I remember typing "Gran Turismo 2 mods" into UA-cam when I was 12 (2006) expecting to see people adding new cars into the game, so I was extremely disappointed when I found that the only mods were adding cut cars back into the game and drivable license test trophies. My dream has come true now though. It's crazy how it's taken so long for people to start making mods for the game.
The breakthrough was when adeyblue wrote a tool that could re-pack the game's files in about 2017, then once I found that a year later I wrote some tools for entirely self-serving purposes (e.g. adding car colours so I could have a blue and white Viper, adding new car parts so I could race modify the Prius). After that, model editing was a case of inspecting Leo2236's model viewer and doing the reverse of what it does, and commongear came along and figured out the last piece of that puzzle in 2021. There haven't been many big breakthroughs since then, but people are starting to use the tools which is great to see.
Fr I had a vison a actual dream about gran turismo 4 at the Nurburgring of course it’s one of my fav UA-camrs Night2vyife driving cars that actually came out on the PS3 and beyond like adding redbull X2010
this is the legit first time seeing a Gran Turismo game truly being modded (no hybrids, using existing models in game, chassis swaps, etc) this shits so funny, I wanna see more 🤣

I was tired, i was using the colors of the saleen sr for another gt2 mod when i reallised the face on the side looked like a protogen, and i think thats where i went wrong
My man lucas made it into the game. So proud But memes and jokes apart, the fact that custom models etc are doable for GT2 is truly a pinnacle in GT modding. Props to the modders!
@@ParallelSyntax I’ve had quite a few jdm legacy’s and always found the older 98-02 much better built than the newer 03-09. Personally I think they lost the plot with everything 09 onwards 😫😭
I broke in laughter at the intro when I saw the EXTREMELY ELONGATED C A R but jokes aside I'll have to see what this mod brings to the table because if it makes enough of a mess the game, I would consider playing this for sure even if it hasn't been over a month ever since I beat World League for the first time in vanilla GT2 lmao
