What abuse, how did Louie ck. Even get in trouble for asking for consent and not even touching the girls. There was no stories of any kind of consequences for saying no
This just isn't true! His manager threatened two of the women's careers for talking about it, and one of them had just got a big break working on The Chris Rock Show where he had the power to fire her. How did all of you get so sure about something you never bothered to look into? Just, unquestioning devotion to your hero, believing whatever he or his friends said? It’s a mistake that he paid consequences for, it affected his career not theirs., it’s not a crime. Plus he learned his lesson and started jerking off in front of established female comedians that laughed and roasted his ass while he did it
Solid analysis. I had similar feelings, but you were able to articulate the intricacies of it eloquently in this video in a way I could not. Thank you.
well put together video, but the stance on louis ck is a weird one. he got busted being slightly more awkward than being busted by your mum for cranking one out, and dabbling in dissecting comedy while moral grandstanding over this shit is a cognitive dissonance that kind of undermines everything else you say - if that's what you're walking away with over the louis 'scandal', then it's fair to assume your critical eye may not be operating to spec.
Lol at someone who never learned the actual facts of the situation talking about someone else's lack of a critical eye. No, he wasn't just awkward. He didn't just have a weird kink. He didn't always ask permission. He was a predator who only got away with his behavior because he was powerful. If you or I or a fucking Mickey D's manager 'asked' a subordinate to watch him jerk off (as Louie did on-set at the Chris Rock show) he'd be fucking fired and it'd be in the paper and no one would feel sorry for him. If you started jerking it to a woman you just met over the phone (no, she wasn't asked) you might get arrested. Talk after you've read or watched something about it from journalists instead of just the man you are blindly hero-worshipping and his friends and fans. Louis asked grown women if they would consent to him having a shuffle - the adult women, who had already agreed to go back to Louis' room, all said yes. The adult women hoped this would advance their career - something Louis never said or implied. Since Louis was known for doing this since the turn of the century, when he had very, very little 'Star Power' it would be unfair to suggest Louis was abusing his position. He is simply an adult man who had a kink, who always asked for consent - and only asked adult women.
This just isn't true. Only two women agreed to meet him in his hotel room, together, believing it was for professional purposes. Two women were approached at their workplaces, where he was powerful. (If you go to your subordinate at work and ask if you can jack off in front of them, you will be fired, with good reason.) One got ambushed over the phone. Those are just the five originally brought up in the New York Times expose. NONE said they agreed because they thought it was a quid pro quo for their careers. More have come out since and shared in the documentary. You are repeating LIES manufactured as part of an expensive PR firm's spin package for a millionaire who does not care about you. You're unjustly slandering these women who got violated by their hero and spent years being too scared to say anything. I used to like Louie, too. I changed my mind based on new evidence. Are you a person who pays attention to facts and evidence? Because you're not acting like one right now.
@@liferadous Violated by their hero - there you go comparing women to children. He asked - they consented. If women want equality, then they should live by the same rules as men. me too, so dissapointed right now.
Why would he release a special on UA-cam at the level he’s at now
Yup same
- The RTards Shane Constantly Jokes About
yeah this sucks.
My impression of Shane is the ultimate bro. He comes off as the guy you would want to have some drinks with because he makes the crew laugh. He's the dude in the locker room cracking up the team before the coach rips you to shreds. His chemistry with Matt (who I kinda think has genius level IQ) is admirable for male friendships. He makes me laugh my ass off. I'm really happy he's successful.
The Louis C.K. disclaimer derailed the vibe of the entire video.
Exactly
Spot on
100%
Right? Here I was thinking I was enjoying a great video, about a great guy, expertly created and edited by a great man, and then it turns out it was a lady this whole time. It's like Bruce Gender all over again.
Fr and all the shit about the puns....this dudes a wanker
Louis lost millions because he dared ask consent to coworkers and masturbated on the phone. He is a freak, but an abuser he is not. Dont go with the weird lies that happened after the accusation and go read the accusation yourself -.-
Louis deserved to be criticized for what he did. It wasn't good, but he is no monster and paid his due in my book. Let the man be a great comic.
Wasn't on the phone . It was in front of them in his room
@@a2thewhy05 Yes, those he asked for concent first. They said yes. They might have felt pressure, but he wasn't just whipping his dick out. He was never blocking the door. Go read the accusations, they said themselves all of that. They said they giggle while it happened and LATER thought it was fucked up. In the moment they didnt felt in danger.
@@a2thewhy05he still asked for permission. It’s a kink. A weird kink but he paid his dues for it.
@@w_stew8912 they weren't in a position where they could freely say no and know there would be no repercussions. The power imbalance makes their consent questionable.
@@SnowCrashed1 at the time he wasn't that powerful at all. He was a comedy writer with more experience than them, but he wasn't the Louis that had an insanely popular show on fx and was doing the garden regularly.
Breaks my heart see a fan of comedy "canceling" CK.
Fully,
He’s not a fan of comedy. He is just a garbage leech with zero original thought. He is a sjw more then a fan of comedy
Amen
I struggle to throw him into the pile of real bastards but he's definitely lost a lot of respect for the way he handled the situation.
@@Arnogorter He never broke the law and I'm not looking for new friends. Louis Ck is a comedy genius and he makes me lough, that's his only purpose.
The way Shane performs is NOT perfect, but that's part of the appeal. The natural, genuine nature of his speech and delivery is refreshing. It definitely is like hanging out with a friend in a way instead of seeing someone play a character, which I really enjoy. Very well done. Subbed.
If I'm not mistaken, I've heard Gillis on a podcast say that the ' I can see everyone not enjoying it' was part of the bit.
For reference, he was talking about the news articles written about him and how they claimed he even knew he was bombing, and used that moment for reference.
yeah matt had a solo podcast after the snl ep and said that him saying that people were unhappy was his schtick. It's kind of obvious when you've watched enough of him.
shane gillis singlehandedly saving bud light from oblivion
The puns are so hilarious. Nothing wrong with a little momentary low effort humor
Saw Shanes live before the special was released and I was surprised to realize that it was obviously the same act, but exactly, to a tea… which means nothing was unintentional, it was made to seem like it was but truly so tight of an act, movement, punchlines, cadence, everything.
30:10 "that's ruff" is very funny idc what anyone says
33 minutes of some British guy explaining Shane Gillis to us. Just what the world needs...
This gay around 29:00.
He’s one of the bros. That’s the best way I can describe it. It’s not a character on stage, he’s just one of the bros
I too think it's time to forgive Louis

Great analysis as always , this channel is underappreciated gold.
Your line in the sand is Louis CK? 🙄
But but "ABUSE" lol
Good God. This BS putting him even remotely near the level of Weinstein is insane. Absolute knobs.
He messed up... a little. Barely. I'm more annoyed Louis equated orange man with mustache man, which is just as insane. But the man is talented and only slightly crappy--like all of us(crappy, not talented).

He’s a naturally hilarious dude, he can just talk about anything and it’s funny.
What an outstandingly good video. Really hope gillis sees this. If nothing else it shows youre a huge fan
hearing folks from across the pond reference the Rogan-sphere is a real treat because i feel like a bit of a snob snubbing them all the time. cheers.
Shane saying things like "i don't know about this next joke" or saying "look i don't have any material that can be on tv" it's all written. sorry if im ruining the sauce for some of you but Shane being able to make things feel so improvised proves how good of a writer he is, like when he's asking the crowd to suggest different army's then saying ways they'd be more intimidating if they were gay. all of its written i guarantee you any army you could think of yelling out shane would of had a joke written about them, and oh whats that you yelled out one he missed? He had a joke for that situation to. Shanes a great writer thats how he makes this stuff feel like it does on stage. he's written the jokes in the way that shows us how his brain thinks. its not just Shane's talent, or shanes delivery that makes him great its Shanes writing.
And ur the expert and know for certain whether or not it was improvised beacuse ?? 😂 🤡

you nailed what i couldn't put a finger on why i love santino and theo on podcasts but can't sit through their stand up. nice video good work
What abuse, how did Louie ck.
I used to love Louie too, then I learned the facts and realized, he let power and fame mess him up, and he hurt people.
@@liferadous Goodman and wolov had their big break at aspen comedy festival, it was after that they went to his hotel and he asked to masturbate in front of them and they said yes. They said they worried if they talked about it too openly it could get back to his manager who had the power to damage their careers, not that he ever made any. Both of them said no actual threat was ever made. The Chris rock show employee was anonymous, she also gave consent. Never said she was threatened. Women who said that he asked them and they said no… or said “you have a daughter and a wife! No im
Not ok with you jerking off in front of me!” There not even an allegation of there being any consequences for saying no. One told the producers Cortney cox and “Dewey Riley” about what happened Who were rightfully on her side …. Why don’t you tell me how that one played out since you are so well read on the subject. I know the article you basing your argument off and you even got that wrong. Read more that one article before you tell people they need to look deeper. I understand that being a person with the stature and power of Louis ck Should not even request that kind of thing from someone working below him on the same production.
Thank you.
Louis is goated
Shane is the best comic IN MY OPINION. I listen to mssp while I'm at work and I have to stop myself from howling sometimes
thats ruff was awesome stop hating my guy 😭
I saw Gillis at the Comedy Cellar in NY in 2021 and I knew he was different. Just a few years later he's on top of the industry.
Music choices are on point. Tribes best instrumentals and mulatu astatke at the end
Thank you
“Now lets play Hey Jude” was the least realistic part of the Beatle impression😭 love this video bro
well put together video, but the stance on louis ck is a weird one. he got busted being slightly more awkward than being busted by your mum for cranking one out, and dabbling in dissecting comedy while moral grandstanding over this shit is a cognitive dissonance that kind of undermines everything else you say - if that's what you're walking away with over the louis 'scandal', then it's fair to assume your critical eye may not be operating to spec.
Right now you are being a cog in a massive misinformation campaign orchestrated by a millionaire to salvage his rep.
All throughout highschool and well into adulthood, I noticed people becoming obsessed things weren't that great just because they're popular. Shane Gillis is one of those things
No he is better that’s why
Hi Shane, we love you!
This was a phenomenal analysis. I haven't come across your videos, but I thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated this. Well done! Keep it up, I hope everyone realizes this treasure of a channel is here!
Hi shane, can't wait til you talk about this on MSSP :)
Gillis had a style that just makes him likable, feels like I could hang with him and it wouldn’t be awkward.
I enjoy how you articulate and gove shape to ideas that floatnhalf-formed through my head. The specificity helps so much
I also appreciate you taking the time to make quality stuff instead of flooding timeline!
bro has great taste in music, his appreciation of high level artistry cleary does translate
Seems weird to give such a forced explanation about why you're talking about one of the greatest living comedians who owned what he did which wasn't nearly as bad as it was painted to be at the time. He seems like an example of how to take the criticism and find a pathway to redemption.
King Louie 2024
He did absolutely nothing wrong. He asked, and other consenting adults said yes.
@@Walrus286well I’d say he definitely shoulda thought how much control and pressure he had / could give off as the “boss” but he acknowledged that and that’s where it should’ve ended for me like it was just a clear mistake and miscommunication problem to apologize for if that

I really appreciate this vid. Your insight and perspective gives, honesty. The “Synonym-Comedy” comment is truly insightful and logical. Puts all of these people in on a spectrum. I was always thinking to myself when listening or watching comedians that use the synonym tactics, “this is not that funny” but I couldn’t put my finger on the reason behind my criticism. I always thought that I was just to jaded and know I can pinpoint the reason why I’m not , fall on the floor laughing like the audience is. I imagine it’s hard to catch next to tons of people laughing uncontrollably. Thanks again
This was really well put together!! Ending with the Paw Patrol joke , very nice !!
I heard Bob Dylan and thought my Spotify opened 😂
My nephew introduced me to Shanes comedy last year, and I am such a fan now!
He's talented and seems like a genuine guy.
The inside joke thing is so true, being Australian i knew the kangaroo video so i laughed knowing what i was laughing about but the monkey bars video i had never seen and i laughed anyway because of how he told it i felt like id seen it lol
This dive into Gillis' style is great and all, but can we talk about this man`s immaculate taste in music? I mean Ethiopiques Vol 4 AND section.80 in the SAME VIDEO?
I couldn’t believe it when I heard Tezeta 😹
Don't always agree with everything you say, but I have to respect the craftmanship of the video, really appreciate you trying to diversify your style.
I had this in my "Watch Later" for a month, because I thought it was just a Shane Gillis special.
I need to hit that bell.
What a beautiful way to end it.
I walked in there and said “wowww what a beautiful way to end it”
His stand up is legit just like the pod. That’s why it works so well.
Gillis, Norman, Soder, Oakerson, and Von are leaders and pioneers in a new era of comedy: bro comedy. They make everyone feel like they're one of the bros just hanging out. It's quite literally inclusive comedy. What a time we're in.
“If you’re a simpleton, fast forward this part as if were talking about the dark lord Voldemort”
That really threw off the whole vid for me, such an odd moment with the preemptive apology as if he’s actually committing a serious offense
I love the production, the background music was perfect! Love the little videos on the side during your references
norm said "that's funny, right?" a lot. he reminds me of norm, my favorite comedian. i think he's going to get to norms level.
He's definitely influenced by norm to some extent. He also does that thing norm did where he pretends to be a really simple dumb guy when he's secretly much more intelligent. I also love that norm reached out when he was being canceled and fired from snl with a private heartfelt message of support and encouragement.
Mate... I'm so glad you brought it up, I love Santino's energy and timing during bad friends and I was left speechless when I watched his last half an hour special... painfully unfunny I couldn't believe it was the same guy
santino is one of those dudes that i consider funny but would NEVER watch anything recorded or "material" from them. There's a few others that fall into the same category. It's really not even a slight towards him, i mean it in the best way. Being spur of the moment/off the cuff type funny is great, situational humor and just having the wit to be funny in conversation and on the spot. He cracks me up on Bad Friends, but yeh, not a "prepared material" guy.
@@SneakyG59 It's kinda like Rogan for me. I fuck with him on his podcast but his standup just isn't it for me.

Didn't know that I would enjoy this breakdown of shanes comedy skills so much. Great job man.
Not a single man would complain if a woman asked if she could rub one out in front of them.
Stop taking away their agency.
Stop treating them like infants.

So was Bill Cosby, incredibly skilled and influential, but you don't see people replaying his shit all the time, because they don't wanna look at his stupid face after what he's done.
