If you think about it Mel Brooks is one of the most celebrated comedy movie producers in the world. Hes made movies that would be instantly canceled these days but they are still seen as masterpieces because he didnt focus on just onecrace, topic, world issue, political problems. He bagged on them all. Thats what makesnhim so good that people will still go to movie thearers during a showing of his movies.
Everyone was so perfectly cast in this--but I have to give special props to the one, the only... Dick Shawn as L.S.D. Perfectly cast as the worst most comically miscast Adolf Hitler.
Dick Shawn's reaction to the question, "What is your name?" is priceless. A really good film, way ahead of its time. All those great actors...only a few left now...
What a genius movie that was. Mel Brooks made some great movies after this,Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles being my personal favourites, but The Producers took some beating.
It feels like epic tragedy... Mostel, Mars, Hewitt... all gone. But we're all just passing through. They really did give us something to remember them by... Who could ever forget them? Ever after they're passed, anyone who sees their work--will not forget them. Ever. 5:45--That's the infamous ultimate shiksa Mrs. Sylvia Fine, from Fran Drescher's show "The Nanny" as that Jewish Yenta playing Eva Braun.
I watched this film when it first came out and have watched it numerous times...with considerable pleasure. I have the DVD, and watch it at last once every few months. However, I just noticed a minor difference in the lift / elevator scene. In video 3/7, at 9.43, Max is standing between Karman Ghia and Leo. In 4/7 at .033. the places have switched. In this extract, Max and Leo are facing each other. Can't believe I have missed this for over 50 years. Have I imagined this or has my dementia begun to kick in ?
Rule number 1 of theater: never say "Good luck", say "Break a leg" since it's believed to be bad luck to say "Good luck". Personally, I don't believe that.
+losthor1zon It's a common trick used here by copyright holders... they let all the parts of their material stay up on UA-cam except one, which they get pulled for copyright violation. That way people get to watch it, enjoy it and get hooked, so they end up being terribly frustrated by the one missing part.. And the only way they can see that part is to go out and buy the whole video, which generates welcome sales for whoever owns it, especially of older or lesser known videos which might otherwise rarely sell at all if they had not been seen on UA-cam.
The cast was perfect.

Lee Meredith was great. She was wonderful in The Sunshine Boys as the nurse in the Doctor sketch.
I’ve been in elevators like that in France. Two people could fit only if they were very intimate.
Genius film
" I never knew ' The Third Reich' meant Germany. Funny and relevant today! Lol 👏

"I work long and hard to get where I am and I'm not going to wear swastikas on my tits"
Jesus, only the best movie in the entirety of the world!!
“Where’s my Herring? Baby....”
I refuse to see the remake. The original is perfect.
Can you imagine this film being released in todays' ridiculous PC atmosphere? Sense of humor is in low supply now.

Shawn and Wilder, also, no longer with us. They are buried and/or Cremated, somewhere. I forget where.
In 1968 this movie broke so many taboos that today people yawn about.
Hitlers of all shapes and sizes. Oy! 😂🤣
And lesbian Hitlers, don't forget about that.
PSsssssst. There's no part 5.
Фантастика!

Great stuff but where is 5 of 7?
+Toothmother - Found it on a playlist. Video was blocked for copyright (no idea why).
