Wait hold on, how did he/they even arrive at this conclusion? Did Goode-Toulman empirically test this over and over with many different species? Because that counts as having empirically tested it if we were to look at the original paper. At least I hope that's how it was made up because it's such a bizarre way to figure our missing species count that I would not have expected to work
