I skipped it, I went straight in and found it terrifying, luckily I had a good find and got a RPK and an RPG with 3 AP rounds. Nothing stopped me, except for the bandits, sniper took my head clean off before I even saw him.
>short-sleeved top, no protection against radiation or boolits >no protection for scalp >belt-fed machine gun which would be heavy, with rare ammunition, difficult to reload in combat >no backpack, water bottle, or, apparently, any other supplies (the machine gun must be REALLY heavy) >wasting ammunition when the target cannot be seen >running _toward_ the muffled screams when something attacks >too much backtracking, not enough artifact-collecting Overall score: Rookie/10, probably wouldn't make it past Cordon , would not stalk with
Kai Williamson You can see their eyes _and_ the air forms an inferior mirage around the bodies while they're "invisible." How many times did you die in the Village? I don't say this often, but get good.
Kai Williamson Bloodsuckers are easy, you don't need spray and pray or good gear. You just follow the sound, check your back and pump a load of shotty in its face when it comes close. High chance of stun.
I managed to last half an hour by doing what he did (in the first game, would have lasted longer actually if the AI wasn't so bad and kept pushing me out of cover :/)
Think about it, you hear them screaming in pain and, as we saw, they died. Would you run away and risk getting shot in the back or try to find and kill what killed the scientists as quickly as possible.
Rules of the zone. 1.Becareful of radiation 2.The military is hostile towards us stalkers 3.Do not stop at a Blood suckers lair 4.When a emission comes get to cover quickly 5.Stay safe out there and bring something back to trade. 6. Oh and I almost forget Never ever waste your rounds, ammo is getting harder to find
Reasons this wouldn't work. >Minimal armor >Weapon used is not ideal for travel >Weapon used has really rare ammo >Stopping when you are in what seems to be a bloodsucker lair is a terrible plan >Following people is a good way to get shot >No backpack is seen >Trying to be stealthy when standing up >There is no reason to follow screams >The people in anti-rad suits aren't armed in any way >Shooting at something you can't see is a terrible idea >In an area for no reason at all >People in anti-rad suits weren't in any way trying to hide their presence I like this video, but it wouldn't work if it wasn't a video.
weapon used isn't in the game. It is an FN MINIMI, which uses 5.56 Nato, which is common in the game and in real life. Not a realistic video, but one in the spirit of the game. I thought it was well done, for what it was.
>Minimal armor means faster movement, even better than carrying a exoskeleton >Heavy weapons are good to attack more at one time, just if its in close range >And what? in stalker you can get to a trader easily and get your ammo for 300 RU >Bloodsucker lairs are ways more dark, its a place with a poltergeist or either a anomaly >In stalker we dont have backpacks,we have carry space.with that armor i say he could carry at least 75 kg >I would stealth too,the scientist must have radios,or either the guy would be on a stealth recon mision >In a recon mission you need to list everything that you seenor heard.so lets Supose he was on a recon mision. >They are Hazmat Suits i think and they were scientist of course. The problem is maybe that they were from a enemy faction. >Poltergeists And Anomalies Are Most Invisible,So Bloodscuckers,so probably he was shooting a poltergeist or anomaly, cause he could see the bloodscuker getting out of the room. >What do you know about what he done before?Uh? >They dont need to keep hided, they have a work and they know what can happen,so the creator was trying to give an atmosphear to the video.
yes, because a realistic weight and bulk has anything to do with video games. in CoP I managed to lug around 3 assault rifles, 2 sniper rifles, a shotgun and a heavy machine gun (Zulu's so it was a little heavier than the normal HMG) as well as a minimum of 600 rounds of ammo (of both ap and normal types) for all my assault rifles, 50 of both slug and shot shell and about 300 HMG rounds and between 20 and 50 rounds for my snipers, PLUS the like 40 first aid kits, 50 anti rad drugs and like 70 bandages. and as for the armor, in every stalker game you start out with the most basic, piece of shit armor the game has, and if your good, or play it on easy, you can make it through a lot of the game with the crap armor, so yeah, its not realistic, but is it accurate to the game? I think so, hell, mythbusters tested doom3's ability for the buff main character to carry all the weapons shown in game, and with just themselves it was hard, but then they got an appropriately musclular guy to more accurately represent the MC and the bulk was the only real problem then XD
1) It's an nato Machine gun, and you will get problem to find Nato 5.56 x45 rounds in the ukraine ZONA. 2)It's heavy. Srsly, 6,83 kg it's a bit heavy for running around. AK-74M weight around 3,3kg, so it's ALOT less. Well, it's enought i think. (Sorry for my bad eng)
GNSO Good point. Also on your "it would be hard to find ammo" (i do agree with it), if you noticed he did indeed run out of ammo and had to switch to his sidearm. The weight of the gun could be an issue if your more on the skinny side but if you have a lot of muscle I would go with the LMG. I also don't care about how good your english is. I think it's fine, hell it's better then most people who do speak english.
13chareed In the Stalker games, the only guys who carried around Machine Guns were those in a ExoSkeleton, simply because of its weight and how much it limited the users mobility. They're used for heavy, supressive fire. A random lone soldier scouting an abandoned building would not be hauling that thing around, he'd be suited up with lightweight gear for fast movement.
Great video, and if the sounds are "fake" and manually added (I'm assuming that's what you did) then you did a helluva job getting the timing right. Ignore what people say about all the picky details -- you put an enormous amount of effort into making this, and it's amazing. (also, the filming location... oh my god, wow, it was perfect).
@Comrade Chungus Knowing he's a westerner most likely, it's more possible that he's a merc because the S.T.A.L.K.E.R wiki says that a lot of mercs are foreigners too.
- Skrub doesn't have exoskeleton, nor SKAT-9M armor - Has no antiradiation drugs or vodka for anomalies - No artifact collecting - No cheeki breeki - No bread and diet sausage - doesn't aim like a real slavik stalker Status: 5.7/10, could try stalking with (if you don't die right at cordon)
IF you've played S.T.A.L.K.E.R. the thing that would've done that would have been a mutant;a bloodsucker most likely - considering Bloodsuckers are invisible (partially). OR an Anomaly
God damn rookies, always taking the biggest gun they can find. And then not having ammo for it. Magpie/10 would probably steal your shit then leave you for dead with a Chimera
+Imperial Guardsmen It's in the description. It was filmed in Thomaston, GA. I was answering the question. As for what you're saying, the film the games are based on was actually filmed in real toxic sites. Two film crew died from it.
I love how those scientist have second hand Finnish defence forces gas masks. You can tell by the tower logo on the voice mitter housing at 4:07. Never though they sold them all the way to USA.
BGpunsher you can see the rounds protruding from the mag, that's at least five to ten rounds, but its not jiggling around as much, indicating there is more ammo weighing the ammo belt down. So probably 20 to 100 rounds of ammunition left.
Kinda strange that a guy on his own, trying to survive in an abandoned, irradiated area wouldn't even be carrying a water bottle or food. Also, yeah, a "light" machine gun that can chew through ~600 rounds of NATO ammunition (Ukraine still isn't NATO) per minute, but other people have mentioned that. Also, the costumes are way to clean. It looks like the characters must have just washed them. Also, a gas mask alone won't protect you against radiation or most forms of chemical contaminants, you need a CBRN suite of some kind. Unimpressed.
I think you're reading into this a bit too much. the video was made to be cool and entertaining for those who like the game, not a simulation. I'm sure he is devastated he didn't live up to your lofty expectations.
Attention to detail is an important part of directing. Now, standards are subjective, but why would you want to watch a film by someone who didn't do his/her job properly? In the case of the game, the survival element is quite significant, and the game is quite careful to make itself plausible within the constraints of being a video game. Any film homage should consider itself obligated to do the same. Maybe you don't care, maybe you don't know enough to realize the kind of mistakes, maybe you're especially good at suspending your disbelief. Maybe you didn't like it either and are just being a contrarian. In any case, while your opinion is valid, I don't think it's a good idea to defend lazy film-makers.
Play the games. Creative liberties were taken with the way radiation works because it would have been a _really_ shitty game if you died a slow, painful, agonizing death if you ever walked too close to an irradiated area. They treat it more like a wound which can be treated with medicine or vodka. As for the uniforms, that bugged me too.
have fire discipline... when expanding ammo. bursts. 5.56 ammo is far more common in Eastern Bloc nations than you would think. However belts of it not so much. Luckily it takes regular 30 round magazines as well.
You can use a standard 30 round magazine in light machine gun like the M249 or FN MINIMI if you don't have any belts. You can also wrap your penis in saran wrap if you're all out of condoms. Both solutions are about equally effective (i.e. not). Such LMGs will accept rounds from a 30 round magazine, but they tend to jam a lot (even more than normal), and also tend to rip up the magazines due to the higher cycle rate and the way the bolt works. And granted there might be 5.56 ammo lying around, but not enough to justify carrying a weapon the blows through 900 round per minute (if memory serves me). Also, 5.45 and 7.62 (long or short) Soviet ammo would be much more common. As are Kalashnikov, SKS and Mosin Nagant rifles. You would be better off with any of the above than an M249.
Dude you forgot to pick up the poison from the truck for the bloodsucker lair o wait you playing MISERY MOD 2.1? yeah theirs no map sorry o wait looks like you quick save when the bloodsucker killed you time to start over now that blows LOL
I loved this. Screw all the 'hardcore stalkers' in the comments talking shit. This was great. Perfectly encapsulated how I felt the first time entering The Zone. Overconfidence, poor equipment choice, bad decisions, and then short lived terror and regret. Clints shaking with fear seeing the bloodsucker victims is 10/10 acting, and the gunfire vfx have aged quite well.
Hey guys good job to all of you, very well done, I really loved the games and you guys did a great job of bringing that out in a short film, I hope to see more, possibly a series :) thanks.
I remember back in 2k10. I was 12 years old, and this game just came out. I remember watching your video and let my fantasies go. Probably these fantasies started to get my ideas flourish. Now I'm studying to become a computer engineer and work with these types of games next to playing Pen and Paper tabletop RPGs in my freetime. Thank you. -2020 02 03
when you're supposed to stay few months in the rookie village and get some experience in cordon and get prepared for the tough life in the zone but instead ,you fast travel directly to pripyat
Nice one, from the deep south; one moment of genius - the ground level shot of the stalker walking towards the can, we don't know whether he's going to kick it, then we think he's going to miss it, then he kicks it...
That specific machine gun in the video is a M249 light machine gun. Whoever said ammunition was rare, it's the same ammo as the M4 or M16 rifle, the 5.56x45mm round. I imagine however in the Ukrainian environment, 7.62x39mm or 5.45x39mm for AK series assault rifles or 7.62x54R for battle rifles and sniper rifles would be the most available cartridge. But the machine gun operated by soldiers in the field usually doesn't have special ammunition that you wouldn't be able to use with your primary. The Soviet light machine guns like the RPK would be in 7.62x39mm, while the heavy machine gun like the PK general purpose machine gun would be chambered in the bigger 7.62x54R. There's some background info about ammo.
Excellent stuff. Good build up of suspense, superb camera angles, loved the setting, an amazing find of location. Lack of gloves on guys in chemical suits a bit of an oversight but guessing only me would notice that. Great work, keep em coming.
Great film! A friend of mine who used to be a marine gave me some advice once, and that was that when holding the gun keep your elbow into your side for better stability, and accuracy. Maybe a civilian won't know this, but he seemed to be trained military. :) Wonderful job overall!
violation against S.T.A.L.K.E.R. rule: -number 1: if you can't kill a mutant with a handgun, use the heavy shit, not the other way around -number 2: don't ever, ever turn your back to an open spot, always cover your 6 -number 3: never focus on one thing, be alert and keep looking around, even when you think you're clear but still all in all it's a great movie, completed STALKER COP a few times and immediately recognized Jupiter plant administration buildings, keep up such movies bro!!!!
> Goods stolen by bandits > Only left a few rounds of MG and gasmasks (they have some mercy) > INeedSomeoneForLoot > Seeing stalker with scientific suit > They're in bloodsucker's lair > Without 12 ga
People with anti-rad shouldve sent more people if they knew they were scouting. The military guy shouldve been friends with the scientist. The scientists never looked behind them even when they shouldve heard the loud footsteps on the wooden staircase. The guy didnt have proper equipment (backpack, extra rounds for that mg, and some more protection like atleast a helmet or some more protection [maybe a bandit looted him, agh, those bandits!]) for defense and offense. Couldve seen bloodsuckers footsteps (like moving water or moving pebbles on floor). The military doesnt train people to be rookies, the military always aims for experienced, but simce this is a fan made movie i cant reslly argue about movie budget for extra props
Gosh, that piano is eerie. I'd love to learn whatever song is playing. I know it's by Trevor Sather but I have no clue what the name of the song is or where I could find it to listen to.
It's astounding to me how many people "dislike" this short film. And the complaints make me roll my eyes to the point where I wish critics never existed. But, ehh. Always a good film to go back to. Still holds up. It's moody, slow, and most of all... scary.
Really not stupid. I don't think anyone gives a fuck what the STALKER games were based on when you're watching this. The STALKER games bare almost no relation to the film and this is about a game. It's a short film! Great atmosphere. The foley work, music and background was really good, Wouldn't have even noticed if you hadn't said. I love STALKER and this kicks ass. Hope you get the time and funding to do a longer one someday. Thanks guys.
My cuzin and myself both agreed this was very enjoyable to watch maybe you should make a full movie based on S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Call OF Pripyat or Clear Sky Or even a combination of the two.
This is pretty good. Just a few pointers though. All the scenes outside are over-lit. Try working on that. Also, some footstep sound effects would be nice. I would love to hear the footsteps of the guys in the hazmat suits here: 2:50. Also, when they pass the window: 3:17 and through the mud: 3:41
This Stalker must be one of those people who skipped the starting camp for new Stalkers outside the Zone.
Probably didn't even bother talking to Sidorovich.
I skipped it, I went straight in and found it terrifying, luckily I had a good find and got a RPK and an RPG with 3 AP rounds. Nothing stopped me, except for the bandits, sniper took my head clean off before I even saw him.

A Stalker with a heavy machine gun?
(I meant light machine gun, my bad.)

Yeah. Not like the games, though. Closer to the books.
Anomalies in the air. Anything in the air gets to close gets turned to scrap. Anyone parachuting in gets turned to goo...

Also, 5.45 and 7.62 (long or short) Soviet ammo would be much more common. As are Kalashnikov, SKS and Mosin Nagant rifles. You would be better off with any of the above than an M249.
Dude you forgot to pick up the poison from the truck for the bloodsucker lair o wait you playing MISERY MOD 2.1? yeah theirs no map sorry o wait looks like you quick save when the bloodsucker killed you time to start over now that blows LOL
who says its call of pripyat?
who says its MISERY? or clear sky always press that F5 key
they looked perfect..loved the short movie...perfect casting and set up
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. . . . So he is in Ukraine. . . . in full american gear.. . . this bothers me alot. . . .
Wtf? So darth vader was the bad guy? Lol
ничего особенного....
a good stalker has a shotgun, a sniper and a pistol... ther rest is chesmiky and vodka!
stay cheeky breeky, and good hunting stalkers
I loved this. Screw all the 'hardcore stalkers' in the comments talking shit. This was great. Perfectly encapsulated how I felt the first time entering The Zone. Overconfidence, poor equipment choice, bad decisions, and then short lived terror and regret. Clints shaking with fear seeing the bloodsucker victims is 10/10 acting, and the gunfire vfx have aged quite well.
This is where "fallout 3 short film- deprivation" was filmed, must be a popular spot. Anyway good job on the short film.
Hey guys good job to all of you, very well done, I really loved the games and you guys did a great job of bringing that out in a short film, I hope to see more, possibly a series :) thanks.
Great job! You managed to recreate the atmosphere of desolation, destruction and solitude of the game and movie!
Thank you. -2020 02 03
All these seriuos videos, and then you look at the progile pic. LOVE it.
when you're supposed to stay few months in the rookie village and get some experience in cordon and get prepared for the tough life in the zone
but instead ,you fast travel directly to pripyat
Nice short. Good Job. Great location. Very creepy!
Excellent stuff. Good build up of suspense, superb camera angles, loved the setting, an amazing find of location. Lack of gloves on guys in chemical suits a bit of an oversight but guessing only me would notice that. Great work, keep em coming.
Awesome film! I love how dark it was and how it was shot on a real abandoned location! It had nice use of camera shots and editing. Great job!
Great film! A friend of mine who used to be a marine gave me some advice once, and that was that when holding the gun keep your elbow into your side for better stability, and accuracy. Maybe a civilian won't know this, but he seemed to be trained military. :) Wonderful job overall!
violation against S.T.A.L.K.E.R. rule:
-number 1: if you can't kill a mutant with a handgun, use the heavy shit, not the other way around
-number 2: don't ever, ever turn your back to an open spot, always cover your 6
-number 3: never focus on one thing, be alert and keep looking around, even when you think you're clear
but still all in all it's a great movie, completed STALKER COP a few times and immediately recognized Jupiter plant administration buildings, keep up such movies bro!!!!
@pwnisher
amazing! Considering you guys didn't have a huge budget, could you please tell me the lighting equipments you used?
Also, you guys filmed this in the same place as your Killzone movie, thats pretty cool.
Bad ass for a short film u guys should do more like this. 10/10
The sound of the jets .. ORGASM xD
Must say, this is a damn good job, congrats guys!! Hope to see more from this.
kids these days always on there cellphone and not knowing there is someone with a gun behind them
sweet vid, although I think that 1,2 filters and some color grading would have really helped for the overall mood :)
Great, good job , and great FX
This stalker probably doesn't even know what cheeki breeki is.
The directors rendered the glare perfectly, and they totally nailed the game's I.A.
Nice setting, looks like it came right out from the STALKER universe.
It almost scared the hell out of me! I really enjoyed
Last stingray survivor, wandering pripyat colorizes.
Super Edit and very cool music.. .
The bullet impacts to the ground were impressive!
Good Job Guys!! ;)
I really liked it
Nicely directed. And sound it greeeeeeeat!
> Goods stolen by bandits
> Only left a few rounds of MG and gasmasks (they have some mercy)
> INeedSomeoneForLoot
> Seeing stalker with scientific suit
> They're in bloodsucker's lair
> Without 12 ga
That moment when you shove all your popcorn in your mouth coz your too busy watching the film.
Gosh, that piano is eerie. I'd love to learn whatever song is playing. I know it's by Trevor Sather but I have no clue what the name of the song is or where I could find it to listen to.
Fantastic camera work!
That was cool! Where was this filmed!? I would absolutely love to get my hands on a location like this!
there is no way he went through that drum that fast
amazing!!! what program Trevor Sather used for music?
Great camera work, good editing, acting, location, sound. Loved it. But should have kept it under 4 mins in my opinion. But overall, its excellent. :)
Good low budget film making.Good work on your uniforms.
> Leaves outpost
> No weapon
> *Enters the Zone*
> Noobs
Those footsteps, very falloutish... haha awesome
amazing short film !!
That... was actually pretty damned cool.
4 minutes in, and we finally hear the first word
Hi, what were the production costs for making the film? Also, what equipment (hardware and software) did you use?
The sounds near the beginning. The gun sounds. They're from Fallout New Vegas aren't they? lol
gave me chills was really good ;o gj!
Quite good, nice location and post work.
In what sense is this official?
Cliiiiiiint, where do you get your sound effects from?!
Also, when they pass the window: 3:17 and through the mud: 3:41
>czech gas mask
>american gpmg
WHAT ARE YOU DOING
