel is being helpful :). I really should invest some time to use the jump bar more. That’s a great reminder!
NGL, Dorico is an absolute nightmare for me and represents the classic German approach and tendency to over-optimize at the expense of intuitive workflow and ease of use. Literally nothing in this program is simple or easy. It gets in the way in every regard of actually writing the music. Sure hope it gets easier because otherwise Im going to call it a gigantic fail on the part of Steinberg,
thank you!
You're welcome!

Maybe I can offer some help. What kind of music do you write?
