A friend of mine who is Muslim asked me recently why I gravitated to Buddhism and not Islam. I wanted to tell him because Islam treats the religion of my ancestors, their deities/orixa and the rituals they built around appreciating nature and ancestors the same way European Christians does.

my only wish is that the book included references to scriptures or koans and how the practitioners took those and were able to reinterpret them.
