Daniel 9:35 you shouldn't take the c pawn with your d pawn: you destroy your good pawns center, give your d pawn for the opponent less powerful c pawn, weaken the e pawn, and allow her to recapture developing the bishop (or other piece) on a good square. It's a concept you should have in mind not only in regard of the French defense

    A couple pointers;
In your midgame when attacking you should look to use X-rays and pins a lot more than you are right now. Lichess puzzles is a great way to get used to spotting those. 10-15 minutes a day. Solving maybe 10ish puzzles. It’ll really get you the hang of it. There were a couple places in your game when there were some good plays in regards to that. (For example in your second game ~the 12:30 mark you could capture on g7 with the bishop giving a check and opening a discovered attack on the queen with your rook. The rook was x-raying the queen through the bishop here)
Also for mid-game defense look out for similar plays. In your first game for example you put both your bishops on the same row and neither was directly defended at the time. If a rook is put on the same row it’s usually a piece down. Look out for what pieces the opponent has and avoid chaining your pieces in places they can double attack (if they have a dark square bishop beware whenever your king is on a dark square. Don’t want to put another piece like the queen where it can be pinned. If they have a rook try to avoid putting pieces on the same row/file unless at least one is defended.
Also; I’d recommend long term not going for gambit style openings. Sure at this level it might get you a quick couple wins against unprepared opponents but I’m sure that’s not your focus. I’d equate it to going all-in pre-flop with pocket jacks in a deep stack game. Like. Sure; jacks is a decent hand. But it’s not a strong strat and long term it’ll hurt you.
Aight random analysis is random. Hope it helps. It’s nice chess is gaining more mainstream attention tbh :)
    Tc. Peace ✌🏽

The reason why it wanted you to move the pawn up because it controls the center. It also lets your knight gain tempo on the rook by attacking it. Tempo in chess is real important and is not understood at this level. Ask Levy about it and how you to play the right moves without calculating. I would have at least should you this if I was coaching but I'm not a GM or a IM so. I beat people way above my rating because they don't follow simple rules of chess. I suggest taking these courses. 1. The Grandmasters Positional Understanding. 2. Grandmasters Secrets Beginner. 3. My Thinking System. 4. How to avoid making blunders. Then followed by Winning Chess Strategies - GM Yasser Seirawan & IM Jeremy Silman. You need to develop a thought process and a plan before every game.

Hey Daniel! I think it's important to take the analysis with a grain of salt. The computer is an absolute savage sometimes, and just plays a lot differently than humans. You can still get good insight out of it, but don't feel bad about all your moves haha. Cool to see you playing chess btw!

  • @MrSupernova111

The second game you converted the game into a French defense which follows the structure at 9:08. The idea here is that black tries to undermine your pawn chain with c5 (as was done) and you're supposed to defend it anyway you can. What you don't want is to take on c5 because you're left with a backwards pawn on the c file which becomes a target and black can continue to push down pawns further undermining your structure. At 10:24 the knight move was great in that it glued your position well. Look at all the important squares that its hitting. That said, knights need outposts. 10:30 black gifted you an outpost for your knight on c6 which not only stops rooks from getting to d1 but indirectly defends your c3 pawn and allows for trading pieces that lead to favorable positions. 11:04 f4 traps your bishop. 12:31 you missed Bxg7+ (check) which opens a discovered attack on the black queen. Next move you take the queen with the rook on e1.

11:05 over there, Qe2 is best because you attacking his knight with bishop + now with queen (and the rook behind it) so you have 3 attacker, he only defends it with queen and bishop (2 defender) and he cannot add a new defender to it (he only has 2 rooks, but they cannot defend the knight because there's a pawn behind that knigth blocking the e file... and because of this he supposed to move away his knight in order to not lose it, but its pinned bye the bishop... if he moves it he loses his queen... it also blocks the way on the E file to the e6 pawn (which your queen can take with a check) ... so black would be in huge trouble after Qe2, thats why Nc4 was a mistake :D briefly :D

Congrats on the win! I think that just trying to judge what is a good move off of what the computer says is not super helpful, because it just says what it thinks was the best move and how your move compares to it. For example, sometimes it says you blundered when the reality is that Poki blundered a piece and you just didn't find the right way to take advantage. Hopefully you get a chance to review your games with Levy or some other high level coach. I'm a 1700 and I still sometimes don't understand the computer analysis.

In matchplay your opponents can prepare against openings that you are known to play and since they are being coached by professionals it is unwise to use openings that are inferior and can be seen in your history of games. As black, you should avoid gambits. There aren't very many that are considered sound for black. Some are playable but again still inferior if the opponent is prepared. From the white side you can play Queen's gambit. There are several choices that are playable from white side, Evan's Gambit, King's Gambit, Scotch Gambit. At 1200 ratings you can easily attain the same development advantage that you get from a gambit by simply outplaying your opponent in the opening using sound opening theory. You should look at Morphy's games perhaps. He used some slightly dubious opening as per modern theory but likes to develop quickly and gives good instruction on how to develop pieces quickly against weaker opponents

daniel, im a tad older than you ( 62)
just heard you talk about " bathrooms"
rest room comes from female public rooms that have ( had) couches in them.
silverware .... those that had any money( prior to 1960) their forks, knives, sppons were at least silver plated.
hence the axiom " born with a silver spoon in his/her mouth"

Did her coach teach her the bad plays too because her playstyle was suicide 😂

At 12:32 I would have taken pawn in front of king with bishop putting her in check. Then your rook could take her queen.
